About the author

The Wakefield Series has now been re-published in paperback and ebook formats. The crime fiction series set primarily in Yorkshire, consists of TROPHIES, TORMENT, which was shortlisted in the prestigious Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger in 2013, TALISMAN and TAINTED.
Previously, The Wakefield Series became an International Best Seller in June 2017.
The Tendring Series continues with the second, DISTRESSED, available now in ebook format along with the paperback version. The first in the series, DISPOSAL, is also available in ebook and paperback. The crime series is set in north Essex in the late 1970s.
After a successful career in the construction industry, I began to write seriously and have thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2016The third book in 'The Wakefield Series' is simply the best. Where all three books of the series can be read as stand-alones, for me it’s a great build up from Trophies (Book #1) and Torment (Book #2) to this third book. It is excellently written, contains a strong and fascinating plot with all the characters in it we’ve grown to love. The best friends Bob Souter the journalist and Colin Strong, the DCI, have got their jobs cut out for them, as an apparent suicide is followed by a murder and influential people are involved. The year is 2001 …
It’s August 16st 2001 and a hooded man is in a position which none would envy. He can smell the burn, but there’s no escape, no way out. Who he is we are not in a position to know yet. Six weeks earlier DI Colin Strong has been told that he will not be promoted to the rank of DCI as he expected and hoped. It is a disappointment the more because of the fact that a “fast track high-flyer” is appointed instead.
When a body is found in the bathtub of a house, with no signs indicating violence, it seems an obvious suicide. Somewhere else in Wakefield, Belinda is feeling unhappy. Her life with husband Charlie Chamberlain – or Charles as he now insists upon being called – is falling apart when Belinda finds legal documents concerning a property, owned by her husband. Upon investigating further little does Belinda know that she’s unchaining a series of events, leading to a secret society, influential people being involved, culminating in violence, life. Meanwhile journalist Bob Souter gets an anonymous call about a shady developing company: Thistle Developments. Souter has no idea that this call will endanger both him as well as his friends Susan and Sammy e threats and murder.
Follow Bob Souter and his girlfriend Alison, their friends Susan and Sammy and the Wakefield CID team with Colin Strong, Kelly Stainmore and the others into yet another captivating read. David Evans has written a fascinating crime novel and you can see how he felt inspired by his characters – his creations – appearing in the book. Will they all survive? Will there be another detective in ‘The Wakefield Series’ originally set out as a trilogy? There are so many possibilities, characters I'm not ready to give up yet that I would love to see the series expand more!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2016This is the third in the series of the Wakefield Series, and would work as a stand alone, although you would benefit from reading the previous two books.
A great opening plotline, that leads into so many questions, conundrums and dilemmas for both D.I. Colin Strong, and Bob Souter - head newspaper reporter, their friends and family.
There are various storyline threads running through the novel, tying together superbly at the end, but intriguing all the way through the book.
Which turned out to be an extremely gripping and tense read. Nearer the end of the book I did not want to read on about one particular storyline, and there were some real heart in the mouth tense moments. With emotions running high.
I am unsure if this is set up as a trilogy, or a series. There is plenty more mileage from the point of view of Strong and Souter, where friendship was definitely tested. And I could easily read more.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2016This was the third and last book in the trilogy and even though I had read the first one (and not the second, for some reason), this book would be just fine as a standalone.
Bob Souter and DI Colin Strong are back, this time in a curious case of a transsexual found in a bath for over a year....and how could she possibly be connected to a well known lawyer? Both men try and figure out what is going on, in their own ways. I enjoyed getting to know both of them a little better too and it was nice to read about their personal lives a bit more as well.
There are a lot of different threads that connect these two people and it is certainly interesting who knows whom! I had a lot of sympathy for the lawyers wife and I was at the edge of my seat when she was doing a bit of sleuthing of her own.
This is a good novel, keeps you guessing constantly and you will want to keep on reading until you get to the very end. Lots of twists and turns in this one :)
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Thank you to the author and Bloodhound books.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2016A quadripartite of crimes for the police to solve. A possible “dealing” inside the council, a victim in suspicious circumstances, a domestic issue with a well- known solicitor and old people being robbed by distraction techniques. This is a very clever, well written book. You think the crimes might just have to come together but can’t see how and to start with they are very individual and distinct. Cards for “The Talisman club” are found so where does this fit in? Well written characters, an excellent plot and a little humour along the way make this a very enjoyable book. This is the third book of the Wakefield series but happily stands alone, then again why miss out on the first two? A journalist (Souter) and a DI (Strong) work both alone and together to bring the perpetrators to justice in their own very individualistic ways. Highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars dirty dealings and life changing decisions
It is a definite page turner, the good and bad characters are clearly defined which makes it easy to cheer for the right side.
A plus that the end isn’t rushed but laid out perfectly

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantatic conclusion to a great triolgy.
A fantastic finally to three great books. Brilliant how the crimes start a million miles apart and slowly and meaning fu!ly blend together. Great characters and a wider scope of imagination to outside Wakefield.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read
I have enjoyed all 3 books in the Wakefield series and recommend them.
The stories are not over complicated and are plausible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read!
Another stupendous read, exactly like the two previous books in this trilogy. Obviously well researched well written and storylines that grab you from the off. Had me reading until 2am, I found it impossible to put down until I'd finish it, then totally disappointed there wasn't a book 4.
All the main characters are totally believable and your endearingly drawn to their different personalities.
There are some heart stopping moments throughout the book, which to my mind was extremely plausible and true to life, to make it a little scary in some respects.
I want more of this series please Mr Evans, more Colin and his team, more Bob and Co
