Perfect for fans of The Rosie Project, Same Time, Same Place is "a heartwarming story about how history plays out in our present - and how the power to heal is right in front of us, if only we can be brave enough to look for the clues." (Vicky Zimmerman, author of Miss Cecily's Recipes for Exceptional Ladies)

Daisy works nights. Nate works days. But maybe they aren't as different as they assume.

Daisy is the night security guard at the Manchester Museum of Social History. She takes her job very seriously, protecting the museum from teenage troublemakers.

Nate works the day shift, though he'd be more suited as a museum guide the way he chats with the visitors. Daisy doesn't approve: how does he find it so easy to talk to strangers?

For five minutes each day, their shifts overlap at handover. It's the only interaction they have...until mysterious things begin to happen at the museum. Daisy notices priceless objects going missing and then reappearing, with no explanation (and with nothing on the security footage!). No one believes her except Nate, and he agrees to help her investigate.

They soon discover they have a lot more in common than they realized…and their investigation uncovers not only the truth, but new possibilities for their future.

Heavy Book, But Perfect Ending

Heavy Book, But Perfect Ending
🦕 What's the last book you read where the characters stay with you, long after you've finished? 🦕 For me, it's Daisy and Nate from Same Time, Same Place by David Barnett. I kept thinking about this book, and I wish I had buddy read it with someone to talk about! 📝 Daisy has a lot going on in her life. She's taking care of her mother who has terminal cancer, trying to repent from the "bad thing" she did many years ago. The one constant in her life is work, and she takes her job as a security guard at Manchester Museum of Social History very seriously. Everyday for 5 minutes, she crosses paths with Nate, the day shift security guard, at handover. He also has is own trauma he's working through, but nothing intrigues him more than the very serious Daisy. When things start disappearing at the museum, they must work together to discover the truth! What I 🤍: 💙 Most Accurate Depiction of Someone Who's Depressed 💔 Flawed, Realistic Characters 🔎 Small Mystery 💝 Ending (Absolute PERFECTION) I would describe this book as Night of The Museum with an overall somber feel. This is realistic fiction, and the struggles and trauma these characters went through made the book feel heavy. It hit home for me because I am also currently trying to figure out assisted care for a loved one. Even though Daisy was a tough nut to crack, I felt I could relate to her in the pressure that she faced. When reading, I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders with no end to all this hardship in sight. The first 2/3 of the book was slow, and that was so the foundation for the last part makes sense. (The last 1/3 MADE THE BOOK for me.) 👏 Stick with this one! Prince's Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Steaminess: 🔥 (Closed Door Scene) ▶️ Read If: You are a part of a book club and want a realistic fiction choice! ⚠️ Content Warning: Terminal Cancer, Alcoholism, Divorce, Domestic Abuse, Depression This truly was a beautiful book. Just know, it does feel heavy. Huge thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark and @davidmbarnett for this gifted ARC. 🤗

This is not a light and fluffy book. Both our main characters are deeply flawed- traumatized by either people or instances in their past that they can’t move forward from. Daisy has spent every day since she was nine trying to figure out how to repent from “the bad thing” that she did and how it hurt her family. As such she tries to keep her distance from all outsiders- no one will ever accept her after knowing about the bad thing anyway. Taking over the care of her terminally ill mother with the help of her sister Rosie, Daisy is just trying to keep it together. A group of young thugs bullying her every morning doesn’t help, nor the fact that her family is imploding and issues at work. Finding an unlikely ally in Nate, Daisy finds herself leaning on her companion’s strength more and more. Could there really be a happy ever after for someone like her?

Nate is not like his father- full stop. He has, in fact, spent his life trying to be the opposite of his abusive parent. This apparently still doesn’t make for a great husband and father. Divorced from Lucia and feeling more and more disconnected from his son, Ben, Nate doesn’t know how to move forward. The introduction of Lucia’s oh-so-perfect boyfriend does not help. Feeling threatened and lost, Nate makes one mistake after another while trying to pull Ben in. Daisy is the only thing that seems simple and good. I loved watching the two grow closer, encourage one another, and grow together. As they each came to terms with their pasts, their characters grew- as did their chemistry. This is definitely a slow burn type of romance for all the best reasons. They had to clear up misunderstandings and be in the right headspace to move forward together. I love that.

The book is written in dual narrative, so you get to know both main characters pretty well. There’s a good flow to the story, and it has the feel of a very fast read. As I did say, it’s not exactly a fluffy book, though. There’s a lot of pain and emotions here. Bullying, self-hate, depression, and talk of previous abuse are all here making it a bit hard for some to get through. The way they dealt with the issues, though, makes all the pain worthwhile, and you leave feeling refreshed- hopeful even. For me, this is a five-star book

Daisy works the night shift as a security guard at the Manchester Museum of Social History. Nate is the daytime security guard. Their opposite shifts match their opposing personalities. When Daisy begins to notice that some small objects around the museum have gone missing, Nate is the only one who can help her solve the mystery. As they start working together during their off-hours to find the culprit, they discover they may be more similar than they originally thought.

Same Time, Same Place is a sweet, opposites-attract romance with a touch of mystery. The plot is engaging with a mixture of witty and serious dialogue. While a majority of the storyline is light, the author does touch on some more sensitive topics such as family dynamics and childhood trauma.

Daisy and Nate are both unique and relatable characters. Daisy was shaped by her childhood trauma and resulting opinions about her. Nate wants to do what’s best for his son even when that means putting everything else in second place.

I was drawn to this book by its cover and its interesting premise and while it was not what I initially expected, it did not disappoint. This is the first book that i have read from this author but I would be interested in reading more of his work in the future.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Sourcebooks and the Early Reads program!

Same Time, Same Place by David Barnett is a moving and heartfelt romance book!

Daisy, the night security guard at the Manchester Museum of Social History and her mother’s caretaker, and Nate, a divorced single dad who works the day shift at the museum, couldn’t be more opposite. Daisy is quiet and reserved, and she takes her job very seriously. Nate is friendly and outgoing and acts more like a museum guide than a security guard. They only interact for five minutes each day, when their shifts overlap, but when priceless museum objects start disappearing and reappearing, they team up to solve the mystery.

This is not a light and fluffy romcom, as I had expected, but it is an absolutely beautiful story. The main characters are still dealing with trauma from their childhood as well as current hardships, making them flawed and damaged yet lovable. It was both heartbreaking and heartwarming to follow Daisy and Nate along their journeys toward healing. When something was revealed about Daisy, it made my heart go out to her even more. I thought the mystery surrounding the missing and reappearing museum objects made this story even better, and the resolution of the mystery made my eyes well up with tears! I also loved that Daisy and Nate were connected by a book and how their opposites attract relationship developed slowly and naturally. The ending was incredibly sweet and uplifting! I am so glad I read this book because it surprised me in the best way!
