- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis whole series is a wonderful read for the YA audience. Exploring this fantasy world, which has such parallel aspects to our own, is really exciting. Such a wonderful message of acceptance, patience, loyalty and love. Can't wait for the next book. The first three were fantastic.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI'm really enjoying this cute dragon series. I'm so in love with Raiden and Egan. I can't wait for the next book to see how their story ends. Hopefully other stories will begin with the new dragons.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIn this book, Egan and Raiden both have their eyes truly opened to how some people suffer in their world. We see how the Fifth Realm is making their weapons and it has a horrible cost. But these two bonded young men can do anything as long as they fight together!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2021Format: KindleThis third book in the Dragon King series is absolutely amazing. It is a little deeper, a little darker, and a little sadder, in parts, but it really lets the true characters of the MCs shine. Raiden is crushed when Egan disappears near the border with the enemy Fifth Realm, certain something terrible has happened to him. He is determined to go after him, find him, and bring him home. King Rodick gives him the trust, space, and resources to do so. On the journey, Raiden really exhibits his leadership, and shows how ready he is for his future as a king, and he also shows the generous and kind heart he has by helping others along the way, even when is slows the progress toward his own goal. For his part, Egan is suffering his own torment, but thoughts of Raiden keep him strong. He also makes a surprise discovery, while he stands against his greatest enemy. THAT ending was pure karma and bliss! In the end, our lovers come home and have a chance to rest, but the battle is not over, and the Fifth Realm will still need to be dealt with. I love these characters, both the MCs and all their friends and family. I like the overall positive vibe of the Sixth Realm and how everyone gets to be who they are with no judgment. I can't wait for the next book to see what they do about Queen Keres.
Note: There are some intimate, steamy scenes, but nothing explicit. That is all off page and left to your imagination.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2021Format: KindleThe first-time author for me, Debbie McQueen, I was absolutely blown away at the lovely and easy writing. This has been true through all of the 3 books of the series. I don't know if it was just me but this story felt genuine, sweet, and just overall a great read. This just became one of my top 3 favorite fantasy series.
I'm not going to delve too deeply. I have difficulties doing so without spoiling it... SO... the bare bones are:
- This picks up right where book two - Bound in Fire - left us.
- This had tension and that sense of urgency that has been building since book 1 and it was felt throughout the whole book.
- Egan made me heartbreak with so many feels.
- Raiden was as amazing as he has been but he became fiercer and stronger than before.
Our MCs, Egan, and Raiden, have shown their growth, their love, their acceptance of each other, and how far they'll go for each other and their people. They are so good together and despite thinking that was it, I am expecting book 4 with anticipation.
These are the highlights for me; good and bad and meh.
- BAD: It ended too soon.
- GOOD: The plot, the love, and the writing.
- MEH: I have to wait for the fourth one now.
POV: Dual First Person
Standalone or Series: Book #2 in Dragon King Series

Debbie has once again blown me away with Raiden and Egan's love story. Because while it may by ya fantasy, it's one of the sweetest, most honest love stories I've ever read.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Picking right up where Bound in Fire dropped that cliffy, the story immediately picks up with Raiden on a mission to save his love and Egan desperately seeking his inner strength. While I hated the circumstances, I was so impressed by how each young man grew in this book. Raiden became a king in the making when he finally gets the chance to expand outside of his father's umbrella. Egan goes through some trials as the pure evil that exists in their world comes to light. But his devotion to Raiden strengthens his mind and helps him guide the others with him.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This story wasn't easy. Egan endures SO much. I hate, but love how Raiden experiences things as well because of their connection. My heart both broke and rejoiced when they finally found each other. Their emotions were intense.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Y'all. I LOVE THIS BOOK. It's my favorite in the series so far. The writing is phenomenal, the pacing is steady, and the plot is engaging. If you're in the mood for a MM, sweet, easy adventure then this is the series for you!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2021Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseDespite the hardships that occur in this book, it’s a cute and sweet story. I hope all couples can be as supportive as Raiden and Egan. However, the author repeats a lot of the same inner thoughts. This can feel boring, or preachy. I struggled to get through this book whereas I sped through the second. There is action in the middle, and thats about it. I do appreciate the examples this book and series put forward. But the repetitiveness was just too much for me (and my mom who struggled to read this with me as well). There were some really cute phrases (like about the pie!), but sometimes the word choice and sentence structure can also be repetitive. Still planning on reading book 4!

5.0 out of 5 stars A quest into the fifth realm.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMM Young Adult romance, book three follows on with their story and the threat from the fifth realm. Eagon and Raiden's bond has grown stronger and there will be cause to depend on their bond in the coming days. The third book is as engaging as the previous two in the series and is easy to read and a definite page-turner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad and good
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe second book in the series left us with a cliffhanger which is now resolved. Egan has been captured by the evil Raith and finds other dragons imprisoned with him. Exciting with twists and turns quite gory in this book as Raiden tries to find and rescue Egan.
