Something Wicked (Black and Blue Series Book 3) Kindle Edition
After powerful psychic Blue Billings fell in love with Levi Black, he believed their biggest challenges would arise from Blue’s ability to see and speak to the dead. So it’s rather alarming when he and Levi are confronted with a spate of new—and frightening—problems that have to do with the realm of the living.
A sadistic serial killer is stalking their beloved York, and Blue himself is in the killer’s crosshairs. Blue and Levi must race against time to catch the murderer as the deaths increase in ferocity. But when they’re forced from their home, and close acquaintances seemingly disappear like mist over the Minster’s spires, Blue finds that he is completely and terrifyingly on his own, and for the first time in his life, he’s without his powers.
This is the third book in the bestselling Black and Blue series. The books are meant to be read in order.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2024This whole series has achieved five star ratings from me, which I only give out to KU books that are so good I buy them. A few of those series have become one-click books for me, and this is one of those very few. If a book is purchase-only, it needs to be so good that if it was KU, I’d buy it. Otherwise, if I like a book but don’t immediately fall in love with it, it’s a four-star at best.
This series is a complete departure from the sunny, “summery” romances Morton is best known for. I like those, but not enough to one-click them. They share the witty, funny dialogue with this series, but that’s about all. These books are terrifying! I don’t read horror, so I don’t know how these stack up, but compared to other ghost story-type horror, I’ve got to think these would hold their own. I picked up the first Black and Blue book off name recognition, and although it was really scary, it also had Morton’s wonderful dialogue and the romance to counter the scariness. Horror or not, I went back and bought it, then off of the strength of that first book, bought the second one without even checking it out on KU. Off the strength of those two, I one-clicked this one, and I loved it. Also unlike her other series, she continues to build the relationship between Blue and Levi instead of couple-hopping, as well as continuing to show Blue’s growth, not only of his psychic abilities, but as a person.
The plot is well-constructed, with the police consulting with Blue on a missing person/serial killer case. From there, Morton builds a mystery focused first on finding victims and gathering clues. The pace is quick enough that identifying the killer in many ways doesn’t start until the second half of the book. At that point, Morton has introduced enough possibilities that the waters are well-muddied. I did guess the culprit well before the denouement, and that always disappoints me a bit, but I seem to do that a lot, so hopefully it will remain a mystery right up until the end for other readers who prefer that. Obtaining the clues was the real plot, in my opinion, where most of the emotion (and horror) happened. The culprit became almost secondary to the victims for me, so guessing the perp & motives were not a terrible disappointment that would cause me to take off a star.
The book was also proofread and polished, ready for a paying audience, which is always important to me. I highly recommend this book even if horror is not your genre. The beautiful relationship growing with the series offsets it. However, check the sample for trigger warnings before you buy. (If you aren’t sure how to do this without buying the book, choose Read Sample under the cover picture on the product page, then scroll up just a bit when it opens to the first chapter to see the Content Warning.)

All the scenes are written with exquisite attention to detail and it is one of the best out there. You will want to start with book one and just enjoy the ride!

Wow!
This series keeps getting better and better, while getting creepier and creepier! And more graphic, too. Although I loved this book, I had a hard time with a couple scenes- they were tough to listen to and made me sad.
But overall this is a fantastic edition to the series! It kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat- what more could you want?
Joel Leslie does a wonderful job bringing Levi and Blue to life, love his narration!
I hope there's more to come in the Black and Blue world.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2024I was a little concerned because the description of the book mentioned that Blue would have to deal with the loss of his gift. Don’t worry, that is just a blip in the plot and he figures what is happening soon enough.
Creepy in parts, funny in others, but always loving, the book was a joy to read and I just regret that I will now have to wait for the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2024Aha, another exciting adventure with the amazing Blue psychic and his trusty beau, Levi. I love this multi-faceted yarn. I loved the MCs, the supporting characters, the atmosphere, and the mystery. This tale has it all, a psychic - “I see dead people”, a detective investigation, a fiendish series killer, and romance with sexy bits. Receiving honorable mention, Blue’s eclectic group of sidekicks. Oh, by the way, this story has scary bits, too. My only critique is the segue from normal MC interactions to the serial killer murders. It seemed abrupt. Finally, I recommend reading this whimsical, yet intriguing book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2024I love this series and the spinoff with Will. I have my fingers crossed that there will be many more to come.
The love between Blue and Levi shines off the page. It gives me the warm fuzzies. I finally get the phrase “relationship goals”. I really enjoy books where the conflict is external to the couple and they face those challenges together.
Blue really has come into his abilities and more. I can’t wait to see what else he’ll be able to do. Tom is still a grouchy old man with a heart of gold. Viscount Ingram is still obsessed with the occult in a hilarious way. And my second favorite couple, Will and Jem, show that same loving united front. (I loved them in The Sceptic).
The plot was first class with just the right balance of murder mystery plus psychic elements. I got a huge kick out of the ending!
I highly recommend this entire series. It’s an instant buy for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love my new favourite series
How am I meant to deal with life now that I'm all caught up in this series!? Come the heck on! I seriously have a Black and Blue addiction. You could feed me these two making laundry, or taking their dog out for a walk (n0t that they have one), and I'd read the heck out of it without a word of complaint. Their chemistry and sync are off the charts, and I seriously couldn't love them together more than I already do. One thing I love about this series is that, no matter how dire the odds or how much one of them messed up, they talk things through from a place of love and care. Neither of them threatens to break up, nor do they feel like that's a possibility. It speaks volumes about the strong foundation of their love, and I personally feel like we need so much more of this healthy dynamic within MLM books.
The murder mystery was alright, but in my opinion, its pacing was a bit all over the place. For a good chunk of the book all we got were clues that we couldn't really do anything with, because there wasn't enough info to try and connect them, and I felt like it got a bit repetitive precisely because I, as a reader, couldn't try to venture any guess. On the one hand, the clues didn't progress or start making sense, and on the other, it became a series of demonstrations of Blue doing psychic stuff and being ultra powerful.
Still, I quite enjoyed the book, and because it's Levi and Blue and I'm a SUCKER for them nobody can stop me from giving this its hard-earned five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good.
Rating: A definite 5 plus.
Thank goodness, this book is my reward for my last two books being somewhat disappointing. And I have to commend Lily Morton for writing such diverse books as her romcom series’ and the Black and Blue series.
Just fantastic.
As was this book. This is really edge of the seat stuff with the danger levels continually rising for Blue and Levi as they race to find the person who is targeting the homeless and murdering them and leaving their body parts in various places near to where Blue and Levi have their home.
This has all the elements that I love, the interesting psychic aspect, the who (or what) dunnit and the love and banter that Blue and Levi share.
A really great read and I’m only sorry that this may be the last of Blue and Levi. I hope not - there are surely more adventures in store for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant
Brilliant, just brilliant. I loved both the previous books but I think this is probably my favourite even though it scared the bejesus out of me.
The clue is in the title and oh boy there was plenty of evil. Each book has played the paranormal theme differently and in this book Blue and Levi are dealing with a real life serial killer full of pure malicious evil and this killer seems to have a fixation on Blue.
The victims are vulnerable, helpless homeless people and the fact that Blue and his best friend Will grew up amongst them makes this story really tug on your heart strings. When the killer changes their MO and steps up their game we are taken on an adrenaline packed ride where Blue and his chosen family of Levi, Tom, Will and Jem have to find the killer before they catch Blue.
As usual Blue cannot help but rush headlong into the most dangerous scenarios for a psychic, leaving Levi frazzled and Tom, his mentor, trying to hide his fear whilst being full of admiration for Blue and the powers he has.
The love and support Levi and Blue have for one another is breathtaking. No matter how dangerous, Levi will follow Blue to the ends of the earth to keep him safe and there is nothing Blue wouldn’t do for Levi.
I was so pleased that Rosalind made an appearance and oh boy what an appearance. She is one ghost you do not want to rile and I loved the glimpse Blue had into her softer side.
This book is a rollercoaster of emotions, fast paced, hair raising, edge of seat stuff laced with banter, plenty of love, hot sexy times, ghosts that make you want to cry for them and of course lots of Lily’s usual snark. A wonderful book and I can’t recommend it highly enough. To get the full experience you should read the previous two books first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shivers & Swoon!
Cover - 5/5
My god Lily! How is it that one second I was biting my nails and looking over my shoulder and the next Levi & Blue have me sighing and swooning at them!??? These two are so cute together! I love how well balanced this story progressed, the unraveling of the mystery all the while giving us front seat at the domestic bliss Levi and Blue have going on. It felt like home. So warm and so funny and just a breeze reading these two. It was fantastic and a privilege to know the deep love these two share and the sweet moments just made me, ughhh so 😍
I'm really trying not to write this review in heart emojis! Gosh. This was amazing and Lily Morton is one of the finest fiction writers of this genre. Thank you Lily. And please never stop ~
