- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2018Very good book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2018I love this book. The story of two girls who each take a different path in her life. They begin selling watercress as children to provide food and shelter for thier family. You begin to see the difference in their personalities. One is drawn to a dubious life on stage. The other is dependable and stays home to help support her mother. The action begins when the one on stage returns to the home with a baby. After her return leads both ladies are deeply involved in a mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great storyline
The two main negatives of this book is a lot of typing errors needs some good editing, in chapter six a couple of paragraphs appear to not make sense but can't say much as don't want to spoil the read for other readers, however those aside they did not detract from the story. I loved the storyline certainly a story with an original theme. It was a book I could not put down. Mystery, love, hardship and good descriptions of how hard life would have been in those days. I did find it hard to warm to Annie, Hettie is a real sweetheart. An excellent story and I would certainly recommend this one if you like authors like Dilly Court or Rosie Goodwin

5.0 out of 5 stars A real-page turner!
Congratulations Kay on a really excellent second novel! It is a real page-turner from the first pages to the last. Not only is it filled with suspense - a real page-turner - the novel successfully captures the spirit of the Victorian age; and it is easy to warm to the believable characters. I really enjoyed 'The Watercress Girls' and look forward to reading more novels by Kay Seeley.
