Baxter's Right-Hand Man: MM Romance/Secret Boyfriends (The Baxter Chronicles Book 2) Kindle Edition
Pierce
Welcome to Hollywood, baby! Perhaps you’ve heard of me. I play Baxter, the adventure-seeking, crime-fighting hero, adored by fans around the world. Nice gig, right? My job has its perks for sure—private jets, a chauffeur, and the best tables at the fanciest restaurants in town. It’s nuts!
Downside—it’s hard to know who you can trust.
But I trust Lorenzo. He’s funny, sweet, and very real.
Look, I’m not in the market for anything serious. Between my greedy brother and the old man who claims we’re related, I’m a little wary, but I could use a friend.
And a sexy distraction.
Lorenzo
What is happening here? Major movie star, Pierce Allen wants me.
Me!
I don’t get it. I’m too fabulous and he’s too famous.
No, wait. He wants something from me, like my help and maybe my body. This should be a no-brainer. However, closing the last chapter on a long-term relationship has left me feeling a little fragile, and the last thing I need is to risk another broken heart.
But I’m too intrigued to walk away. I can play the part of Pierce’s “right-hand man” and keep things light and friendly. No problem.
I’m way too smart to fall for a movie star.
I hope.
Baxter’s Right-Hand Man is a MM, bisexual romance featuring a sexy, slightly egotistical movie star and the adorable diva who brings him back to reality.

I couldn't put this down. I was so excited for more after reading The Real Baxter, and book 2 absolutely did not disappoint.Baxters Right Hand Man just tugged at my heartstrings. The love that connects not only Pierce and Lo, but the friendships, the found family, all of it was just beautiful.Loved loved loved this book! - JoeyBlue, Amazon, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I could have kept reading this book forever. It is that good! -CS, Amazon 5 Stars
This book is just a gorgeous read. It's about finding your perfect person in an unexpected place, it's about connections and regrets, it's about family - the good and the bad - and it's about love, oh it's so much about love. As soon as I picked up this book I knew I would have to read it all in one go because the narrative was so compelling from the start. Everything about this book just worked for me, I adored it and I would happily have read for hours more seeing these two fall in love! -Cadiva, Goodreads, 5 Stars
I thought this was a really sweet love story, albeit with hot AF sexy time. Lane Hayes descriptive writing always keeps me captivated. There wasn't anything I didn't love about this book. The only thing that could make me love this story more is to listen to it when it comes out as an audiobook.--ButtonsMom2023, Goodreads, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Five stars? Nah! There aren't enough stars to show how bright the story of the Biggest Star in Lane Hayes' Hollywood tale, Baxter's Right Hand Man, shines. This book could easily require the entire Milky Way. The Baxter Chronicles are guaranteed to be your BEST READ of 2023.-- RocketGirl, Goodreads, 5 Stars
Lane has never ever let me down, loved this book even more than book one of the Baxter Chronicles. The writing is crisp and witty. The characters are flawed, loveable, funny and sincere, the plot sweeps you away into the lives of Pierce and Lo, as they learn the importance of being true to one's self, discover found family, friendship, trust, acceptance, and unconditional love Their chemistry dripped from the pages from the very beginning and the twists and turns their relationship took, had me desperate to stay with them til the end. Good story, great characters, epic and true love! -Edga, Goodreads, 5 Stars
Wow... I'm in tears here, happy ones thank you very much. Awesome book, I enjoyed reading it, loved it! A Must Read!! -TracyPerry, Goodreads, 5 Stars

About the author

Lane Hayes lives in sunny Southern California with her amazing husband, who thankfully doesn’t mind cooking, and their fabulous fox red Labrador, George, who’s pure mischief. Both provide oodles of inspiration for the low-angst, humorous books Lane loves to write.
She’s been telling stories about sexy, funny, sometimes geeky and quirky men who find love for a dozen years now and loving every minute. In her previous life, she sat at a desk and dealt with numbers, so yes…romance is much more satisfying!
Lane loves tea, travel, and chocolate…in any order. Add a book and she’s set!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2023Loved the story and the characters.
Pierce is a slightly jaded, successful actor who meets his match in unimpressed Lorenzo (Lo to his friends).
This not just a story of 2 people getting together, it features a bit of found family (Mr. G, Enid), blood family that can be destructive (Pierce's brother), lost family, love, laughter, and finding the person that will always be your rock, best friend and love of your life (both MCs for each other).
It's a lovely story, funny, sweet, poignant. Definitely recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2023I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the characters in this author’s two related series. This book was a bit meandering, yet it also had a lot of heart overall. The MCs could have had more emotional depth for me, however not all couples are like that and they still make sense, which is what I had to remind myself of a few times. Overall, this story was fine. I just think I liked it because it extended this world that connected to other books rather than as a stand alone story.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2024What a sweet book.! It has what I always need, characters I wish I knew in the real world. It has a good size sprinkle of humor, but it doesn't come from slap stick, pets or children, but from the fun of two people getting to know one another.
Enjoy it.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2023This story has a sweet mirroring device where Pierce & Li’s story of trying to keep something real hidden from social media is reflected in the story of a couple who got together in the 1960s and had to stay hidden because of regular ol’homophobia.
Pierce & Lo have a genuine connection, and good personal hurdles to overcome, and good moments of fun.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2023I absolutely adored this book! Pierce and Lo are amazing characters. Of course I loved when they were in scenes together, but I was also totally engaged with the story when it was just one of them doing their own thing (I’ll admit, that’s not true of every romance I read). Pierce has golden retriever energy, even if he’s a little prickly sometimes because he’s been burned enough in the past. Lo is a little dynamo - that short guy who has the stature and air of a giant. He commands attention and respect and demands the same for those he loves.
The Basics:
💙MM romance
💙low angst
💙dual 1st person POV
💙celebrity actor
💙non-famous diva
💙completely standalone (with character cameos)
With the celebrity/non-famous pairing, some of the conflict surrounded dealing with that dynamic, primarily coming from external forces. It brought good tension to the story, but there wasn’t excessive or prolonged handwringing about any of it. I felt confident they’d get their HEA. There was also a great balance to all of the celebrity stuff with the small, domestic, and intimate moments between Pierce and Lo. I don’t want to downplay their sexy time, because their attraction is undeniable and the scenes are hot, but Pierce and Lo are also soft and gentle with each other. The vulnerability they share is really sweet.
There’s a lot of recognition for gay history in this book (and the first!) in a way that is honest and honors the struggles, all while showing how people still found a way to love. The history of Hollywood from the 50s through present day is shown through a gay lens, Mr. Gowan, the connecting link between Pierce and Lo. He’s a wonderful, dynamic character. He’s ill, so there’s on-page struggle with illness, an ambulance ride, and hospital visits. But the magic of Lane Hayes is that we get the sad and scary things without it wrenching out our hearts. The overall energy is vibrant and happy.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2023What a wonderful follow-up book to “The Real Baxter” by Lane Hayes. It’s something when Baxter, a James Bondesque character is being played by someone who likes to swing between females and males offscreen. I loved how Lane touches on the downside of a celebrity life and how it can impact a bystander who has no inkling of the craziness a celebrity leads. Like I said, this book is the follow-up, that doesn’t mean you have to read the first one. However, it would be nice since the studio mogul that drives Pierce, the guy who plays Baxter crazy is one of the MC in the first book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one very much! The minor character for some reason reminds me of Leslie Jordan. I’d give this book a 5 stars reading!
The story focuses on Pierce, the dashing stud who plays Baxter on the big screen who had to kind of repair his reputation after being caught making out with a waiter after an event where he was being proclaimed as being in love with a starlet. In order to do this, the studio found an opportunity where Pierce would do a photo opportunity by meeting with this elder guy who stated he was the cousin of Pierce’s mother. That was where Pierce got to meet Lorenzo, an innocent bystander who was an acquaintance of the elder guy.
Lorenzo, a worker of this upscale decorating store was asked by his friend to join him when he meets Pierce. Lorenzo wasn’t impressed by Pierce and thought him arrogant, egoistical and more. However, Pierce found Lorenzo intriguing and wanted to pursue him. That’s where I’m going to stop and have you pick up the book and read to find out what happens and whether the elder guy was actually related to Pierce or not as well as whether Lorenzo’s heart was thawed by Pierce. Happy reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! 💜
I loved everything about this book and Pierce and Lorenzo have now joined my list of favourite couples. Were they flawed, yes, but they were real, well Pierce was after his Hollywood blinkers came off. They learnt how to communicate and compromise and I was swept along on their journey.
Pierce is at the top of his game as Hollywood’s hottest action hero Baxter and Lorenzo is a manager at a high end store. The story covers just how hard it is to start a relationship in a world of social media and the “sell your own grandmother for a story” paparazzi, especially when you are not used to living in a goldfish bowl.
The chemistry between them was perfect and not just the sex, although that was hot, they were in tune, shared a sense of humour and Pierce was so funny. Lo made him a better man or maybe he just encouraged him to be the man he really was.
Lorenzo was an out and proud gay, sassy man, with a big personality and heart. He hated Pierce on sight and everything he stood for and told him so, but this story is about finding your special person when you least expect it, how they make you reflect on your life and the life you want. It was about family and how they can love you or let you down and how this shapes you in the future. The character of Jasper Gowan was beautiful and he will steal your heart. When he opened up about his life and living as a gay man with the love of his life David for fifty years I needed the tissues.
The writing was sharp and witty and so I just had to read it in one go, and I’m with Pierce on Scrabble, I hate it as well but somehow Jasper and Lo made it fun as they wound Pierce up.
Highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hollywood, Scrabble, and Real Romance
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Pierce having got just a glimpse of him in The Real Baxter, but I liked him immediately, and I loved Lorenzo. These two just clicked for me right off the bat (even if it was sparks at first, lol), and it was fun to see their relationship develop, both of them getting what they needed even if they didn’t admit it for the longest time and even if Hollywood made it more complicated.
Mr G, Scrabble games, Lo’s friends, the kids at the hospital, tons of texts…. It was at times humorous, at times serious, and always entertaining to read. There were a few entitled people who annoyed me, but it was wonderful to see Pierce and Lo figure out how to make things work against outside pressures. I might have got a little teary at the end, lol. So happy for these two.
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Emotional Romance.
Lane Hayes has never ever let me down, loved this book even more than book one of the Baxter Chronicles. We meet Pierce in the first Baxter's book, I kinda liked him then, in this book, I grew to love him. Lorenzo is wonderful, (we previously met him as a secondary character in The Wrong Man), what an absolute delight he is, out, fabulous, and makes no apologies for who he is. Both are great characters with troubled pasts, they find that life is often full of pressures, challenges, misunderstandings, and surprises. They come to realise that sometimes all we need to do to find happiness is communicate, compromise and find balance. The dynamic of all the main characters had me smiling at their dialogue, and long suffering Seb was something to behold . The main characters in this book are written so well that you feel you know them. And wish you did! I loved how supportive they were of one another. I was really drawn to Mr G, his back story was so heartbreaking, and I loved how he brought Pierce and Lo together. Lovely to see how Brandon and Jake were getting on, cried a tear for Mack though. Good story, great characters, epic and true love!
I received an ARC of this story, which in no way influenced my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acting On Their Feelings.
MM, Bisexual, Contemporary, Romance. Easy to read page-turner that can be read as a standalone, great characters and an emotional, steamy romance. Lots of cameo appearances from characters from other series. An enjoyable read with a guaranteed HEA.
