Sundari Venkatraman is an Indie Author who has 68 books to her credit. These books have consistently featured in the Top 100 Bestseller Lists on Amazon India, Amazon USA, Amazon UK, Amazon Canada and Amazon Australia in both romance as well as Asian Drama categories. Her latest hot romances have all been on #1 Bestseller slot in Amazon India for over a month.

These days, the author is independently publishing her novels in paperback format under her banner Flaming Sun, printed and distributed by Notion Press.

Even as a child, Sundari absolutely loved the ‘lived happily ever after’ syndrome and she grew up on a steady diet of fairy tales, Phantom comics and Mandrake comics. It was always about good triumphing over evil and a happy ending after the protagonists surmounted all unexpected obstacles.

Once she entered her teens, Sundari switched her loyalties from fairy tales to Mills & Boon. While she loved reading both of these, she kept visualising what would have happened if there were similar situations happening in India; to local heroes and heroines. And of course, the joy of vanquishing the ubiquitous evil villains! Her imagination soared and she happily ensconced herself in a rosy romantic cocoon for many years.

Then came the writing—a true bolt from the blue! And Sundari Venkatraman has never looked back.

    Every day you wake up to news that makes you sad – to add to that there are little ups and downs in your own life and there’s hardly anything that cheers you up or motivates you to get up and get going. So when Sundari Venkatraman sent me her book ‘Tales of Sunshine’ I was so fascinated by the title and the cover, that it didn't take me long to dive nose first into the book immediately.

    Sundari calls them ‘Human interest stories’ and yea, they are most definitely that! The 'Tales of Sunshine' is a collection of heart touching and heart warming stories. There are stories of common people like you and me. There are stories of everyday experiences that shake us – difficult decisions, trying times, hopeless situations – things that make you pull your hair out in despair. There are stories that show you a ray of sunshine and a glimmer of hope as the protagonists come to terms with the helplessness at hand and turn around what seems to be impossible.

    When you read the book, it is possible that you might find a connection with a story here, a character there or the situation someone is in. That’s what makes the stories so endearing and beautiful – they connect with you and lift your spirits. The book is an anthology of ten stories - but they aren’t preachy, and they don’t tell you what to do. But they do tell you that there’s always a way out, they give you a ray of ‘Sunshine’.

    I loved each one of them and my favorites were 'A ray of Sunshine' which shows that everything is not lost and that you have it in you to make the best of a hopeless situation, and ‘Is Grandpa Home’, which brought a lump to the throat. Sundari's stories urge you get in touch with your humane side, something that we seem to have lost somewhere along the way. They also urge you to look at problems not as an end of the world but as a means to find solutions. Sundari's writing is powerful and flawless and she scores on all grounds with her evocative writing.

    So go ahead and pick up your copy of the ‘Tales of Sunshine’. Isn’t a little bit of sunshine all you need on a rainy day?

    #TOS is a simple, sweet reminder that life has a silver lining. One might see the dark night but a handful of stars will twinkle back at you. Ten stories each different and fresh, make an ideal short read. All stand alone and packing a punch. These stories with our everyday life as a backdrop will find approval with everyone. They bring out our humane side and the crazy side too. Passion, ambition, emotions, family, friendship, love and life are intertwined in these tales.

    As is the norm with Sundari’s books, Tales of Sunshine has a simple, crisp language that gets to the heart of the issue. No unnecessary fluff to distract the reader. It is a fast read as well since the stories are not linked. Each new story makes a fresh start.

    I have edited this collection by Sundari Venkatraman so this book, Tales Of Sunshine is special for me but still there were a couple of stories that stand out. I found A Promise Given very relevant and reflective of our times today.

    Exam Fever is a lesson for all of us mothers and I am sure I have been like Renu at some point in my life too. (What was I thinking?L)

    Until Death Us Do Part is a fact of life for many and the sad reality is these women do not know how to get out. A must read.

    The Elephant In The Room is my favourite story and a perfect ending to this collection about us as individuals, as friends and as what we see and think of ourselves.

    I recommend this light and fresh read, true to its name it will brighten your day. Grab a little Sunshine!

    TALES OF SUNSHINE is a collection of ten short stories of hope, faith and accepting the realities of life. The stories span all age group and focus on various problems and human fraility.

    All the stories are well written, but my personal favourites are “A Promise Given”, “Rakesh Nath’s Recovery” and “The Elephant in the Room”.

    Tales of Sunshine is essentially a collection of short human interest stories. The stories, by themselves, were fine. The thing is that I had read many of these stories on the author's blog, which is why, there was very little novelty for me.

    But overall, if you have read anything by the author, and like her style of narration, you will like this too.

    Tales of Sunshine is Sundari Venkatraman’s new release. Sundari is a well-known author, famous for her romantic novels. But recently she has also been trying her hands on different genre. Tales of Sunshine is one of her experiment.

    Tales of Sunshine definitely has the flavor of Love, but of different shades. Not only does each story has love as a backdrop but also gives us an advice, each story, its title has a moral which touches the reader’s heart.

    Tales of Sunshine explores love between two sisters, a mother and her kid, grandparents and grandchildren; so on and so forth. While reading you can feel an instant connection as most of stories depict our day-to-day incidents, which happen in every household.

    For example in Exam Fever, Maya the mother is worried about her daughter Renu’s exam or in Breaking Free from the Mould, grandmother Gayatri is worried that her grandson Aarush is spoiling his future and will fall behind the rat race by choosing over languages instead of opting for some competitive exams.

    All the stories have a few lines by someone famous preceding them. I am sure each one of us can relate to one story or another. The language is simple and the flow is good. I really loved how the author has developed the characters in the short story. The book can be read in one sitting but my advice would be to enjoy and savour each story one at a time.
