Silence of the Moon (Secrets of the Moon Book 2) Kindle Edition
A werewolf in mourning.
Alec Channing has been through enough trauma to bring any ordinary person to their knees, but recent events might be the final straw that breaks him. Especially when he discovers he’s lost not just the only constant in his life but something far greater. Meanwhile, a sinister plot is brewing that threatens not only him but the entire preternatural world. But he isn’t alone. Can the man he may be ready to love help him pick up the pieces in time?
A homicide detective with more questions than answers.
Detective Damien O’Connor of the Columbus Police Department has seen things his colleagues could only imagine. He’s directly responsible for the loss that sends his werewolf lover hurtling toward the breaking point. While the man he’s come to love is suffering, a new case lands in his lap that leaves him questioning everything and losing more than he’d bargained for. But sometimes moving forward means stepping back and letting others shoulder the burden for a while. Can he and his team solve the case before he finds himself without a home to return to?
Silence of the Moon is Book Two of the Secrets of the Moon trilogy, an 112k-word M/M, paranormal crime/mystery romance, with a solid HFN ending. This book is NOT A STANDALONE and contains heavy spoilers for Death of the Moon. While there is a complete story arc in this book, there are plot threads ending on a soft cliffhanger that concludes in the last installment of the trilogy. There is language and explicit intimate scenes not suitable for readers under the age of 18. Warnings: MC with PTSD, past torture implied, dealing with grief and self-doubt.

About the author

S.A. Pavlik writes what she wants to read but that doesn’t exist … yet. An avid reader, she first discovered and promptly devoured hundreds of M/M romance novels in 2019, and it rekindled her desire to write. She started her debut novel, Death of the Moon, the very next year.
She was born and raised in Wisconsin, where it’s too cold, but she loves it there anyway. She lives with her husband and her little chaos demons: a pair of kittens the universe found just for her. When she isn’t reading or writing, she’s obsessively playing video games or proving that an introvert can be an extrovert on the internet after all.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2023Wow! What a story!
Alec and Damien’s saga continues in probably one of the best Book 2’s I’ve ever read. The excitement, old and new secondary characters, and twists and turns keeps you on the edge of your seat! Also, just like Book 1, Book 2 has an incredible depth to it-characters, plot, you name it!
Excuse me now as I have a therapist session on how I’m going to deal with the fact that I have to wait until 2024 for Book 3 to come out!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2023I loved this second entry in the Secrets of the Moon series. Do things get complicated? Yes. Did that totally pull me back into this world and keep me fully immersed? Definitely. Did I love every minute of it? Absolutely! This is one of those series that I’d want to see turned into a television series or movie…and yes, as mentioned in the blurb you do need to read Death of the Moon first otherwise you will not know what is going on (I’d recommend reading them one right after the other since there is quite a bit going on).
Things have gotten more stressful for Alec after the events in the first book, and Damien’s team is getting involved in more obviously paranormal-related cases. Add to this the fact that were-creatures in their area are experiencing odd affects on their senses and shifting abilities, and the issue seems to be spreading and that means there is a lot going on all at once.
Through it all Damien and Alec’s relationship continues to deepen, and Damien keeps showing his dedication and unconditional love. Their inner circle is widening, and I love how they are all turning into the very definition of “found family”. They all work well together, and the addition of a new fox, Rin, is intriguing as it becomes a big factor in the story.
There’s a lot I want to say, but doing so would spoil so much for both Death of the Moon and Silence of the Moon. If you’re a fan of paranormal mystery and romance with unique touch, this series is going to really hit the spot. It is easy to become wonderfully lost in the story, and it will keep you on edge the entire time you’re reading. And sprinkled amongst the suspense you’ll find some hot and sexy times between Damien and Alec ;-)
Silence of the Moon was a 5-star read for me, and every star was well deserved. I can’t wait for the third book, and I am also excited for two more related trilogies that will be coming after…I am really looking forward to reading more about the seemingly complicated relationship between two of the supporting characters, Jac and Thatch. For now, I’m going to highly recommend that if you haven’t started this series yet that you go ahead and go clickety-click, especially if you love M/M paranormal mystery/romance stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2023Silence of the Moon is the second book in the Secrets of the Moon trilogy and a continuation of the story. This is definitely a series that must be read in order due to the continued story arcs and character progression between books.
I enjoyed Death of the Moon and was intrigued to see where Alec and Damien’s story would go next, especially given the somewhat sad close of the first book. Silence of the Moon definitely delivered more of this intense story. The author creates a fabulous and original world full of magic, shifters, were-creatures, and more. I really appreciate the many facets of the world and how the story is interwoven with some mystery and suspense that involves a criminal investigation component.
The pacing of Silence of the Moon does feel a little slower at times, but I think this is in part due to the multitude of details and subplots the author combines in this novel. However, the action sequences and final battle scene are done very well and read with such energy and attention to detail that it is hard to look away. If you enjoy fantasy stories that create a memorable collection and often have you wondering what will be around the next corner, I’d recommend the Secrets of the Moon series.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2023I could not put this book down! If you haven’t read Death of the Moon, go read that first. This book continues from events in the first and I almost wished I re-read the first book to refresh my memory. The book takes place a short time after the end of the last book and once again we are in the world of Alec and Damien. They are further along in their relationship and basically live together.
They have a wonderful dynamic that continues to grow throughout the book. Damien’s personality allows Alec to work through some of the issues from his past and be more open to the affection that he is offering.
This book kept me so invested with one twist after another leading you down a road. I had so many questions by the middle of the book - I had to restrain myself from taking sneak peeks at the end because it was just that great of a ride and I didn’t want to spoil it for myself (which is very unusual for me). Literally up until the end I was on the edge of my seat.
Also so many other great side characters in this book. So where does this group go from here? I cannot wait to see how this trilogy ends up and how the next set unfolds. So many questions and teasers-what’s the deal with Thatcher and why do him and Jac have to deal with Michigan? I will be waiting patiently for the next installment!

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as the first
Another good read although I was disappointed book 3 is so far away :( Things are changing, magic is shifting. A series to be read in order and they are a nice long read so you can sink into this other world. Highly recommended.
