4.2 out of 5 stars 67 ratings

In the game of love, sometimes a little spell is needed.

When Mercedes isn’t turning wrenches for her family’s classic car restoration business, she's logging into her favorite virtual massive multiplayer online role-play game and losing herself in adventures with friends. With no luck on the dating scene thanks to a cybernetic enhancement, she’s ready to throw in the towel and focus on her passions.
But her closest friend, Takashi, keeps her from quitting on love just yet. Could he be the one to look past her artificial flaw and show her what it means to be cared for?

Family and the most popular VMMORPG in existence are Takashi's life. He's found his business calling in the in-game economics that seamlessly meshes with the real world. But after meeting a fiery blonde named Mercedes through a guildmate, his interests broadened.
Can he convince her he can look past her cybernetic and see the real her, or will he lose her for good when life tries to sabotage his efforts at every turn?

I truly loved this book. The author did a great job of getting inside each characters heads. Some review might say it took too long for the characters to get together and then were immediately faced with a problem that almost tore them apart but that's any real relationship. Sure, they had issue but the point is to work through it all and come out the other side better which is exactly what these characters do. From personal experience, I can fully understand and relate to the characters thoughts and feelings. These are very real characters that the author dives deep into especially when it comes to a persons insecurities. This is one of the most relatable stories I have ready in a long time. 100% 5 stars. Keep writing!

I'm not a gamer. Still, I enjoyed the book. I'll probably get the second one later. Interesting world I've been introduced to here. The big reason why only four stars is the plethora of weird little things. Needs a good proof read.

I found this book to be really enjoyable. I love the setting and the descriptions the author provides for non-gamers to better understand things. It’s definitely got some cheese to it, but in a cute way! Also, the AI assistants are definitely some of the best side “characters” I’ve read in a long time!

Well I have to say that I am really glad that I read Summoning their Elementalist first instead of this book first. If I had read this one first... I'm not sure I would have continued to read the series or even another book by this author... I loved reading the Elementalist books enormously. I loved everything about them... this book... not so much.

My main problem with this book is Mercedes. I couldn't really stand her. I didn't like all the flip flopping back and forth she did. I also really hated how she treated Takashi when there was a misunderstanding between them. She treated him like it was all his fault and that he did it on purpose. When he showed her proof that it was the farthest thing from the truth she still didn't believe him and wouldn't talk to him. He was bending over backwards trying to connect with her and tell her what happened and she couldn't even give him the time of day. It really made me sick. And then when she finally decides to believe what he is telling her and decides he has groveled enough (even though it wasn't his fault) she just jumps right back into things like nothing happened.

I really enjoyed the last two books in this series and I am hoping that I will enjoy the next one in the series more then I enjoyed this one.

I love reading about the many ways people overcome problems.Especially hard ones like this series brings up. The strength it takes to overcome this kind of problem is amazing, but with great friends, love of family to help is what really makes these books great. I suggest reading this set in order to see is you are moved and inspired like I was.

I was very intrigued when I read the description for the book. I was not disappointed in the least. It is definitely spellbinding story that was fun and enjoyable. This is a gamer, friends to lovers story that is realistic in the challenges they face. I thought the story was well developed with great characters. I really liked Mercedes and Takashi. Their acceptance and passion for each other was wonderful.

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.*

Set in the future, this geeky duo show what is means to find happiness. One of the best reads I've come across in a while. I absolutely recommend to those that love tech and those sapiophiles looking for their next hit.

Shallow writing Harlequin Romance formula. Does the author even game? If you like Litrpg don't buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book took me by surprise and I could not put it down!

The future is all about cybernetics and VMMORPG through a virtual game that feels like real life. Mercedes is all about cars and gaming but her love life is a disaster. Takashi’s life is his auction business set in the gaming world but also his best friend Mercedes! When he realises she means more to him than just friends, will he be able to convince her to give him a chance?

This is a story about love and hardship! I was gripped by this new world and read this book in one sitting. I am eager to read the next book in the series and more from this author!
