Secret Simon (A Haven Hart Novel) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 703 ratings

Simon
Being the nephew of one of the most infamous mob bosses in the world isn’t easy. Our family has enemies everywhere, and no one is safe without protection. Here I am at college with a fresh start, a new last name, and secrets hidden from those around me—life is going according to plan. Then one day on campus, I see him…and I want him to strip me bare…in more ways than one.

Rush
Abernathy is more than just the university I attend. It’s my destiny, my namesake. Singing and entertaining are who I am, but my father wants me to major in something more appropriate for the name I carry. I’ve resigned myself to being who my father wants, doing what he wants. Then Simon comes into my life…and turns everything upside down. Now I have a reason to fight for what I want.

Who knew our love story would lead to secrets revealed, murderous plots, and finding our forever buried under so many lies? Hopefully we’ll live long enough to see it.

*This is a Haven Hart Novel and does not follow the larger story arc in the first 7 books. For a more enjoyable reading experience, you should read the Haven Hart Series in order.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Narrated by Alexander Cendese and John Solo, the story becomes more enjoyable. Cendese does a wonderful job with Rush's character. He evolves quite a bit through the story and Cendese is able to express the changes. Solo does a good job with Simon's voice.-- "Exit, Persued by a Bear Blog"

    Edited to include audio review:

Secret Simon is all I hoped it would be. I met Simon at the age of eight in Snow Falling and he has been a consistent character in all the Haven Hart books. He has always intrigued me in that he was a very sensible kid and I wondered how he would turn out as an adult growing up in the Mafia Family. The answer is he turned out pretty good. Even if you haven't read the Haven Heart books I suggest Secret Simon. It's a wonderful romance with suspense and action.

Narrated by Alexander Cendese and John Solo, the story becomes more enjoyable. Cendese does a wonderful job with Rush's character. He evolves quite a bit through the story and Cendese is able to express the changes. Solo does a good job with Simon's voice. The only thing that threw me off was at times Simon was very quiet. I had to stop, back up, and listen again with the volume raised. Simon's story in audio is well worth the wait. Treat yourself to eight as he grows into Christoper's heir.

I received a copy of Secret Simon in exchange for an honest review.

I loved it. Finally Eight's story. Well, he was there since the beginning and it sure was a nice way to end this arc of the tale. He's all grown up and ready to fall in love. Yes, it's insta and there's a lot being pressed in a few short weeks but it's filled with emotions and action and I enjoyed the brutal way of dealing with things. So Simon has set his eyes on Rush. And in the beginning it's just like any other university story of studies, meeting for cheap dinner and movies. Until the mobsters get involved. And they always are. Nothing is as it seems. But read for yourself. If you liked the Haven Hart series you will love this book, too.

The long awaited book of one of my favorite characters has finally arrived. I watched Eight grow up through the Haven Hart Series and like a true Davidson-King fan I wanted to know what kind of man he would grow up to be being raised by a notorious mob boss and a cynically untrusting man. Oh but what a wonderful young man our Simon has grown up to be. He's loving, funny, quirky, but he's also fierce, straight forward and super badass. We see glimpses of the future mob boss that he's going to be and he's going to do his Pops proud. Davidson-King has delivered another brilliantly crafted book. Rush and Simon stole my heart and they will steal yours too.

I love the Haven Hart series by Davidson King, and I enjoyed Secret Simon as well. This book is new adult but the way it's written it's wonderful. I admit, I love new adult books, but they are usually so contrived and forced from a frat boy perspective that I gave up on them, but then I read this book and it gave me everything I didn't know I wanted. A new adult book with suspense, mystery, romance, and a badass hero who's protective over his guy.

I do hope I get a book about a minor characters who appeared here. I think he's interesting.

I wasn’t sure at first if I’d want to read Simon all grown up but quickly realized yes, of course I did! I loved seeing Simon having gone out on his own but also still a part of the family, and he and Rush were perfect together. I was thrilled that the story did contain some mystery and action because it just wouldn’t be right without it. I loved how it fit with Simon & Rush; the family got brought in and not the other way around, plus there was a bit of twists that I did not predict! Simon & Rush were sweet and just the right level of heat. Rush has a layer of vulnerability and Simon had a core of steel as is to be expected. Loved seeing Snow, Christopher, and all the family.

Simon all grown up was tough to wrap my head around. Idk why it never crossed my mind that we was the heir and would be doing Manis things. I’m proud of him and hope he gets his happily ever after

    Simon and Rush

I absolutely love it when authors who have written an awesome series go and write about the 2nd gen. Simon was a huge part of the Haven Hart series. So seeing him all grown up and going to college was a treat. I adore these characters and their found family.

I am glad that Simon got his HEA. This is a love story that really bears repeating. The similarities between Rush and Snow tells us just exactly how much Simon and Christopher are alike and that when they love with their whole heart unconditionally. There are people out there who say " Blood will out" but not in this case as far as Rush and Snow are concerned, they rose above what the environment they grew up in and became men that could be loved and do love and Simon and Christopher are the lucky recipients. The author did a very good job of tying all of this together and writing a beautiful love story...... again

Twenty year old Simon is finally at Uni on his second year, when he spots the most amazing guy singing on the green. His friend Penny drags him to a restaurant where the guy - Rush - performs.
There's an awkward meet cute then the two connect.
But it isn't long before danger lurks, and this time it's from Rush's family.
The Manoses descend on the campus to protect the boys, defeat enemies and negotiate.
We meet Fred for the first time in this one.
A nice HFN and a hook for book 2.

Honestly, I just loved this world so much!
Every couple is everything and more!
I was super excited to see what Simon would become and the author did not disappoint.

Simon turn out to be a really great guy who doesn’t shy away from his responsibilities or does points fingers when something happens, if it’s his fault he the one to say I’m sorry that’s what great person he is.
Rush is a super great guy with a passion fir the arts which reminded me of Simons childhood. He’s suppressed by his father in so many ways, he can’t follow his dream because dear old dad wants him to follow in his footsteps while Simon is totally the opposite.
Chris doesn’t want him to take over the family but ultimately it’s Simons decision and Simon wants nothing more then to take over.
When Rush sees how Simons family is, he realizes that what he thought was love from his father was only a means to an end to his father.

Now because I’m so attached to this characters when someone almost died my heart almost stopped and my tears began to fall. I mean, how dare they hurt my baby ? Also I felt Snow and Christopher’s pain and rage, I wanted to kill someone too.

Anyways, They had such a great love story and seeing everyone together again filled me with so much joy that just thinks about it makes me happy.
I only wished I had more of them, like a lot more but I’m satisfied with the end.

Now I’ll leave with this quote from the book that make me emotional :

“This is shattering right now, and you have to let the pieces fall where they may. It’s only after the shards have landed that someone will pick them up and put them together again. And the cracks and fissures will always show. They will tell the tale of all you’ve endured. But that person who made your heart while again will be it’s protector and their love will never let it shatter again.”
