Strip Me Kindle Edition

3.7 out of 5 stars 41 ratings

This sizzling and passionate romance follows two men whose lives are turned upside down by their intense mutual attraction.

Sam Richmond is a workaholic in danger of becoming the very man he despises—his father. Stressed and sick with worry, he’s desperate to shake off the shackles that bind him to his current path and embark on a life lived only for himself.

His friends are determined to pull him out of his funk and decide to drag him to a strip club that caters to both men and women. Sam is shocked when he develops an attraction to the show’s male headliner: Rico McIntyre. The two men end up in a backroom for a private lap dance that ends up being a game-changer for them.

Because, despite the fact that they both identify themselves as heterosexual, they decide to explore their strange attraction for one another—if only for one night. But one night quickly becomes another and then another, until a misunderstanding tears the two apart. Both men attempt to forget about the other, only for life to unexpectedly reunite them.

Can Sam and Rico embark on a relationship and come to terms with their new understandings of themselves and who they love? Or are they doomed from the start?

I am an author with genealogical ties to many famous authors from Massachusetts. I have published two books so far and I'm diligently working on the third. I love to write in several different genres - YA, paranormal romance, contemporary and historical, just to name a few. If I have a story to tell, I'll tell it in whatever genre it presents itself to me.

So let me start by saying that this is the first book I've ever read like this that was focused purely on a same-sex relationship. I've never minded a little M/M in my books, so I thought, "why not?". I'm glad I did. Not only was this book seriously steamy, but I also enjoyed the story. I liked the way the author built up the relationship between the two main characters, it was believable. I'm kinda sad the author ended the story where they did, I really wanted to see more. *spoiler alert* I wanted to see how Sam's family reacted to him having a relationship with Rico. Would his dad completely reject him and not give him the company? Seemed likely based on how he was in the book, and I wanted to see where that went and what happened from there. I wanted to see more of Rico's kids and how the relationship worked after that first introduction. It was nice getting that tiny piece in the Epilogue, but I wanted to see more. Other than where the story ended, I don't have any real complaints about the book. It was a good read. Short, but good.

For the audiobook- kudos to the amazing narrators - both were phenomenal.

For the story…. Liked the start - it was far fetched but it was hot and I can suspend disbelief because I thought it was going somewhere different. Then we get to the second meeting of the characters and story progresses like a bad stereotype of heterosexual relationship where a woman (Rico in this book) uses sex (or lack thereof) to progress into a relationship while the man (Sam in this book) comes of as being a manwhore afraid of commitment who is only interested in sex. The cliche of these roles is frustrating but what makes it even worse and hard to get through is that we hear Rico SAYING he wants more than sex but doesn’t open up about critical things in his own life. He holds himself back instead of being honest and tries to manipulate things while running hot and cold himself. Then we hear Sam SAYING he wants Rico sexually- and he doesn’t shut up about it. The dialogue in the book seems like it was trying so hard to keep him in that role - meanwhile, he introduces Rico to his mother and sister, offers him an job, introduces him to his friends, tries to cater to his needs. He admits to his fears about coming out. He admits that he wants more but isn’t sure. The dialogue and actions of the characters just didn’t seem to mesh and the hot/cold switch ups got frustrating.

Sam’s friends take him out to a strip club that caters to both men and women. He is shocked when he is attracted to Rico. They share a private lap dance and sparks fly. This is a fast-paced read with lots of drama and suspense. I liked the characters and the roller coaster ride of their relationship. An entertaining read.

honestly, insta-love/lust doesn't bother me. i don't mind the gay-for-you trope either. the only thing i require is that whatever the trope you're using, you do it well.

unfortunately, in strip me, the best way to describe this plot is ham-fisted. putting aside the crazy way these two characters hook up with each other, the issue i have with this book is how it tries to bring it all together. the characters hook up until they're not. then run into each other again and decide to try for real. except it's a secret. oh and one of them has some other really crazy secrets. oh and those crazy curveball secrets are revealed in the last twenty pages of the book.

yeah. so ham-fisted is the best way to describe this. there was potential here, it just didn't quite live up to it.

**strip me will publish on february 11, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/gallety, threshold, pocket books (pocket star) in exchange for my honest review.

Well this read has so much potential and I wish it went in a couple of different directions. We start the story with two straight guys meeting in a strip club and end hooking up together. Now I can understand the pull of someone, and truly believe there in love and lust at first sight. Totally acceptable to believe this could happen at the beginning. There were just so many situations as the story progressed that went sideways for me- and the weird side things that just seemed randomly thrown in to jar the reader.

I liked the start of the story and found it plausible, but as the story went on, the development of their relationship was odd to me. It didn't seem to flow or the pace was off. When it started to progress and I thought we were really getting somewhere, there was some random thing revealed that threw everything off again. I know I needed much more explanation to why these facts were withheld for so long. And the ending....unfortunately it was fitting for the flow of the book. I wanted to be treated to a finale, but we were sadly mislead.

The story was just ok for me. I liked the guys, but their story didn't really hold my interest.

Strip Me is a passionate tale that takes us into the lives of Sam and Rico as they learn the power of attraction, how to embrace their sexuality, and embark on a budding relationship that will require a lot of understanding and trust.

The writing is racy and precise. The characters are charismatic, handsome, and intelligent. And the plot is an alluring tale full of familial drama, sexual innuendoes, flirty banter, sizzling chemistry, friendship, heartfelt moments, and love.

Overall, Strip Me is an easy, provocative, steamy read by Justice and even though I thought it ended a little quickly, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that perhaps we’ll get an opportunity to check back in with these characters once again in a later novel.

Potential for a good story but too many important conversations unfinished. Also didn't like the implication that physical violence was to be expected in a gay relationship or that bisexual people wouldn't be able to stay monogamous.
