Summer Longing Kindle Edition
Ruth Cooperman arrives in beautiful beachside Provincetown for her retirement, renting the perfect waterfront cottage while she searches for her forever home. After years of hard work and making peace with life's compromises, Ruth is looking forward to a carefree summer of solitude. But when she finds a baby girl abandoned on her doorstep, Ruth turns to her new neighbors for help and is drawn into the drama of the close-knit community.
The appearance of the mystery baby has an emotional ripple effect through the women in town, including Amelia Cabral, the matriarch who lost her own child decades earlier; Elise Douglas, owner of the tea shop who gave up her dream of becoming a mother; and teenage local Jaci Barros who feels trapped by her parents' expectations. Ruth, caring for a baby for the first time in thirty years, even reaches out to her own estranged daughter, Olivia, summoning her to Provincetown in hopes of a reconciliation.
As summer unfolds and friends and family care for the infant, alliances are made, relationships are tested, and secrets are uncovered. But the unconditional love for a child in need just might bring Ruth and the women of Provincetown exactly what they have been longing for themselves.
With heartfelt storytelling, Summer Longing is Jamie Brenner's eagerly anticipated return to Provincetown; another unforgettable tale about motherhood, friendship, and finding your way home.
"Welcome to the gold standard of summertime escapism."

- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2020Wow, I am quickly becoming a huge Jamie Brenner fan. This is my second book of hers to read and both were fabulous. Every time I went to read I felt like I was stepping into this quaint little beach town. Multiple story lines kept things interesting. There was the middle aged woman who rented a summer home at the beach and her trendy daughter has her own story going as well. All very interesting characters in this book - a group of friends anyone would love to have. Add a mystery and it just cannot be put down. I was sad when it ended and will definitely go back and find more books by this author to read. Drawing Home is another fantastic summer read.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2022My favorite summer reads always take me to the perfect little beach town somewhere in the north. I adore Jamie Brenner and this book was no exception! Friends, family, and lots of drama thrown in.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2021I read this book from the library ,my daughter was going on a vacation to Block Island with a young couple that are Oyster farmers///I thought it would be a sweet read!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2020This book was fine- entertaining enough. But, I couldn’t believe how unrealistic the “fern having the embryos implanted” storyline was. Either the author should have k ow, or she should have done some research- you can’t just decide one day that you want embryos implanted, go to the dr, and do it- That takes weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks of appointments, medications, shots- etc. I thought that was a big miss in terms of a situation that could even plausibly take place, and it sort of ruined the story for me.
