Isla and Theo are just right for each other. Theo hides behind his walls and work. He keeps his life and heart closed off to everyone. Grieving the loss of his parents, and now his grandmother, he has dealt with so much loss. Camilla, the dachshund, is grieving the loss of his grandmother as well. This causes her to act out profusely. One mistake caused Isla her career, but she has sacrificed so much in order to take care of Dani. Dani's abandonment issues keeps Isla on a short leash as well. Dani is Isla's top priority, and Isla will do whatever she has to to give Dani the stability she needs. What starts off as Isla dogsitting for Theo turns into a love that both these characters desperately needed, but just didn't know it. This was a really great read that pulls at your heart, and has you rooting for every character in this book. Stefanie London just wrote this so beautifully with the right amount of romance, comedy, passion, resilience, and strength that makes this whole story just absolutely perfect.

The story is funny with a great little dog character who almost steals the show. Stefanie Landon showcases her dry wit with characters who talk to themselves and animals with funny outcomes. Isla steals into Theo’s life and heart and heals all the cracks and broken pieces. It is a redemption based in love for both of them.

    As my Amazon account says, I am a Dachshund Lover. So when I saw a book with Dachshund in the title, and "New York Times Bestselling Author", I instantly bought it though I regret it now. I rarely pay full price for books and wisht I didn't for this one, but too late now. Also if I had known it was a Harlequin Romance, I would not have bought it. I have not read Harlequin romances since I was in high school, nearly 50 years ago. As Harlequin's go, this was better than the ones I read as a kid, however, personally I swiped past all the steamy love scenes in this book. They are not my cup of tea for entertainment reading. I can't blame the author for my mistake in buying a book, but I will say as someone who has had 7 dachshunds in their life over the years and presently have 2, this author does not know the breed and didn't spend time with it to write the book. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if this author had no idea that different dog breeds have different personalities. If you are a lover of a certain breed, this makes a difference when reading a story supposedly about them. Additionally, it is deceptive that the dachshund on the cover of the book is a Red Short Hair, big enough to be a standard, but the dog in the book is a Pale Cream Long Haired miniature Dachshund. I feel deceived that this was a book with a Dachshund as a main character. It very much was not. Some of the reviews I read first gave the idea the book had too much about the dog in it. Just my cup of tea I thought. But it was not to be.

    The title intrigued me so when I started reading I couldn't put it down. It starts on a sad note but it ends on a happy one. The dachshund was the glue that brought them together and cemented their relationship. The sex was a little to explicit for my taste but the story was fun. I'm a dachshund lover so of course had to read this book but if you love dogs this is the book for you!
