Scorpio Hates Virgo (Signs of Love Book 2) Kindle Edition
Percy Freedman—passionate, sarcastic Scorpio—is good at doling out verbal grenades. Especially to his unfairly hot nemesis across the road. He’s been doing it forever.
Callaghan Glover—hardworking, practical Virgo—seems to love doling them back.
But as Percy readies his Aunt’s house to sell, it becomes clear that his cul-de-sac neighbors want him to stay. Even said nemesis. Especially said nemesis.
Now those verbal grenades simmer with spine-tingling tension, and Percy . . . holy hell, he can’t get enough of it. But Callaghan is straight, right?
Stubborn Scorpio will need a kind Virgo to figure it out.
"Scorpio Hates Virgo" is a sarcasm-filled slow burn, boy next door MM romance featuring an unhealthy obsession with dinosaurs and a sexy HEA. This fake-enemies-to-lovers novel is the second book in the Signs of Love series.
The books in the Signs of Love series are standalone romances, and can be read in any order.
LEO LOVES ARIES (bi-awakening, friends to lovers, clueless as fuck)
SCORPIO HATES VIRGO (boy next door, fake-enemies to lovers, mistaken identity)
GEMINI KEEPS CAPRICORN (fake fiancés, friends to lovers, off-limits lover)
PISCES HOOKS TAURUS (marriage of convenience, opposites attract, age-gap)
CANCER SHIPS AQUARIUS (manny, widower, opposites attract)
SAGITTARIUS SAVES LIBRA (fake identity, twin shenanigans, small town)

This year is all about healing the heart, Scorpio.
It’s time to leave negative attitudes and stoic facades at the door and let others see the real, more vulnerable you.
Percy Freedman is not grieving. Absolutely not, take that back at once. No, he’s entirely sure that selling his dead aunt’s home and leaving the neighbors he’s known for years is the sane thing to do. Who in their right mind would keep the house that smells like all the hugs he’ll never have again?
Nobody, that’s who.
Well, except his neighbors. They all seem to think some paint and new furniture will clean the emotional slate. They all want him to stay.
Even his nemesis Callaghan Glover.
Especially his nemesis Callaghan Glover.
Lured into a game of Sherlock Gnomes, Percy finds himself hanging out with his neighbors more than might be considered healthy. Along with juggling new and surprising verbal grenades from Cal, and his burgeoning friendship with Gnomber9, Percy is starting to wonder if selling might have been the grief talking after all . . .
That’s right, Scorpio. With a little patience, heartbreak might be a thing of the past . . .

- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2018Typical Anyta Sunday with the slow-burn and the banter.
Cal and Percy were always frenemies, but after Percy's aunt and only relative he was on speaking terms with died, he had no reason to stay in the neighborhood. But not everything worked out the way he planned it. And that's all I'm gonna say about the plot. :)
I loved the way Cal and Percy communicated. So much sarcasm, which was basically their own way of flirting. One would say "I hate you" with a quirky smile, the other would answer "I hate you more" with a twinkle in his eyes. Okay, not that blatantly obvious. ;)
Sometimes I felt they were speaking a different language than me, and I felt a bit left out. Of course I could read between the lines, but I kind of wanted them to drop the code-talking and switch to real-talk for more than 10 sentences. I felt the shift from nemeses to friendship happening, but because they still maintained the sarcastic banter, I couldn't really tell when they decided to be more than friends. Or maybe I could? It's just happened so fast.
Anyway, it's a really enjoyable read and even though I don't believe in horoscopes I'm looking forward to reading the next installment, cause I'm a Capricorn. :D
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2022Scorpio Hates Virgo is hands down one of my favorite Anyta romances. She has a formula to her writing and there’s just something perfect about it!
When his aunt passes, Percy inherits her home and returns to the neighborhood where he spent his teenage years to figure out what to do with the property. Unbeknownst to him, his neighbor and so-called nemesis Cal sees Percy’s move home as his chance to finally pursue Percy. Too bad Percy is one clueless dude! It’s a bit of a twist on the “enemies to lovers” trope and I loved every moment.
I love how Cal knows that Percy is guarding his heart and hesitant to form a permanent attachment to someone, especially since Percy was tossed out by his family as a teen and now his aunt, who took him in, is gone. So Cal very carefully pursues Percy, mindful of not spoiling him. These two are really sweet together and I really loved the pacing of the romance.
Meanwhile, there’s a super fun neighborhood game going on, full of gnome puns and shenanigans. That aspect of the story is SO creative! I loved all the kooky neighbors and their shenanigans, but also their love for and support of each other.
This is a slow burn romance with a little spicy and a cute happy ending. This can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend the entire series. The whole thing is a comfort read for sure.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2018Life must have thumbed their nose at me. Because my firsthand experience of Virgo men is total opposite of what I read in this book. Of course, that's not the reason I couldn't really connect with this book. Not at all.
Taking place at the same cul-de-sac neighborhood as Leo Loves Aries, this book tells a story of Percy who inherited the house he grew up in from her aunt. At the same time, Percy's long time crush, Cal, moved back home to take care of his family who lives across the street from Percy's. Grieving over the lost of his aunt, Percy wants to sell the house while unbeknownst to him his cul-de-sac neighbors are conspiring for him to stay be a part of the community.
I like the idea of the story, the whole close-knit community that support one another and all. Perhaps, the story being told from Percy's POV that make it not working for me. Don't get me wrong, he's not a bad person. I just find him exhaustingly childish. Unfortunately this cloud my overall view of the story. The whole "we are nemeses" of his gets old before long. On top of that is his quick deduction of Gnomber9 which is ...not exactly stupid, but... There's just so many HINTS that he missed FCOL!!
Romance-wise, it's just hard for me to get the chemistry between Cal and Percy. Obviously Percy wins the jackpot with Cal, but on the other hand... *smdh*
So yeah, it's a cute story. But the overall execution just not very convincing for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2025Sunday's second book of partnering by zodiac cutely unveils a feisty bantering battle between the MCs. The contrasts of family, neighbors and angst weave a humorous partnering.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2018Sure, it may be a bit trope-ish, perhaps a bit cliched. In the m/m genre those can be easy traps to slip into, and I think I expected them, perhaps to the point that I’d be inclined to read them even where they aren’t. I think however that Ms. Sunday has largely avoided them here, instead rendering a well crafted, thoughtfully plotted and realistic slow-burn tale of love’s development and growth in parallel with personal growth and maturity. Her characters are three dimensional, including those who are secondary, and the story line is alternately deep and very playful. In sum, I was surprised by what a compelling read Scorpio Hates Virgo turned out to be, and I wouldn’t be disappointed to read more about the Gnomic cul-de-sac.

5.0 out of 5 stars AS nails the whole verbal sparring/flirty innuendo thing, perfectly!
A terrific sequel to Leo Loves Aries. And whilst you don’t have to read the aforementioned title to enjoy this book - as their link is only a subtle one - I highly recommend doing so if you haven’t already, as it’s every bit as sharp, witty, sexy and heartwarming as Scorpio Hates Virgo, which focuses on the recently bereaved [and dumped], Percy/Perseus and his neighbour, Cal/Callaghan.
If you crave a painfully slow-burn romance, look no further, as almost this entire tale revolves around these two frenemies discovering how much they’ve come to deeply care for and love one another over the years. But it’s the unrelenting LOL one-liners that ping-pong between them, paired with the smouldering ST that fills the atmosphere when they’re in close proximity, that makes these guys so relatable, and so damn lovable…although, a touch exasperating too, perhaps...as I also found myself wondering if they’d ever just communicate their true feelings, minus the repartee. Thankfully, they get there..eventually.
As with book 1, there’s very little sex here, two scenes in fact. However, I’d in no way call this a low-heat read, as Percy and Cal’s will they/won’t they dance is laced with sexual innuendo throughout. Which, when written as well as this, is ten times hotter than most sexually explicit scenes, imo. The lack of wall-to-wall sex is also completely in keeping with the guys’ up-until-recently faux-nemeses relationship….not to mention the traits of their respective star signs, of course.
In all, an easy five stars for me. Sweet, sexy and oh so bloody romantic, with the added bonus of a tsunami of dry humour throughout. Couple all of this with a whole host of brilliantly-written, quirky, funny, generous to a fault secondary characters [including a teensy catch-up with a few familiar faces ;)] who all play an integral role in bringing not only our guys together, but in creating real familial warmth throughout AND a fun and thoughtful take on the old Secret Santa game…which has prompted me to give myself the moniker of Gnomoerotica, lol...and you've got yourself the perfect romance with an all but guaranteed HEA. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it
A wonderful, slow developing, frenemies to lovers story with intriguing, personable characters, and an interesting storyline. It's sexy, fun, yet touching. There are some sad moments of grief interwoven with playful, sarcastic banter, an awesome community of helpful cul-de-sac friends, angst, wishes, love, and an emotional HEA.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow burn, swoony, frenemies to lovers
“Slow moving?” Percy asked.
“You know the story of the tortoise and the hare? That tortoise is Virgo.”
“All about being slow?”
“All about winning the race.”
First of all, take that slow burn label seriously. It is a slooow burn. And I am not taking that away from this author because Anyta Sunday writes it so freaking well, she really does. Slow burn is a genre that is 50/50 for me.
This time it was just a tad too slow for me, I really think having Cal's POV would have helped, I've only read a handful of this author's books but I think one characters POV is her style or at least for this series.
BUT
The constant build sneaks up on you AND when they finally get together it's all heart eyes and swoony and worth it.
So, I'm struggling with my rating for this book aghh.
“Going to tell me you love me, Cal?”
“No.”
Percy almost tripped, and Cal’s steady arm held him up. “Then what are your words?”
Cal leaned down and kissed him, cradling Percy’s face as he looked him in the eye. “I’m committed to you.”
The words fisted Percy’s heart. He let out a hiccupping sob. “Committed?” A gentle whisper hit his wet eyelashes.
“I’m here. I’m not leaving. This is it, you’re stuck with me.”
Percy and Cal are "nemesis" which makes for some great snark, banter and funny conversations and paves the way for friendship and love that sneaks up on everyone and proves to be just a label to protect themselves from hope.
Percy is grieving after losing his Aunt who was a real life angel for him, and now he can't fathom staying there even if the neighbors are wonderful, he just can't be haunted by the love and memories of his aunt that he won't have anymore, so his focus is to sell and get a fresh start, but while that's slowly happening, a nemesis becomes more than that, a mystery isn't so easily solved, and a Scorpio and Virgo figure many things out about themselves, friendship and love.
“You’re an open book— my open book— and I’ve been studying you for a long time.”
“Stop reading me so well.”
Cal didn’t laugh. He leaned in and cupped his face, fingers sliding over his jaw. “I can’t.”
I really loved these boys. Wit and snark like a tennis match, back and forth, each time it came back though there were new feelings attached to said snark and wit.
Percy was hurt and grieving through many things that he couldn't see in front of him, what was happening, what he was avoiding, his hurt was consuming him so he set his focus on something else. He's a great guy, just hurting.
Cal was good at hiding his feelings but his huge heart was there on show, family, a not quite nemesis and doing the right thing was what he done with all the intention always there.
The love here was subtle and a build up but it was real and you could feel how real and worth it, it is.
There was mystery, good intentions, dinosaurs, selflessness, jealousy and swoony as hell ending even if I was kinda cursing the author. I really hope we'll see these two again. Just saying.
I really would have liked to see more of Frank if I'm being honest, at the start I didn't like him but the more things progressed the more I wanted to get to know him more, I hope we see him in the future.
Loved seeing Jamie, Theo and Leone too.
My rating is 3.5 stars but rounding up to 4 Stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars but what I have enjoyed have been five stars
It would be probably a four stars reading rather than five, but what I have enjoyed have been five stars. The author returns to get what seems to resist many authors of MM, make a sweet NA without it being simple. In a beautiful way and slowly enveloping the reader in the world of the protagonists, Anyta presents Percy and Cal, adorable characters, well developed, that are forming a link with a wonderful slow burn. Percy has lost the only family he had left and in his eagerness to show no vulnerability is when he appears more vulnerable, funny, generous and with a lonliness that emanates from him throughout the novel until he finds his place with Cal, has awakened me a lot of tenderness. Cal, fun, generous, responsible, safe and insecure at the same time is the perfect counterpoint.
A positive point for the secondary ones, create together with the protagonists the atmosphere of that cul de sac where the story unfolds and the reader wants to be part, contributing with moments of fun and tenderness, Cal's family, neighbors, and the dear Leo and Jamie.
Anyta Sunday and I had a complicated beginning, I did not like what he did with Rocks and after finishing it it was a while until I read something back, but now he has become one of my favorites to enjoy a book.
