Welcome to Rendezvous Falls, New York, where love is where you least expect it…

When accountant Whitney Foster’s carefully calculated life blows up, she escapes to the one place that’s always felt like home. But Rendezvous Falls has changed since she’s been away. Her aunt Helen’s winery is in trouble. And she doesn’t trust the sexy, surly stranger working the vineyard as far as she can throw him.

Luke Rutledge would do anything for Helen, who’s been like a mother to him. Revive the winery? Sure. Repair her property? No problem. Tolerate Helen’s infuriating, big-shot niece? Well…maybe. But as he and Whitney are forced to work together to rebuild the business, her chilly facade reveals a woman as complex and intoxicating as a fine merlot. Throw in a matchmaking book club hell-bent on happily-ever-after and it’s a potent cocktail.

Love should never be calculated. But it doesn’t take Whitney’s math skills to see that this is adding to up to one tantalizing adventure…

About the Author

Award-winning romance author Jo McNally lives in her beloved upstate New York with her very own romance hero husband. When she’s not writing or reading romance novels, she loves to travel and explore new places and experiences. She's a big fan of leisurely lunches with her besties. Her favorite room at home is the sunroom, where she enjoys both morning coffee and evening cocktails with her husband while listening to an eclectic (and often Irish) playlist.

Jo McNally is an award-winning author who writes contemporary romances with love, laughter and hard-won HEAs.

Jo lives in Upstate New York with 100 pounds of dog and 200 pounds of husband – her slice of the bed is very small. When she's not writing or reading romance novels (or clinging to the edge of the bed...), she can often be found on the back porch sipping wine with friends while listening to an eclectic playlist. If the weather is absolutely perfect, she might join her husband on the golf course, where she feels far more competitive than her actual skill-level would suggest.

Welcome to Rendezvous Falls

Welcome to Rendezvous Falls
“Slow Dancing at Sunrise” by Jo McNally introduces us to Rendezvous Falls and its residents. In this book, we meet Luke Rutledge, Whitney Foster, and Helen Russo (Whitney’s aunt). Whitney comes to Rendezvous Falls after her career explodes in Chicago. It’s been too long since she visited and the guilt she feels when she discovers her aunt is still in mourning propels Whitney to try to save the family winery, Falls Legend. Unfortunately, she has to deal with Luke Rutledge, who’s been overseeing the winery since the passing of Whitney’s uncle. Luke had made a promise to Tony Russo to look after Helen and the winery. He’s doing his best and the last thing he needs is Helen’s niece accusing him of stealing from the business. With the town’s upcoming wine festival, he doesn’t need Whitney following him around and asking questions. The one thing Whitney and Luke have in common is Helen and the two will do what needs to be done to get the winery back on track, even if it means working together. Luke and Whitney are fabulous together—even when they try not to be. Luke is an honorable man, though he doesn’t see himself that way. Whitney is used to taking care of everyone around her and following a plan she set for herself. But of course, the heart has other ideas. There is also a secondary storyline with Helen as we watch her deal with her grief after losing her husband as she tries to live again. She and her book club friends decide to do a little matchmaking on the side. Whitney is their first attempt and, though their initial plans don’t work out, they do end up getting the results they want. Filled with rich characterization and descriptive phrases, Ms. McNally welcomes us to Rendezvous Falls and Fall Legend Winery. I absolutely adored “Slow Dancing at Sunrise” and am excited to read the next installment, “Stealing Kisses in the Snow”.

The Finger Lakes in New York State are one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. That is why I particularly enjoyed Jo McNally's new release Slow Dancing at Sunrise. Set on a struggling vineyard in the Finger Lakes, this romance starts off unromantically.

The heroine Whitney arrives at her Aunt's vineyard hoping to find refuge from her recent job loss. Instead, she find the place where she once spent her summers in ruinous condition and being run by a scruffy, untrustworthy looking man she doesn't know.

The hero Luke, confronted with a big city girl with attitude, takes an immediate stand-offish position that will take an entirely novel, and the aunt's busybody book group to change. If you are looking for a spit-fire romance in a delightful setting, this is the book for you.

I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily reviewed it.

Had two daughters read it BEFORE I could get my hands on it. It's easy to identify with the book's characters and it never fails to entertain. Good read.

Whitney Foster’s carefully constructed life falls apart when high level accountant partners wrongfully throw her under the bus to cover up a big mistake. Whitney returns home to a widowed aunt and their winery in the Finger Lakes area. Both Whitney and Helen are dealing with grief for varying reasons, but when Whitney sees how far things have fallen at the winery, she adds a heavy dose of guilt to her list of woes. Luke Rutledge has done everything he possibly can to keep the vineyard afloat so does not appreciate Helen’s niece showing up and immediately putting him on the defensive. He grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and has been trying to escape his family’s bad reputation his whole life. Helen and her husband, Tony, gave look a real home when he was a young, neglected boy.

Helen has just started coming out of fog from her loss, so having Whitney back galvanizes her to not only bring revive the business, but with the help of a meddling book club, find a love interest for Whitney. Whitney and Luke start out as adversaries even though they need to work together to help Helen out. Whitney works her way through the accounting nightmare for the business while a relationship with Luke becomes enemies to lovers. Luke and being back in Rendezvous Falls slowly changes everything Whitney thought she wanted from life.

These two very stubborn people with a lot of emotional baggage have a quite a tug-a-war going on for most of the book. Luke continually struggles with feeling the town will never see him as anything more than worthless because of his family. Those self-esteem issues and Whitney’s own personal difficulties create problems for their relationship. First in the Rendezvous Falls series, more of the town’s inhabitants will be featured in future stories. For a romance, the angst is a bit drawn out and tedious at times, but this is still a pleasant read for those who like stories about the vagaries of life and love conquering all.

Halfway through this delightful book I already knew it was going to be a five star read!

After losing her job under very trying circumstances, Whitney is taking temporary refuge at her Aunt Helen's winery, but is shocked to see the shabby state of the place. Uncle Tony passed away a couple of years ago, and the winery seems to have gone downhill since then. And Whitney is sure that the hired hand, Luke, is taking advantage of her aunt. So of course from their first meeting she and Luke clash, and clash hard.

I loved Whitney, and Luke, and Helen. Helen and her book club group of friends set out on a hilarious matchmaking scheme, trying to find dates for Whitney in hopes that she'll fall in love and make Rendezvous Falls her permanent home. It never occurs to them that she will fall for Luke, since those two obviously do not get along. They must not read a lot of romance novels in their book club!

It's always refreshing to not have a hero who is rich and successful. In addition to shouldering the burden of running the winery after Helen checked out in her grief over losing Tony, Luke works a second job as a bartender in order to pay rent to Helen for his apartment over the tasting room. Whitney puts her accounting skills to the test and begins going over the winery's messy finances, and when she discovers Luke's solution to how to pay the bills, I was a bit horrified and admiring at the same time. Not to mention very amused.

Once they finally give in to attraction, there was steam coming off the pages, very well written steam, without being crass or too graphic. The whole book is just delightful, and I'm eager to get the next Rendezvous Falls book, “Stealing Kisses in the Snow”!
