The Sea Glass Cottage: A Novel (Cape Sanctuary Book 2) Kindle Edition
The life Olivia Harper always dreamed of isn’t so dreamy these days. The 16-hour work days are unfulfilling and so are things with her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when she hears that her estranged mother, Juliet, has been seriously injured, Liv has no choice but to pack up her life and head home to beautiful Cape Sanctuary on the Northern California coast.
It’s just for a few months—that’s what Liv keeps telling herself. But the closer she gets to Cape Sanctuary, the painful memories start flooding back: Natalie, her vibrant, passionate older sister who downward-spiraled into addiction. The fights with her mother who enabled her sister at every turn. The overdose that took Natalie, leaving her now-teenaged daughter, Caitlin, an orphan.
As Liv tries to balance her own needs with those of her injured mother and an obstinate, resentful fifteen-year-old, it becomes clear that all three Harper women have been keeping heartbreaking secrets from one another. And as those secrets are revealed, Liv, Juliet, and Caitlin will see that it’s never too late—or too early—to heal family wounds and find forgiveness.

RaeAnne Thayne never fails to satisfy! With a treasured voice made for detailing heart-wrenching family drama in such a poetic way, she takes us on an emotional journey of strength, healing and forgiveness with her latest THE SEA GLASS COTTAGE and it does not disappoint!
From the start the reader is taken into the heart of three characters ... a grown daughter returning home to help her mother through an injury, an aging mother who doesn't like for one second that her body is betraying her and taking her away from her daily life and a moody teenager who's trying to find answers to the mysteries of her past. Each character has a side to their story and we get a feel for what's going on quickly and are soon hooked.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a story that connects with an imperfect family as they travel the roads of life. It's emotional, it's sweet and it's oh so satisfying!

And as those secrets are revealed, Liv, Juliet, and Caitlin will see that it’s never too late—or too early—to heal family wounds and find forgiveness.
My Thoughts: In the beginning of The Sea Glass Cottage, we meet Olivia, who has gone through a terrifying experience in her favorite Seattle coffee shop, and now is suffering a form of PTSD. Despite her issues, she changes her schedule to head to her hometown when her mother, Juliet, falls and seriously injures herself.
As she tries to step in to help, she has to deal with her own feelings from her adolescence, when her mother focused all of her energy on her sister Natalie, an addict, and then on Caitlin, the baby her sister had back then. Now Caitlin is fifteen and full of barely suppressed rage about her own resentments and secrets.
It was hard to like Caitlin, who had done something she shouldn’t have, and is allowing what she learned to interfere with her relationships.
Juliet has her own secret, which is also an obstacle that could prevent future happiness.
I was rooting for Olivia throughout, but also hoping that Juliet and Caitlin would own up to their fears and secrets, allowing the family to rebuild. A 4.5 star read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseEnjoyed reading about Olivia and her family at Sea Glass Cottage. Olivia returns home after her Mother has fall. There are to many secrets. Her father had died in a fire And her sister died after that from addiction leaving a daughter. Cooper was her sisters best friend and had pulled her dad from the fire.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have liked every one of her books, and have read many. They are stories about real people that you feel you can relate to. The good, bad and ugly of life mixed in with a little romance. Good, clean, wholesome reads. I Love her work!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe Sea Glass Cottage: A Novel, is a story of hope and many things dear to me: dogs, friends, stunning gardens, and complex relationships. The charming seaside town of Serenity is a community of colorful characters who face life challenges, trauma, fear, love, and loss; but mostly love. Four star rating only because I could easily predict the ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAnd I can’t stand women who keep secrets because they think they know what’s best for everyone else. Also the guilt over how all these people couldn’t save an addict. No one can save an addict. They have to save themselves. “Yet another woman he couldn’t save. “ Cooper is a really great character but this constant guilt trip was so boring. So this book rubbed me the wrong way from the start. Nobody talks to anybody. Even in the end they haven’t totally cleared the air, even though it all wraps up in a neat little HEA with a bow on top. I appreciate the Christian overtones, but it’s really not for me. I’m looking for a new author, but i think I’ll keep looking.
