FBI agent Max Carter lives his life by a strict set of rules—rules that don't allow for distraction, deviation...or a relationship. But tell that to his matchmaking mama. To avoid yet another set-up, he announces he has a girlfriend. And now has to produce said girlfriend at Christmas dinner. Maybe Santa has a suitable actress in that red bag of his...
Gina Castillo is about to break her building’s iron-clad “no pets” policy to give her little brother the perfect Christmas gift—a dog. About the author

Multi-award-winning author, Kadie Scott, writes steamy romantic comedies and western romance. She loves plots that move hot and fast, feisty heroines with sass, heroes with heart, a dash of snark, and oodles of HEAs! Other titles include wife, mother, Star Wars geek, ex-competitive skydiver, spreadsheet lover, eMBA, organizational guru, Texan, Aggie, and chocoholic.
Kadie attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing) and an MBA. However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it.
Kadie currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her own swoon-worthy hero, their angelic (mostly) kids, who are growing up way too fast, and 2 adorable fur babies.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2022I loved this opposites attract, fake relationship swoon worthy story. Gina and Max were wonderful together. They were portrayed so well as real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really trying to just do their best as messy humans. Max is a financial analyst with the FBI who has some OCD tendencies. He realizes he desperately needs a temporary fake girlfriend after he tells his family at Thanksgiving that he has a girlfriend in order to stop their matchmaking. Gina is subletting the apartment next to Max and bought a dog as a Christmas present for her brother. She is much less regimented than Max. When Max catches Gina sneaking a dog out of the apartment, which is against the rules of the building, he agrees to help keep her secret if she agrees to be his fake girlfriend through Christmas. Their very real and sizzling chemistry makes the lines between fake and real get blurry and things get complicated fast. The book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, steamy scenes, strong friendships, difficult family dynamics, laughs, painful pasts, and all the heart squeezing love. Experiencing the journey of Max and Gina as they fall in love and work through their individual issues gave me all the feels - you will laugh, cry, swoon, cringe, cheer, and happy sigh. This story includes three dimensional characters who grow, witty dialogue, and an engaging storyline with light angst. I hope there is more in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2017I don't know why, but I was expecting more geekiness, like with Drew and Cassie in The Wrong Kind of Compatible. That is where we met Max. Max and Drew work together - for the FBI even - and are close friends. But no, Max has different issues. He is totally ridged in his life - his routine. He has a schedule and he will not deviate from it. He craves order. Doesn't sound like what would be found in the FBI, but guess it works for his white collar crime department.
It makes for some interesting drama when it comes to the new next door neighbor who is messy and *gasp* has a dog! How can two such different people possibly end up with a happy-ever-after? Kadie Scott does an interesting job of getting us there. There is fun and drama, all set a nice pace.
Just what I needed to brighten the gloomy, rainy days that are currently plaguing the area
- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2018I really enjoyed this book! The main characters, Gina and Max, are both very likeable characters. There's also a super cute little dog named T-Bone involved (and who doesn't love a rascal of a dog?!). Additionally, I loved the theme of this story, which is that if you love someone, you don't "fix" them, you work together with them. If there are problems, you address them together and come up with workable compromises. I really think that is so true, and that made the whole story for me. I hate books where one character ends up changing his/her life in order to conform to what makes the other character happy. There are some pretty humorous situations in this story as well, which keeps things fun. I really highly recommend this book, as well as the author's other book, The Wrong Kind of Compatible, which is just as fabulous.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2019Wow, this book made me smile, laugh, tear up, and go Awww in one sitting. It was a sweet and sexy romance about two opposites finding love after concocting a fake romance. Max is a FBI agent who is OCD. His family is constantly on his case to find someone but he likes his neat and orderly life as it is. Gina moves in next door to him. She’s a sweet and exuberant set designer who takes off jobs here and there trying to find her shot in Broadway. She has a huge heart and she wants to get her brother a puppy for Christmas only to find one a few weeks prior. The apartment building has a strict no pets policy and Max catches Gina smuggling the puppy in her apartment. He blackmails her into a fake romance to try and get his family to back off of him. It was fun watching these two opposites slowly get drawn to each other. Gina is a people magnet and everyone loves her. Max is surly and stiff but he has a heart that slowly thaws the more time he spends with Gina. This was a fun read.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2018Fabulous story! A control freak meets up with a free spirit, and love reigns. The characters were likeable, he I her actions believable, and the story was well paced. Even the meet cute, in which Gina tried to sneak her dog out in a no pets building, was credible. A quick, lovely read
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2017The Attraction Equation is a sweet story of an FBI agent feeling pressured by his family to lie about having a girlfriend. Max is OCD and doesn't like to deviate from his schedule. Meeting Gina, who is house sitting his neighbors apartment, throws his fake girlfriend plan into motion. She's hiding a dog in a no pets allowed building. Max uses this to his advantage, blackmailing her into helping him.
Max is sweet under his gruff, control freak exterior. Gina is feisty and pushes him in a good way. They have magnetic, opposites attract kind of chemistry.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too mushy for my taste
Too clichéd.....too mushy for my taste. I like a good romantic novel but not this mushy. The basic plot is decent.
