SCARS Kindle Edition
At least, that’s what I thought.
But you changed all that.
You are always there ... Always watching ... Always waiting in the shadows. You send me flowers and messages. You stalk me, trace my every movement...
Until that one day, in a silly game of Seven Minutes in Heaven, when I finally get to feel you—have a taste of you ...
It left me wanting more.
One catastrophic day, my wish is granted.
Just past my eighteenth birthday, tragedy strikes and I watch my family die before my eyes.
You are there. You rescue me. You choose my life over my older sister’s, and I hate you for that. I hate you for taking me and imprisoning me. You say it’s for my sake, but I know it’s for your own. You make me see that my life could be much worse without you in it...
You make me see true darkness.
It is in that darkness you make me desperate for your presence, your touch, your caress. You make me need you... You make it impossible for me to live without you… And then, eventually…
You make me fall in love with you.
Secrets will always wound the ones twisted within their web of lies... But the ones I’m tangled in ... are deadly.
WARNING: Although this book (overall) is not a dark read, one chapter is an exception, and contains the following triggers: childhood sexual/emotional abuse with some intensity in one particular scene.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2016Jaimie Roberts is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Each book of hers I pickup, I fall in serious lust with...
When you read the blurb of Scars, you think "oh, yea, this is going to be another of the same type of book." Wrong. I was so wrong and I'm glad I took the time to read it.
Lily has it all. She comes from a good, well off family. Her parents are together and in love. She's close to her sister and they don't want for anything. But Lily always felt a little off...
Enter SMIHG (you'll understand those letters of you read the book) guy. He's mysterious, sexy, smells divine, but he's out for revenge... Can the girl he watches change such a damaged soul?
Whew, my emotions went through the ringer with this book! I both loved and loathed SMIHG. I may have even seriously lusted after him! If you're looking for something fresh, this is the book for you!
There are dark themes and triggers in the book. You've been warned.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2016The only reason this book is missing a star is because of the ending. While yes there is a happy ending, it was not nearly enough considering a) how long this book was and b) how unnecessary and drawn out some scenes were. Also the ending left a slight cliffhanger regarding an issue that better be addressed in a novella or something... All of that aside, I really enjoyed the book. The story had dark and teasing under currant, with splashes of light. Jarrod was truly a scarred individual, while Lily was as pure as they come and together they had a shivering chemistry that burned slow. The storyline was very predictable for me, but not in a bad way. If you're paying attention, you will be able figure things out. There was some passion, violence, tragedy, twists, turns, and then some... I definitely recommend this book and look forward to more from Jaimie Roberts!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2016This has been one of the best books I have read lately. There were twists that kept you guessing until towards the end, and the story flowed all the way through. I haven't read a plot like this which is REFRESHING! Everything lately is the same same same. 😵 Jaime is a wonderful writer, that uses great editors (for those of you that find this important, mistakes were very minimal). There characters were relatable, although not always what they seemed to be. Once I started I was hooked and read the book straight through. You cannot help but Love J. I cannot wait to read the next book about Charlotte, I hope Jaime continues some of the first couples plot into the second book! 🆒📕
- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2019Though I did immensely enjoyed the plot of this book, the twists and turns and the characters, I found myself skimming a good portion of the book. Too much unnecessary information causing the book to drag on. Also, I kept waiting for the big reveal but it didn’t come until the very end. In addition, the book ended in a bit of a cliffhanger which I guess will continue in Charlotte’s story( a secondary character). That is kind of disappointing. Would I recommend??? Sure, it was a very good read but just keep in mind it does drag on in some places and it leaves you with a little cliffhanger. I had to rate this book a 3.5.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2017I don't think there's such a thing as a typical "stalker" book so don't be surprised that this one is filled with all kinds of twists and turns. Lily goes through so much throughout this book and it got to the point that I wasn't so sure she was going to have a happily ever after. But sometimes even monsters find their way out of the dark and into the light.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2016Lily is the innocent and shy girl that makes good grades and follows the rules. She has a secret admirer/stalker that has been following her for months who makes her feel safe and leaves her lily flowers by her front door. One night she and her best friend Christine are at a party where Lily finds herself locked in the bathroom for a typical high school game. She meets her stalker J, but he doesn't allow her to see his face. The secret visits and the text messages continue for a while but always prohibiting Lily from seeing J. Shortly after her eighteenth birthday, the unthinkable happens. She and her family are involved in a car accident and J saves her, but only her. Can she forgive him and what will happen when she learns all the secrets?
I really liked J's character and the more we learned about him, the deeper my feelings went. His past is heartbreaking and I hated he was forced to suffer that way. Lily drove me a little crazy with her reckless behavior. I guess I'm just as crazy as she is since I wasn't bothered at all by her acceptance of J, yet I was thoroughly miffed when she defends the guy who she considered a life-long friend when he pushes for more from her. I can't really say more without giving away spoilers and this a book you should enjoy without them.
Scars is told from dual POVs and ends a in happy for now place. I understand the author has another book planned that will give us Christine's story and I hope answer a lingering question I have from this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2016Lilly and Jarrod.
Could u fall in love with your stalker?
Could you submit willingly to your kidnapper?
Could you offer your innocence to a man in mask?
Could u trust a blind instinct?
If you can then you have to read this book and fly to new dimensions where love knows no boundaries have no scars and most importantly is faceless.
A must Read. Jaimie did it again, a masterpiece with words. I loved the book. 5 well earned stars
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2017Such an intriguing love story. It took me on a true roller coaster ride. It had an infinity of details. So if that’s your thing you will love the day to day interaction of how the characters cat and mouse game evolves to a huge revelation. Story of love, loss, revenge, past, abuse, sadness and so much more. It was truly very entertaining and emotional. Happy reading!!

5.0 out of 5 stars What an amazing story …
I loved this book from beginning to end. I know Jarrod was a stalker but how could you not fall in love with him? Jarrod and Lily are just two beautiful souls and that’s what I loved most about this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb read, don't miss this book !!!!!!!
"Time's Up Beautiful"
I really loved reading this book, a little slow to kick in but once it did - wow I was totally smitten with a character I didn't even know. Very well written and once again the imaginary concept and the story line is really well developed.
Lily has the distinct feeling that she is being watched, her six sense is telling her to be wary, yet she is not really scared, in some ways she feels flattered. She comes from a loving family that is well off and she is a very happy and content 17 year old.
Now I thought - oh this book is going to be creepy, dark, maybe brutal - how wrong was I. Told in duel perspective we get to experience the feelings and thoughts of Lily and lets call him J - who is her stalker. He sends flowers every day, he messages her and she is growing to like this stalker more and more. When at a party one night they play a game - seven minutes in heaven and unintentionally Lily gets to meet her stalker and "feel" him for the first time. She likes what she feels and wants more, of course she questions herself and her sanity to be feeling this way about someone she doesn't know and has never properly seen before but her heart is ruling her head and things escalate.
The more I got into this book the more I couldn't put it down, I found myself just as fascinated by J as Lily was and I craved to know more about him and what life had dealt him and just why was he obsessed with Lily.
J Roberts has the knack of keeping you hanging on a very fine line all the way through, drip feeding you tasty morsels and then as you get near to the last quarter of the book things really heat up and I was like OMG and REALLY - NO WAY - yes this book has it all. I honestly had no idea, I was clueless to the plot of this book - I would never in a million years have guessed the ending and what an ending it was - absolutely superb writing. I am loving this author's work so much and this book is another one that should be added to your lists of must reads - brilliant !!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too long for what it has to say
It took me a while to read this story, a while to feel involved and interested. There are few similarities with Deviant, but to me it resembles more to Debt by Nina Jones, and I must say I’ve found that the latter has been better developed, with a more interesting structure and pace.
The main point to both the stories is basically the same but in Debt all the other elements making up the story are for some reason more effective. Simple but very, very good.
In Scars I’m afraid I felt like the story is a little bit of a mess. I could sense the true role of some characters at an early stage. Furthermore, all the teenage chatting and high school stuff is not something that I care of much and sometimes bored me to tears. There’s also a sugary undertone that’s not really my thing.
Overall it was not bad, but there's something missing to be more than that to me.

3.0 out of 5 stars 2.5 stars
The plot was good and I like Jarrod’s character. There were just too many conversations with side characters that bores me so I have to skip pages and also I am not satisfied with the ending. Too many questions in my mind that hasn’t been answered as well.
