Saving Ryder (Special Forces: Operation Alpha) (Saving SEALs Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,823 ratings

He's left her twice before why should she believe this time is any different?

Abigail McNamara feels like she always has to prove herself and could never live up to her family's expectations. Her grandfather was a SEAL, her father was a SEAL, her brother is a SEAL, and, oh yeah, her brother's ridiculously hotter than hot hunkalicious best friend is also a SEAL. She’s loved Ryder since she was twelve but he’s broken her heart twice already and she’s vowed she won't ever trust him again.

Every guy knows the code you don’t have sex with your best friend's little sister. If you do you don’t get caught. If you fall in love with her you don’t break her heart. And if you earn her trust back you don’t walk away. Unfortunately Ryder “Spider” Flynn did all that. When Abigail is abducted and held prisoner for fourteen months by a sadistic sociopath that changes everything. Now all bets are off but he has to keep her alive long enough to prove to her he deserves a third chance.

Drugs, danger, deception, and kidnapping ... this is what the SEAL teams deal with in the regular ... rescuing three little girls turns out to be so much more!

This book is action packed and suspenseful. I was able to read it in a day…I didn’t want to put it down. When a Seal team goes in to rescue a Senator’s 3 abducted children they find another hostage. She is known by all of the team members but especially to the ex boyfriend who finds her and brother. Abigail McNamara has been missing for fourteen months and is naked and suffering from pneumonia in a locked cell by Ryder “Spider” Flynn. The two grew up as next door neighbors and she secretly fell in love with him at age twelve. He has broken her heart twice and she’s determined there will not be a third time. When they are unable to get to the helicopter before it’s forced to leave Ryder gets Abigail to a safe place and Wolf and his team (from Susan Stoker’s Seal of Protection Series) are sent in to rescue them. There is more danger on the horizon as the team has to determine who took Abigail and why. Ryder is not giving up on winning “his woman” back and has a big hill to climb in order to do it. Both of them have past hurts and trauma from childhood that play a big part too. This is a really enjoyable read.

    4 and a half Stars
This is the first of three in a series that Jane Blythe is doing in Susan Stoker's Operation Alpha series. I became hooked on Jane's books when she put out the Broken Gems series, (The last of which is part of Susan's series) She is a wonderful writer and if you are a Stoker fan, you'll love Jane.
Saving Ryder is a best friend's little sister romance with lots of suspense thrown in. Ryder is a Navy SEAL who while on a mission, happens to find Abby, the woman he loves and has left twice, who disappeared 14 months earlier. She's very ill with pneumonia. After a harrowing rescue, she's taken to a hospital where she's reunited with her brother, Eric, who is also on the team. But she can't remember who kidnapped her or why.
Now, I don't want to ruin the rest of the book, so you'll be just have to grab a copy. My only critique here is the first sex scene. Trust me when I tell you as someone who has has pneumonia AND broken ribs (4 of them) at the same time...yeah, there's just no way that's happening.

Ryder and Abby have a rocky history and the future looks rocky too. But with the Seals on their side, anything is possible.

I seem to be making my way through the many different Special Forces:Operation Alpha series. Not surprising as I'm a huge Susan Stoker fan.

This was a pretty decent showing. The author made me care about the characters and the plot moved at a good pace. And it's always nice when "old friends" (Wolf's team and Tex) stop by.

My biggest issue, though, was the egregious overuse of the MMC call sign. Literally every passage that was for the male POV started with Spider this or Spider that. The man's name is Ryder. Having his POV like that grated on my nerves because is that his identity? Does he think of himself as Spider first and Ryder second? It was so bad I could have turned it into a drinking game if I was so inclined. Being called Spider when the team was meeting or even at the botched get together is fine but not for every POV swap. SMH.

I'm intrigued enough to move on to Eric's book so that's definitely a plus.

Ryder and Abby get a third chance at a relationship. He botched up twice but after finding Abby after she’d been missing for 14 months he knows he can’t live without her.

There were a few moments where the dialogue was very sophomoric. And the set up for catching the bad guy was something I doubt a group of military guys would ever agree to.

Wow, this book was intense! There were some darker elements in the story that made parts of it a little hard to read but the book was really great, overall. Poor Abigail was seriously put through the wringer and then some. I loved her and Ryder together and glad they got their third chance at happiness. This book was loaded with great characters and a strong storyline along with lots of action, danger, suspense, edge of your seat excitement, and HEA. Though the mistrust, pain, and secrets will tug at your heart there’s a nice balance of witty banter, spunk, humor, bonds of friendship and family, and love to provide a well-rounded, engaging story.

Oh my god! This was phenomenal!

Whilst on a mission to save three young girls from a kidnapping, Ryder stumbles upon his teammates sister who went missing 14 months previously. Shocked at finding her he has his work cut out for him to get them both out of there unscathed.
Abby and Ryder have a history together and throughout their ordeal Ryder has a hell of a time trying to get her trust back.
Once on American soil they both find that this was only just the beginning, both for the restart of their relationship and also for the actual reason Abby went missing in the first place….

I have read this series out of order but my goodness this one is absolutely phenomenal. It’s pretty much everything I look for on my romantic suspense books.
I loved that the book started with Abbys discovery. I totally felt for her and felt every moment of every step she took to recovery. Ryder, omg was just amazing! Total swoon worthy and even though he made some bad choices he thought they were for the right reasons.
    Amazing!

While I was wary when I started reading this book, I soon felt hooked into the story. Saving Ryder is the first book in a new series by Jane Blythe. Abigail had been missing for fourteen months. The story flowed well and was interesting from beginning to end.

Book one this series was inspired by author susan stoker with her consent this author took a few characters from susan series and made a series (a lot of authors do this spin off series or each write a book in a series) I'm not a fan as it's hard to find the start and find the rest plus spoilers.
I enjoyed the storyline (not for the faint hearted) in truth it was Abigail who needed rescuing I'm not a fan of the damsel in distress but it's ok if it done tastefully and with her having some fire and not all damsel.her story makes you want to weep (it's a hard read) The title is about her saving ryders heart he was broken before coming a seal. (at least the title goes with the photo of a man, some books have saving females as titled but men photos yeah really)
I will read on Eric is next with her friend I guess??

What a stunningly beautiful story. Ryder and Abby we're two halves of a whole. Watching Ryder fight the evil that had taken Abby, working with his brother's in arms to keep her safe was heartwarming. Everything in me was hoping they would find each other again. Abby is such a brave and strong character. She withstood something that would break many people. My heart aches for the pain Ryder had suffered as a young boy. He so deserves to be loved.
Jane Blythe is a talented author who has weaved a hear stopping world with utter finesse and obvious love.
    Definite 5 stars
