    Dimitri grew up without his father and his mother was the leader of one quadrant of the Canadian city's crime syndicate. Ava grew up with a mother who did not love her and a loving stepfather who led another of the quadrants. From the time Ava was ten, they became friends and when she turned 18 they became secret lovers. Secret, because her father and his mother would never approve. This is the story of how they overcame insurmountable obstacles, how they fought for their love. The story has plenty of suspense, likable strong characters, a real villain and some steamy sex. I marked it down because the editing was mediocre.

    Loved both of these books, and sad to see them go. I wish there were more in this series I enjoyed them so much. They are both so different from the books releasing lately which makes me like them more. The characters are more realistic, no one is invincible, but they're all strong characters which I love. No unnecessary angst or drama, no OW drama, no weak characters. There was some humor, but this one was more emotional to me, and I may have cried at a couple points.

    I loved this book in it's entirety, but there was one thing that annoyed me and it was the timeline, more so in the beginning of the book. The author kept throwing out years and ages, and I'm pretty sure not all of them made sense in the timeline. For example, she was 25, and were apart for 8 years, so they would be apart since she was 17. But then we find out they didn't get together until she was 18, and were together for a year until she was 19 which would make her 27 presently, except we were told she was 25. Then another one was the hero mentioning how he taught her how to use a gun 11 years before which would have made her 14, but then he goes on to say that she had just turned 16. I'm also pretty sure he changed from being 8 years older than her, to 6. So that was constantly happening for half the book, and probably the only thing I didn't really like. It was confusing and I was constantly trying to figure out the timeline. Other than that, great book!

    THIS WAS AMAZING. So much went on in the book, but it was a great build up to the ultimate ending. At times, I didn't even realize what was happening until the final pieces fell together, and then I sorta just sat there like... that just happened. It blew my mind.

    Our MCs have known each other for most of their lives, but it comes in remembrances and recollections as they continue to do their own story in the present. I think one of the best things about this was how there were so many stories linking all together to make up one big masterpiece for me. It kept me in suspense. I enjoyed the characters and the different things they brought to the table, particularly Ava's best friend, Robby. Despite not always being in the picture, his character went through some major transformations, and I absolutely love it.

    I love Phoenix's writing and although it's been a while since I've read her books, I'm definitely going to start up again. She managed to meld so many things together and make it work: crime/gang life, romance, sexy times, comedy and even tragedy. If I could give this a higher rating, I would.

    Definitely not a book to treat like a fast read, it's got a whole lot of entertainment that'll make you laugh out loud and cry (at least it did for me).

    Wow!! This book is simply amazing! Dimitri and Ava are completely adorable and totally lovable. No matter how tough Dimitri (up and coming Crime Lord) tries to be he is always sweet to Ava who has been raised by Dimitri's father (John-Paul).

    The story starts with Dimitri kidnapping Ava in order to get John-Paul to vouch for him as the new Crime Lord of the North. During the kidnapping everything goes awry when they are attacked. Throughout the non-stop action, the story covers their history as a couple and eventually we learn why John-Paul was not involved in Dimitri's live. I was constantly trying to figure out who was responsible. I love Airicka Phoenix's writing more and more with every book.

    This is Dmitri and Ava's story. A good read but I am not sure if I enjoyed this story as much as book 1. I intend to read more stories by this author as I enjoy her storytelling.

    wow where to start this is my second book by this author and i cant get enough .....this book had me gripped from the first chapter and has to be one of my favourites this year .....there is just so many parts to the story i loved john paul turns out he was a stoned face man for a reason but his love for ava but hate for Dimitri would pull on your heart because Dimitri never asked for his life ......i fell in love with him from the start his my kind of man 😂😂😂 ....dont wanna spoil to much but i would definitely recommend this book
