    Book Review by Stephanie FOR The Demon Series Compendium by E. H. James.

    This novel was read just after doing a cover reveal for it. The cover and blurb were truly intriguing and I just had to read it! I was not disappointed in the least. There are parts where you may not be able to sleep with the lights off. There are also parts where everything is explained and nothing is left unfinished. What I love most about this novel is that it stuck with me days after I finished reading it. I believe that is what makes a great author, leaving your readers either wanting for more or just pondering over what a truly great experience they just had. This series blew my mind! E. H. James made sure to tell each character's story to make the puzzle fit completely together. Pieces that I didn't even realize were missing came to light.

    This is my first novel by E. H. James but it won't be the last. I absolutely recommend one-clicking this novel.

    The Red Door
    An incredible story full of creepy and crawly. This is for sure no bedtime story and one I don't recommend reading in the dark. This story is one to bring about nightmares to the faint of heart and keep an avid horror reader on the edge of their seat. The characters were fantastic and the story-line was phenomenal and one I won't forget anytime soon. I highly recommend this to all horror lovers.

    Beyond the Red Door
    What a twisted and evilly wicked story. This author does not disappoint and I loved it. These new sets of characters were phenomenal and the story-line, though creepy, is extremely addicting. Even with the blood and gore, I found myself smiling at the end of the story. It's an all around awesome story and I highly recommend it.

    Resurrection
    What another twisted, gory, yet awesome story. This author has a way of writing these horror stories and keeping you glued to it from beginning to end. This story was a shocking one, with one heck of a surprising ending. These new characters were amazing and the story-line was incredible and this one was by far my favorite of the three. I highly recommend this read.

    This was another amazing story with complex details to it, but not too much that it made the story boring.

    The characters were the same and just as awesome as before. I still felt a connection with the characters.

    The story-line, though very complex, was an incredible read. I love how the author takes us into a different place that no other author has been before. A place into many past parts of the previous books, which made this a unique and fascinating story. I am curious about where this author will take us next and I highly recommend it. I do recommend that mature 18 and older read this story due to the graphic scenes in the story.

    What an amazing turn of events and and incredible story. I never thought that the author would bring forth this new twisted story in this series. This was a shocking story that kept me glued from beginning to end. I also loved how this author brought this story to live and made it collide with one of the other stories. It was so cool how two different lives collided without us truly knowing it. I really enjoyed this story and its outcome and I think this one is by far my favorite story yet. This author is an absolute genius and I highly recommend this read.

    Of Noble Blood
    Wow, this was another amazing story. I love how the author takes each story and makes it the POV of each character and how these characters connect at some point and cross paths.

    The characters in this story were once again phenomenal. The POV of this story was Amara and it was so fascinating to see how her story unfolded and cross paths with Jesse.

    The story-line was incredible. The turn of each page was so addicting and refreshing. I loved the detail that the author went into to explain what happened from beginning to end and the flashbacks and the heartache that the character went through had me in tears. This is the first book that the author actually had me crying instead of the edge of my seat frightened for the characters. This is by far my favorite story out of the whole collection and I highly recommend this read.

    The Path
    What an awesome way to end a series.

    The characters were phenomenal. I loved reading about Tim and the roll he played throughout this series and in this particular story.

    The story-line was amazing. The author pulled out all the stops while writing this story and making a memorable happy ending. It's sad that this is the last book, but it has been one heck of a journey and I enjoyed every minute of it. I highly recommend this read.

    Canadian author E.H. James is a prolific writer of short stories – stories that test the imagination and call forth ghost like thoughts of the dark world about which we know very little. James is part of that conundrum as there is no biographical information on this gifted author as though that is meant to be part of the mysteries presented. We learn that she has read and researched in the areas of parapsychology and metaphysics, for the past 40 years, and has woven the real and imaginary together into stories of the strange and bizarre. The fruits of her labor show!

    James’ mastery of the short story is obvious to those readers fortunate to have been introduced to her craft. In a matter a few pages she is able to conjure an atmosphere that challenges the reader’s courage to enter past the initial page, and the manner in which she quickly sketches lifelike characters and draws us into their interactions with the challenges they encounter is masterful.

    THE DEMON SERIES COMPENDIUM demonstrates James’ mastery of the short story. In a Compendium of eight novellas she sets the seed for the series well in volume one and continues that through the entire series that spans centuries yet all begins on a September night, in 1962, when Max Jensen steps into the cellar of Edward Starke, on the anniversary of the serial killer’s execution. Setting into motion a series of events that will change history, it is now up to Jesse Miller, together with an ex-priest, a reporter, a ghost, a high school buddy, and a demon killing beast, to attempt to set the timeline back again. Will they succeed, or will demons wipe humanity from the face of the planet?

    This is a superb series with important concepts related in a fashion that makes the entertainment of reading the entire book a challenge for the reader to think outside the box. In all it is a very, very fine magnum opus. Highly Recommended. Grady Harp, December 17
