About the author

If you're looking for romance, you've come to the right place! I started reading romance novels in my early teens and writing them soon afterwards; growing up in small towns in western Canada, there wasn't much else to do! Luckily those early stories have never seen the light of day. :) Now I live in the UK with my husband and daughter and spend my free time diving into magical or just romantic settings where true love (almost) always wins. - Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2022This story kept me on pins and needles but in the best way possible. I could not put it down snd wanted more when it was over. Despite the manipulations by their alpha both Evan and Katlyn found their way to each other, despite the obstacles thrown their way. Highly recommend this story. (xox Kay D)
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2021Katlyn is almost 18. Instead of living an extraordinary life, she is an omega. Instead of fun for her birthday, she gets stuck serving a private dinner party for the Alpha. She discovers that Evan, the Alpha's son, is her mate. Unfortunately for her, he rejects her at his father's request. The Alpha comes off as manipulative and a jerk. His son is a bit of a child as he lets his father just temple his will. Eventually, he does start fighting back. There is a light at the end of the tunnel that is the messed up situation in this book. It takes a lot to get there.
I will tell you, at first, I almost put this book down as I couldn't take the amount of manipulation and selfishness presented. On top of that, reading thru how much our female character was being hurt and lied to was very difficult for me. As the story progresses, I just had it know if she was taken by the Alpha or fought for by the Alpha's son. It was a good tale at the end, and a lot of the story made more sense. But I was offended and hated the Alpha at first. I love how the author made her omega strong and forgiving even in the face of a jerk. The entire time thru the story, I was hoping the Alphas son Evan would pull his head out of the cloud and do something, and finally, he did. I was so excited when the story changed from accepting that he would take a chosen mate to fight for his mate. I won't give the ending away, but this story did eventually become a decent read.
This story is Ya read, so it can be read by younger audiences. There really wasn't anything offensive in it besides the manipulative character. There were some adult topics touched in the book, but you would have to decide for yourself if it could be read by your young adult.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2021This story kept my interest throughout. It progressed quickly sticking to the main plotline rather then spending additional time on a backstory until the very end, a very satisfying ending! The villain was extremely creepy. And I cringed in some of the scenes. I mean you really feel the inherent wrongness of that situation. I did not embrace the main character due to her choices and it didn't feel realistic to me. Perhaps if the main character had a strong reason for choosing that path, some other tragedy that drove her into his arms. What is most perplexing is her alacrity. I was expecting a bit more inner monologue suggesting that this character was more torn up about her choices. I'm not saying it hasn't happened before but I can't picture it. But then again I am really deterred by the villain. Are we to assume that he still looks young because werewolves age slower? It might be an easier pill to swallow if that were the case. A more sensitive reader should be cautioned, definite heebie jeebies!
I found equal frustration with Evan's character. I was rooting for him, but I think he could have tried harder. I like how her friends rallied around her. I liked Moira's character. And the revelation of the villain's past was appreciated. I really enjoyed that backstory. It pulled everything together nicely.
To conclude, this was an enjoyable read. I read so many wolf-shifter stories, it's my favorite paranormal race, after the Fae. I really like the mate bonds, mind-speak, etc. And that was all included, so it really stayed true to genre. But it is a more sensitive read, and I would recommend this for older teens 16+. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, didn't put it down.
I loved the insight to the characters, their motivation and out look. Getting so angry and annoyed by the actions of characters, feeling sorry for others. Another great book from Melody can't wait to read more.
