It took me a while to read this book, but I’m glad. I was able to savor it since the next one doesn’t come out until 2023! You must read these books in order, The Brit, The Enigma and The Resurrection. ‼️ SPOILERS ‼️ The Brit and The Enigma return in The Resurrection to take down The Bear who is angry and taking his turf back in Miami. Danny and Rose, James and Beau are at the mansion in Miami while the guys are tracking him down. Beau is fighting her cop instincts and habits, while Rose is fighting Danny. She does not want to be back in Miami. This book starts out HOT, continues with danger, mystery and HEAT. The finale is action packed and had me on the edge of my seat! I loved it! However, all is calm and finished…..until it isn’t! There’s more coming from this group in 2023!!!!!

    Phew. What a WILD ride! Malpas clearly left plenty of breadcrumbs in the first two books, because this masterfully sews two different love stories together and advances the suspenseful element in a big way. Full disclosure: I struggled with this story for at least 100 pages at the beginning. It felt like all of the progress these couples made in their respective books was just GONE, and everything felt pretty bleak and desolate. Which... yeah, was an intentional choice for the story. But it certainly wasn't what I wanted. I'm really not a trilogy kinda girl, and - since there was no mention of this being an ongoing series when I started reading - I'm going into this one kicking and screaming. Because that's really what this is; it's ESSENTIAL that you read The Brit and The Enigma prior to starting The Resurrection... and the series ain't over yet.

    I'm going to try to avoid offering spoilers, but I suggest skipping this review and jumping right into the book if you want to go in completely blind. This story picks up right where The Enigma left off, with both of our couples dealing with the fallout of recent events. James and Beau thought they had found happiness, only to have it torn away. And Danny is forced to upend his life in paradise to get back in the game. No one is happy about the situation, and it threatens to tear both couples apart - especially because Danny is breaking Rose's trust by coming back from the dead. Forced to team up, these two brutal killers discover that they've met their match in each other... and that could either be their biggest advantage or the thing that finally takes one of these powerful men down.

    If you made it through The Brit and The Enigma, then neither the violence nor the steam will surprise you. There is plenty of both, with a SIGNIFICANT focus on the suspense. With two established couples at the start of the book, this wastes no time heating up in a variety of ways. It's INTENSE and violent, with complex characters and developed relationships that are full of intimacy. I loved how this tied everything together and then had its own vibe, which kept me on the edge of my seat in the back half. What I struggled with the most was how these characters buckled under the pressure, showing the worst sides of themselves in ways that I thought we'd moved past. It's not always enjoyable reading, but it IS excellent writing from Malpas, and I started fully connecting once things took a turn. It was the back half that shined for me - once these couples work out their differences, I loved how they became stronger together. And the suspenseful element? Had my full attention by the end. Yes, this ends on another CLIFFHANGER, and I would love it if another couple were at the center of the next book (maybe Brad and a mystery woman?), but there's definitely more story to tell. All in all, this ended up being another fantastic addition to a stellar series, and it certainly won me over along the way.

    Well , what’s the point in trying to describe perfection. Because this is what this third book is. We have all for main characters coming together in a spine chilling humourus sort of way. Danny and Rose are as dynamically explosive together. Danny trying to pacify Rose, and Rose putting up with non of it. Both so madly in love with each other still, but Rose furious than the Assassin has been reborn. Beau and James don’t whether much better. Beau remains fragile but has a spine of steel. She tries dreadful to adjust to civi life, with the purpose still of revenge for her mother’s murder. James is hell bent on discovering the Bear like Danny, but needs Beau to release all the pent up emotions that being undead brings. Love all the side characters that grow with each book.. Zinnea/Lawrence has her own battles to fight. Esther , Danny’s Mom has interest in Otto, Goldie manages to seek her revenge and Tank, Fury new characters become dangerously endearing. All the characters are so believable regardless of age. Daniel , Rose’s son a typical teenager, and Beau’s Dad a deluded, egotistical individual. There is certainly immense drama in this series, intrigue, dark scenes of mutilation, and murder, but also laughter and banter amongst the characters. Mistrust , denial and lies abound and dark secrets are secrets no more. Romance is always around but so are deep emotional scenes between two in lovers. The book finishes on a high note?? But this is only a holiday not the end. Happier times are with the characters but for how long? Next January may have the answers. Jodi has captured the readers imagination again, with a well written, totally absorbing book , that leaves the reader wanting more as ever. The male hero’s are so alpha as ever, and female characters are so tough too. All of this authors. Book are phenomenal, and this one is exceptionally so.

    By far my favourite series of 2021 and now 2022 and onwards seriously jodi is beyond talented in her story telling! She deserves an award .Danny black is my favourite character.
    I lvoe how Danny and James are cold blood killers exspecially if anything happens to rose and beau I loved the partnership almost brotherhood in Danny and James.and the sisterhood in rose ans beau. and I may be wrong but something been telling me from the day 1 that brad can't be trusted .time will tell .thanks jodie for hooking me in and wanting more and more.

    This review is for The Enigma and The Resurrection as I've just read them both. Before getting down to the nitty gritty, I know some books that are part of a series can be read as a standalone but not these. Please read the first, The Brit, which was outstanding and started all the madness off.
    Meeting James and Beau in The Enigma was the start of one heart wrenching, heart breaking, violent, angst ridden love story. The main men in these stories are brutal, extremely brutal but because of Jodies clever writing we can look past the violent, gut churning murders that take place. I can't believe I'm saying that, be warned, some of the murders are horrific but also weirdly funny. 😲 I suppose if your job is killing it becomes to mean nothing. The twist and turns in the books are so clever, I'm so tense at all times waiting for the next drama.
    Jodi writes great women characters as well as the men and they are so well thought out with amazing back stories. Always a reason for their behaviour and emotions.
    In Ressurection the getting together of our "Heroes" makes the third book a Humdinger of a ride and results in the women Rose and Beau forming a great bond, with their lives taking various, sad, mad and bad turns. Before reaching some level of happiness, well as much as you can when you're in love with an assassin and a mafia boss.. However, the happiness looks mighty temporary and we've got to wait a year for book 4. Only downside of reading these amazing books, the wait is too long but I'll be here, ready and waiting for Danny, Rose, Jimmy and Beau and their wonderful entourage of friends and family in the Motley crew.
