Pisces Hooks Taurus (Signs of Love Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 733 ratings

Pisces Hooks Taurus. He just doesn’t know it yet.

Zane Penn—creative, romantic
Pisces—has it all planned out: he’ll land the perfect Meet Cute, fall in love, get married and live happily ever after. And he’ll do it all before his visa runs out.

Beckett Fisher—patient, down-to-earth
Taurus—doesn’t believe in Love At First Sight. Or Happily Ever After. Or Zane’s grand plan, apparently.

Well, that just won’t do. Time to show the beautiful, princely professor that it can happen. Time to give him the bromance of a lifetime. . . .

. . . Time to ask why this feels like
more than bromance.

Dreamy Pisces will need a devoted Taurus to figure these new feelings out.

"Pisces Hooks Taurus" is an opposites attract, marriage of convenience, slow burn MM romance with a sweet HEA. This New Adult, age gap, friends-to-lovers novel is the fourth book in the Signs of Love series.

This series. This book. Exceptional. I have loved every inch, every page, every in-between. Each character has such a special way about them. This is at the fourth book in the Signs of Love series and the story follows Zane, a Kiwi who has a month left on his Visa before he's shipped back from the US to New Zealand. But he wants to stay in the US more than anything especially because he wants to stay close to his brother and his brother’s wife who is also his best friend and the two of them have just become parents.

So Zane has a plan: he will find the perfect girl of his dreams on one of his dating apps, fall in love, marry her and get to stay in the states. That’s the plan, anyway. Oh, and all this is to take place within 30 days.

But first off, he needs to find another place to stay and asks a friend of his brother's wife, a professor named Beckett, if he can crash with him temporarily. So what follows is a delightful slow burn romance between the two of them. But it’s not an easy road. Zane is clueless that his so-called “Bromance” with Beckett may be something more profound and we learn that Beckett is still broken-hearted and deeply scarred from a past relationship and is determined not to get his heart broken again.

I really loved both of their characters. Zane, our Pisces is young, naïve, romantic, and somewhat of a dreamer, so in this way, he comes across as quite innocent. He is also charming and super-sweet. Beckett, our Taurus, is mature, more serious, intellectual and studious though somewhat insecure and mistrusting of others following that horrible breakup.

So it was a delight watching the slow-burn between the two of them as Beckett would continuously erect borders with our clueless Zane unknowingly tearing them down. What I liked is the balance in the story. We have two very different personalities; a totally innocent and naïve character and one who’s jaded and mistrusting. As the tension builds, we see our bull lowering his guard and our fish growing in maturity and wisdom. I also loved how much both of these characters grew by the end of the story.

All in all, I felt that this slow-burn romance was realistic and heartfelt. It was a story full of banter, humor, affection, the building of tension as these two men realized their attraction to the other, and the blossoming of love, without too much angst.

I found it interesting that though Zane was initially searching for the perfect woman, his falling in love with Zane didn’t strike me as a gay-for-you trope, one that I typically don’t like. Rather, it felt like Zane’s bisexuality naturally unfolded as true affection developed between him and Beckett. Actually, I got the impression that Zane didn’t really experience sexual attraction to someone unless he has a strong emotional connection with them. So in this way, he struck me as possibly being more demisexual rather than bisexual.

Pisces Hooks Taurus was another lovely and sweet story by Anyta Sunday that made me a little misty-eyed at the end (as do most of her books). It’s the kind of story that makes you laugh and cry, and really ends up tugging at your heartstrings. Excellent plot, with lovable characters, endearing meddling family and neighbors, plenty of humor and snark and a sweet romance with a couple of steamy scenes thrown in at the end. It’s a story in which both of our characters knew what they wanted — it just took them some time to get there.

I’m loving this series and can’t wait to read the next book.

OMG, I LOVED this one. It was THE sweetest story! It was a combination of a love at first sight with a slow burn if you can believe it. Both Becky and Zane TOTALLY got it right. There was something magnetic about their first encounter for sure, but their time spent together, their easy friendship and simple gradual attraction (at least for Zane) that made their love story perfect.

Zane Penn wants to stay in the US, where his brother resides with his darling wife with a new baby girl addition. He never found himself in life. He is an artist, loves to draw, but unlike his siblings he was never an academic. Truth be told he didn't even really find himself in his own family besides his big brother - his closest friend. He has traveled the world with an inheritance he got a few years back but now he is ready to settle and he would rather do that closer to his brother than to their home growing up (in New Zealand). Settle down also means finding the love of his life. But time is running short. He has a MONTH until his visa is over and he doesn't even have a real place to stay.. Complicated to say the least.

Lucky for him his sister-in-law offers he stays with her good friend "Professor Becky". Having no other choice he decides to charm the older woman but when he realized Becky might be a professor but HE is actually not that much older than him.. well.. that changes mmm nothing! From their first few texts to their easy banter when they meet, it's obvious they are drawn to one another and thus they come to live together.

Though we only get Zane's POV, Becky - Beckett Fisher - is a rather open book to us, even if Zane doesn't always interpret him correctly, or even understands himself! He decides right from the start they should have a "Bromance" together. Becky isn't sure about THAT because his attraction to the beautiful, sweet and kind Zane makes it hard to just want to be friends but Zane considers himself straight so it's obvious he won't make any move.

Most of the story, more than two thirds, they are building a friendship. A real one. Though it's obvious Becky might wish in his heart for more, the confused one is Zane who doesn't know or realize his strange feelings for Becky shows he isn't totally straight.. he even jokes about it and yet until almost the very end he stays a bit oblivious. It was truly endearing because he was making so many romantic and sweet gestures, the only thing "missing" was the physical part. But he needed his time and Becky being so insecure about the whole thing needed his time as well. It's been a while even since his ex dumped him but he is still hurting. He isn't ready to give his heart away, especially not to someone younger than him, who doesn't consider himself to be gay and would soon be leaving the US..

I loved the whole thing. Zane seems so carefree but he carries in his heart so much hurt and insecurity. He opens his big heart to Becky offers him EVERYTHING and it's clear how much Becky is affected and how much he wants to help Zane see his worth yet he is also conflicted the whole time - get closer to Zane or try and keep his distance? and how can he possibly do that when Zane keeps being RIGHT THERE besides him, being a partner, a friend - so easily and naturally.

In the end they both need to make a decision. Time is running short. Their friends try and help, but mostly it's up to them. The turf of friends to lovers is a favorite of mine for sure and while Zane and Becky started their friendship recently they manage to truly become good friends. Ones who care about each other and help each other grow. They see one another, they do their best to help, not criticize and ACCEPT the other person. It was BEAUTIFUL to read.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Each one in this series can be read as a stand alone. Though there is the tiniest appearance of the MCs from the first book (Darla - Becky's neighbor - being Theo's grandmother) it really doesn't affect either book - BOTH are great (standalone) reads!

I'm gushing so hard I might lose my brain in a shriek!
The best part is that I didn't even want to read this. I wasn't interested after reading the blurb... regardless, I convinced myself, since this is the longest MM series I've actually followed through and considering my dear Anyta never, ever disappoints. And did she meet my expectations! Gosh!!

I loooove a good romantic comedy. I love a good dose of flourished verbiage. I melt when given puns that I can understand. But most of all, I burst in the face of a true love, hard core romance evoked by a well built slow-burn. This book supposedly happened in the curse of a month, but it was so intense I forgot about times and places, and focused on my dearest MCs.

At the very beginning I must confess I couldn't keep up with Zane. I thought he was all over the place. But then, he was such a character!! He has an incredibly strong personality, and before I knew it, I was hooked, charmed, swept off my feet and madly in love with his pursuit of a love story.

I cannot even begging with Beckett. He always made think "such a beautiful soul, such a beautiful person". I was mesmerized, enthralled, enchanted...

If you like words, romance, fun misadventures and Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice', this will be IT for you.

Pd. I loved Leo and Jamie's cameo. I'm so happy for them!

Yeah similar themes to the Theo and Jamie story but not so similar that it wasn't enjoyable for its own sweetness. I loved Beckett and Zane and was invested in their HEA!

I bought this book at around 10pm last night and I didn't finish reading until 4 this morning!! It's THAT GOOD, not to mention crazy adorable!

My favourite thing about Anyta's writing is definitely the slow-burn. These are easily my favourites, the tension she builds is so perfect that it's practically fizzing off the page and I LITERALLY cannot stop myself from reading.

The 'Signs of Love' series is all about bringing together two people who are pretty opposite in terms of their star signs and their personalities. Pisces Hooks Taurus is no exception and it's so much fun to see these two characters who seem at first to have almost nothing in common, grow so close.

As a word lover, I found this book particularly enjoyable as one of the characters is an English professor, whilst the other is intrigued by intelligence and so there's lots of cute and very fun wordplay and book appreciation to be found in Pisces Hooks Taurus.

Both Beckett and Zane are complex characters with unique personalities, challenges and character development arcs. They each have their own goals and obstacles to overcome and the two of them together provide plenty of laughs, especially when aided by a meddling, goodhearted elderly neighbour.

This story had me grinning from ear to ear, my toes curled in all the right places and the whole thing was just perfection, made even more so by the quotes from romance novels (mostly by Austen) separating each chapter.

"In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you."

I'm a mood reader, and when I picked up this book I wanted something that would cheer me up, and make me feel, this book swept me off my feet and I'm already contemplating re-reading the whole series.

Prepare yourself to meet Beckett and Zane, and brace your heart for an agonising slow-burn romance that will melt your heart.

'Beckett cast his gaze upward and muttered toward the stars, "Slow burn."'

Note: This book can be read as a standalone but honestly, this entire series is too good to be missed!

Like the other books in the series, it was a masterful slow burn. I really enjoyed most of it apart from some parts of the Zane character. His lack of knowledge and understanding wasn’t very believable and, maybe someone can enlighten me, I have no idea why he couldn’t read or write until he was 10 years old?!

Everything about him being a kiwi irked me. I don’t know if the author lived in NZ for a minute, took a holiday, or just had a skewed view, but it was weird. Apart from some cliche one liners and some incorrect assumptions, there was nothing “kiwi” about the character.

Anyway, I’ll carry on with the rest of the series because I do like the style of writing and the way her characters relate to each other is wonderful.

“Let’s not forget how the story ends, Professor.”
He tilted his head an inch, clasped Beckett’s face, and kissed him.

    *insert swooniest sigh*

Anyta Sunday sure knows how to do a slow-burn romance. Yet make it so romantic the whole way there.
Is this the most romantic in the series so far?
I think so. Felt like it to me.
It's clueless MC and slow burn romance like omg-I'm-goingtofreakingexplodeiftheydontkissrightnow-slow burn.
    YET
In this book for me it was that but different because there was bromantic -snort- touches and feelings and falling in love chapter by chapter.
The jealousy was low-key yet wasn't and I loved it.

This book is wonderful and I just want to squee and melt into the cuteness that this story was.

Beckett's hurt hurted me. He deserved the love that Zane had hidden away for him.
Zane made me laugh out loud. That guy is so lovable. He deserved the love Becky was terrified to hand over.

“How about I tell her you have a boyfriend? A boyfriend who, although he claims he’s okay with you dating others, really isn’t, but doesn’t know how to say that because you guys just met, and deep down he is so broken that he doesn’t know if he can risk loving again. But regardless, this boyfriend is jealous as F that you have a date tonight or any night.”

This book is the kind of story I love all the way. The one I'm always chasing. This whole series is.
It's so romantic in the purest ways. The humour, the friendships and the realizations are all the pieces to the puzzle.
I adore this series and these characters and don't want it to end.

    Jacob is a great brother.
    Darla is a cunning darling.
Finnegan is awesome and I want his book.

I loved this. It made me smile silly. Zane ia absolutely loveable, he's belief in true love and romance is so nice to read. He can be completely oblivious in a wonderful way and it was a joy readin how he tore down Becketts walls. Beckett is guarded from his heartbreak but never patronises or looks down on Zane for dropping out of high school. Anyone who does is seen and written as a jerk.
The slow burn was brilliant and kept me reading til the end. I didnt realise this was the fourth book (my bad) so I'm now definately checking out the rest.
