Can a summer romance last forever?

Wren Roberts thought he’d found his fairy tale when he met Mateo Rossi on holiday in Majorca. The wealthy and successful older man swept him off his feet, and before he knew it, he’d thrown caution to the wind and was living in Mateo’s waterside apartment in Venice. It’s a far cry from his harsh upbringing and crummy flat in London.

But as the summer turns to autumn, cracks begin to show. Mateo’s family aren’t welcoming, and there doesn’t seem to be a place for Wren in Mateo’s world. He could have coped with all of that, but Mateo himself seems like a different person away from the sunshine island.

Should Wren have been more cautious in riding off into the sunset when he wasn’t sure what lay over the horizon?

From bestselling author Lily Morton comes a romance about two men who find that sometimes happily ever after doesn’t end there.

Loved Wren ❤️

Loved Wren ❤️
**3.5 Cuckoo Stars** Wren and Teo were complete opposites in theory, but they fit together beautifully when it really matrered. Wren's attitude towards life was refreshing, he looked at life with a glass half full attitude. He wasn't lucky in love and hadn't been in life, but that didn't stop his honest smile. Teo was jaded, the men in his life came and went through a revolving door. Meeting Wren changed that for him. The two of them together made me grin from ear to ear. Their easy banter was fun and the love that blossomed between them warmed my heart ❤️❤️❤️

I find it refreshing that not only do I not know what I’m in for plot and character wise when it comes to Lily, I DO know that I will be reading something that far exceeds most writers in the MM genre.

There is a reason Lily’s books are so popular, and this one is another reason why. We have fun and REAL characters, we have vivid descriptions of every detail of the world and characters that it is impossible to not be 100% immersed. And we have REAL feelings. So many complicated feelings that are honestly, totally uncomplicated when you get down to the root of things. This book takes you on a journey and while some of it hurt, it was 100% worth the HEA.

I will also suggest what my friends suggested, and tell readers to skip the prologue and read it once you’re done with the book but before the epilogue. I’m not sure why it was necessary, and I’m glad I didn’t read it first.

Enjoyed this book so much. Wren’s outlook on life in spite of his life was beautiful. His open and honest expression of everything was what drew Teo in, he’d never met anyone like him. Wren knew there was a chance of being hurt but why not enjoy this kind, funny, sweet hotelier while he could? Teo being older definitely learned so much from Wren about the real world, love and taking the time to enjoy life. The descriptions of Majorca and Venice were beautiful, I can see why they were on Wren’s bucket-lust.

This is a classic Lily Morton romance, with wit and humor and sweetness in a setting so wonderfully described it becomes another character.
Wren, 22 year old former foster kid, is a wonderful character- brave and kind and optimistic, even as he’s alone in the world with almost no support. Abandoned on a holiday to Majorca by an old friend, broke and alone, Wren meets Mateo, an older, wealthy hotelier. Mateo is drawn to the irrepressible Wren, and strikes a deal to have Wren be his assistant for the week. The two men travel the island, getting to know and like one another, but always knowing this is temporary: Mateo doesn’t do commitment, and Wren knows he doesn’t really have any place in Mateo’s world…until Mateo invites Wren to come home with him to Venice for a month, just a month, to see the city and continue getting to know one another. And here’s where it gets hard, where the escape of a holiday romance meets the reality of life at home.
I won’t spoil the story other than to say that this is a familiar Lily Morton dynamic- richer/older/sophisticated man who is somewhat closed off to live meets a snarky/younger/lovely man who shows him the error of his ways. There’s a couple side characters who try to cause trouble, a couple side characters who try to help, and a tantalizing little glimpse of two men I hope will become the main characters of a second book…🤞
All in all, this was a great book. The familiarity of some of Lily Morton’s tropes didn’t take anything away for me.

The Cuckoo's Call is a standalone MM Contemporary Romance. HEA. Age-gap / May-December. Really Romantic, Sweet and Cute, Holiday romance, Billionaires, Slow burn, Comfort reads, Favorites. 5/5.

2 POV, 3rd person, present tense. 331 pages. Kindle edition 331 pages, November 20th 2021.

I think this one cured me of my long, dreadful book slump :)
Just exactly what I needed. So well written, a classic Morton at best with all the witty repartee and all the romantic romance and well drawn lively and magnetic characters and a beautiful classic HEA to finish it off. Somebody else called it "swoony" and I heartily agree: it is that. I've nothing but praise.

I enjoyed it immensely. Insta-favourite-comfort read listed. Warmly recommended!

A very broke twenty-something Wren meets 40 year-old hotel mogul Mateo. Wren is a breath of fresh air who, despite a life of foster care and a job that isn’t exactly glamorous, lives with honesty and humor and enthusiasm in the most refreshing way. Mateo is a good hearted hotelier who meets someone wholly unlike anyone he’s ever known, and it’s wonderful.

Low angst, an awesome grandfather, a love of books, explorations of Majorca and Venice, and some family drama… sounds great.

Nobody in this relationship takes advantage of anyone, and while there are a few seemingly Pretty Woman like moments, Wren is not a rent boy. The sex scenes are steamy, but only a couple are on the more graphic side. If you’ve read her work before, you’ll know what I mean. If you haven’t… what are you waiting for?

Start to finish I loved this book, one of her best!

This was my first Lily Morton book, but it won't be my last. Set in two places that I love, it took me back to my times there. You can feel the relationship building as Wren and Teo get to know each other. I fell in love with them as they fell in love with each other.

The story is beautifully paced and the settings magnificent. The characters became real. I continue to wonder how they are. I would love to go see them and find out how they are doing.

When you read the book, the title of my review becomes clearer.

I always loved books by Lily Morton and this is another great story. Wren and Mateo's grumpy vs sunshine personalities make this such a great experience. They are the balance the other didn't know they needed. If you love other stories by Lily Morton, this is definitely going to be another one you'll enjoy. The audiobook with narration from Joel Leslie makes the experience even more enjoyable.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

This is one of the best books from this author.
Wren is sweet, open and kind, while Teo is cold, wealthy and unmovable on the outside, but in need of so much love.
The story is slow and sweet. I loved it! Majorca and Venice are well described.
    I recommend it!

The best book i read in a while.
At first i thought it will be the usual holiday romance book. That thought already vanished on the first page though.
Its absolutely lovely and sad at the same time.
It describes two amazing people who couldn’t be much more different or come from more different worlds, but their souls called out to each other and without really knowing how it happened you suddenly know they are in love and are simply perfect for each other, even though they don’t immediately recognize it themselves.
