Rory Maxwell discovered romance novels on her mom’s bookshelf when she was probably too young to be reading them—the reward for being a nosy kid with great reading comprehension. The magic of a dial-up internet connection led her to the wonderful world of MM fanfiction a few years later and she fell in love with the genre. In 2019 she woke up with a plot bunny, opened a word doc, and started trying to figure out how this writing stuff worked.

Rory grew up outside of Washington, DC, moved away, and then came back for reasons she doesn’t fully understand. An artist and writer, she always has too many exciting ideas and not nearly enough free time. One day, she hopes to escape to the mountains where she can work from home and write as much as she wants. In the meantime, she splits her time between her day job and writing MM romance with heart, heat, and happy endings.

Lovely story! Both Ev and Gabe are unique characters with full personalities and histories. They’re developed nicely and their love story is all that and more, plus the spice is 🔥!! 10/10 would recommend this read, now off to find some more Rory Maxwell content !!

    Ev hooked up with his Boss, Gabe on New Year's when neither knew who the other was. At midnight, Ev saw it was Gabe but apparently Gabe didn't see Ev so Ev is now sweating it out at work. His wants for a Daddy and admitting it was the best hook up ever, constantly fight the desire to keep it a secret. Gabe meanwhile tries to find out who it was. It was an entertaining premise that kept on going. I loved this book and their relationship, Ev's independence and yet needing a Daddy, Gabe needing to be a caretaker. One of my favorites in this series, it just keeps getting better. I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.

    Every book I read in this series becomes my favorite. The way these couples come together is so well written. The moment it becomes more than fun and the love comes through, makes us all gooey inside. Just like all our other couples, Gabe and Ev were made for each other, not Judy for their kink side, but in every other way, even when working together. The spice is nice and the love is heartwarming...and of course we get to see all our other friends again. This book really ended too soon for me. I know I say that all the time, but this time I mean it.

    Loved these two together. They worked well. Loved reading about a middle. We don’t get much of those so I was happy to read about a middle getting his HEA. Love the video games and comfy pjs. Wish we would have gotten a little more of what that looks like but am happy for what we got. Gabe is a great daddy! Patient. My only bleh about this book was not really understanding how they could pretend they didn’t know the other person when they literally looked at each other. That was a little weird. Loved the smexy and loved the side characters

    This book takes place in NYC with a cameo of some of the Split Rock Ranch characters. In this story, Ev is a middle who wishes for nothing more than a Daddy. After being betrayed in the past by those who were supposed to love him, including a bad experience with a cheating Daddy, Ev has sworn off any relationship with a boss. Unfortunately, his boss, Gabe exudes Daddy vibes. When they accidentally hook up at a masquerade New Year's Eve event, Ev is torn between desire and his promise to himself.

    This low-angst, kinky story goes through some twists and turns, following a path toward healing and trust. Gabe, also, doesn't see himself as interested in a relationship in the beginning. These two men get there eventually in this fun, relaxing love story.

    First of all let me just start by saying BRAVA to Rory Maxwell for this fantastically written book. It was such a refreshing read in a style that was both familiar but also unique. The language used throughout this book shows the author has a real understanding of male sexuality and the world of kink in general.
    A common thing I’ve found when reading other books is the use of words and language that a man would never use, other authors seem to be fond of words like ‘glands’ to describe a part of the male anatomy, and I can say as a guy that I never used that work to describe anything south of the border. This author has gone a step further than others and uses a real-life vocabulary that makes the story all the more believable and keeps you in the scene.
    The author also shows a keen understanding of the world of kink, also bigs and littles, which shows the true interest in the subject she is writing about which again keeps us involved in the story and doesn’t take us out of the sweaty, kinky world she has so magically created.

    I fell in love with Everett from the beginning but as more was built into his character with the revelation of his musical talents and his past, it made him more realistic and enabled me to really connect with the character. I found myself caring about him and when he was upset it made me feel the same which shows the power of this truly great author.
    And what can I say about Gabe other then “DADDY!”. The way he is described and written makes for one hot character that truly makes the reader drool. But not only are shown his kink dom side but also the kind and loving soul behind it all who just wants to protect his little from anything that might hurt him, unless he’s asking really nicely to be hurt that is.

    I don’t want to give away too much of the story by saying too much else other than you need to read this book. It’s a great read that will have you hooked from the very beginning to the very last word. Brava Rory, Brava!

    Ev had a history of bad experiences and getting involved with his bosses until he goes to a New Year’s Eve masquerade party and realises the man he’s been with is no one other than his new boss. This was a fun read with a boy and his daddy. I enjoyed all of the other characters from previous books and loved Gabe and Ev together. I can’t wait for Owen’s book to come out.

    Rory Maxwell has written a fun book about a Daddy and Middle who are boss and employee which causes problems for Ev, who is Gabe’s PA and is determined to never date a boss of his again. Definitely can be read as a standalone as I had no trouble with it even though I haven’t read all of the other books in the Split Rock Ranch series. It’s an easy to enjoy story that has some interesting conflicts and content but isn’t terribly high angst. I loved the back and forth between Ev and Gabe as they fall hard and fast but try to keep away from having a relationship. Very sweet and satisfying.
