The Captain's Rebel (Irish Heroines Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 124 ratings

Land. Power. Influence. Mary O'Malley knows these are the only things that matter in her war-torn country. Determined to win back her ancestral home, she must embark on a journey across the Atlantic disguised as a cabin boy. But her ruse brings her under the control of a dangerous sea captain who demands from her the one thing she will never give—complete and total submission.

Captain Richard Grant runs a tight ship, and he didn't claw his way up through the ranks of the Royal Navy to be undone by a headstrong Irish girl hell-bent on jeopardizing his mission and his crew. If she insists on dressing like a man, then she can take his punishments. He demands obedience, but his insatiable need for her leads to a complex game of sex, desire, and dominance not even he can control.

Awakened by the passion Grant stirs in her, Mary finds herself falling for the stern captain. But when her false identity leads to rumors of her spying for the French, she must choose between her love for Ireland and the man who commands her body—and her heart.

Two young people fall in love one goes off to war, the other has to face the plans her father has made for her to marry a man she doesn’t love who is mean. With these turn of events she runs right into the arms of Captain Richard Grant. But I am getting ahead of myself first she dress like a cabin boy before boarding his ship hoping she can pull this off because if not she will be in for a life of pain with the plans her father has for her. It doesn’t take long for her to be found out, one look and the captain new she was a women. The captain isn’t very happy and makes demands of his own which leads to some very hot passionate scenes that will make you blush.

I really liked the plot and the characters that lead to a very entertaining read that held my attention and kept me turning the pages. The chemistry between these two is hot and off the charts filled with passion and longing. A very well written and thought out story that is intriguing with vivid details that makes you almost feel like you are right there watching.

Mary had me in her hands from the start with all she had to deal with. Her love of her country is outstanding it made me proud of her and all she stood for. She isn’t a woman to take what is dished out but stands proud and is demanding in her own way. Captain Grant had to do a little work for me to like him but he came through even with that tough side and a voice that make grown men jump to his demands he became a very likable character. The author was able to turn him in to a wonderful man any women would be happy to have. Erotic is not a genre I read a lot of most is lacking in plot and story not the case with this author she knows how to pull of the plot, love scenes to really make it an interesting read filled with excitement and thrills. I look forward to reading more of her work.

First off this was my first "Scorched" book. The story and characters were well written...Mary is the descendant of the owner of the Castle Dunraven. She plans on may the New Lord's son and reclaim her rightful place. The adventure and means to get it done was quite ambitious! Her Johnny goes off to war and certain twists lead Mary to go after him. She becomes a "cabin boy" to Captain Richard Grant. He knows instantly he is a she and does his best to protect her. More twists and she ends up accused of being a French spy and must escape the gallows and ends up on another ship to head back home. Well a French ship attacks and kills everyone but Mary and who is the one to save her Johnny the now traitor for the French. She is angry and wants him to leave with her and boom they are attacked by the English ...Captain Grant. More Twist ensue and things certainly end up with Mary on the winning side. Great story....LOTS of sizzle a bit too much for me. "scorched" stories are not for me. That does NOT mean it is poorly written. It is a great love story of a woman determined to fight for her people, her home and her country. The Erotica part is not for me...If you like that sort of thing then you will NOT be disappointed in this book! You will love both then!

C.B. Halverson is a new author for me. But I love finding new authors to add to my favorites list. When I do find one I place them on my auto buy for new releases as soon as they become available. This book will be placed on my keeper read and reread shelf. The Captain’s Rebel is a complete romance filled with unexpected hot, steamy passion between the characters, danger, action, pirates, disagreements, mystery, laughter, tenderness, strength, and eventually trust beyond question.

The well-developed characters pull the reader into their world and allows them to feel the faraway land where the story unfolds in such a way they may feel as if they go back in time to this historical era, become part of the characters, and feel the gripping tale unfold. This author has the remarkable talent to grab the reader at the first page and hold them through the last. Excellently written, the plot and characters become a part of the reader’s day.

Captain Richard Grant didn’t fight his way to the ranks of the Royal Navy to be undone by an independent headstrong lady, hell bent on destroying his mission. This hellion insists on dressing like a man, and therefore should take his punishments. Demanding obedience, he finds his need become insatiable and leads to a game of sex, desire, and dominance, raging out of even his control.

Mary O’Malley is determined to win back her ancestral home. Disguising herself as a cabin boy she embarks on a journey to make this happen. But the stern captain demands complete and total submission, two things she will never give. When her false identity leads to rumors of her being a spy, she must choose between the frustrating captain and her love for Ireland.

All the reader should do is open to page one of this fast paced read and become completely engrossed. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves sexy, steamy, passionate romances.

Full disclosure; I only recently started reading erotica. Most I've read have been mediocre at best, they provided a needed escape from real life, but the writing and plot always left something to be desired. Now I realize I was just reading the wrong books! Who knew a book could be so ridiculously hot and also be incredibly well written and have such a strong plot? The characters are well developed, the romance believable(which is rare in my experience!), and the plot was thoroughly engaging and left me wanting to delve deeper into Irish history. And the sex? Hot hot hot!!! This is a must read for fans of historical romance!
