The Last Man in London
Rogues & Gentleman, Book 9

Dinah Osborne needs a husband and she needs one now.
Not just any man will do. To meet the terms of her rather eccentric grandfather’s will, she must be safely engaged to marry a man of worth before her twenty-first birthday or she’ll not receive a penny of her rather large inheritance. Sadly her social climbing grandfather’s notions of worth and her own are not in the least alike, and nothing but a Lord will satisfy the terms of his will. But Dinah is alone in the world and has no entry into the select ranks of the ton.

She does, however, know a thing or two about blackmail.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A Different Tale - This book fascinated me because it was a different tale than any other romance I’ve read. The characters are not all from the ton. So their lives lead us down a new path but with strength in their characters which allows us to admire them, root for them and come to love them.- Amazon Customer

Enter Lord Benjamin Lancaster
Lord Benjamin Lancaster is a determined rake, a hardened gambler, and the kind of man who fills Dinah with disgust. However a title is a title, and she’s quite content to use him for her own ends. Yet her fake fiancé is not quite as easy to handle as Dinah had hoped, and he’s determined to have more for his trouble than the financial reward promised him. Dinah is not immune to his deep blue eyes or his dark charm, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s the last man in London that she would ever give her heart to …

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐What a Rogue! I have read many of the Rogues and Gentlemen books, but I think this one is my favorite. Emma Leech weaves a tale of romance that wraps you up in hope, desire and everlasting love. Truly a gifted writer and I can't wait to read more! -Amazon Customer

Warning: This book has a stubborn, willful and feisty heroine and a drool worthy gentleman. There WILL be some cursing and graphically descriptive sex scenes no way even bordering on erotica!

The Rogues & Gentlemen series can be enjoyed as stand-alone novels or as part of the wider series. If the full series appeals, the suggested – but by no means essential - reading order would be:

• Book 1: The Rogue
• Book 2: The Earl's Temptation
• Book 3: Scandal's Daughter
• Book 4: The Devil May Care
• Book 5: Nearly Ruining Mr Russell
• Book 5.5: Winter's Wild Melody
• Book 6: One Wicked Winter
• Book 7: To Tame a Savage Heart
• Book 8: Persuading Patience
• Book 9: The Last Man in London
• Book 10: Flaming June
• Book 11: Charity and The Devil
• Book 12: A Slight Indiscretion
• Book 13: The Corinthian Duke
• Book 14: The Blackest of Hearts
• Book 15 Duke and Duplicity
• Book 16 The Scent of Scandal
• Book 16.5 The Christmas Rose
• Book 17 Melting Miss Wynter
• Book 17.5 The Winter Bride, a Rogues & Gentlemen Novella

Happy reading! And please do leave a review if you can – it would mean the world to hear what you enjoyed most about the book.

    I really enjoyed this Book/Story.

Dinah & Ben were wonderful characters even though they were from different classes.

I am looking forward to reading Isabella & Henry's Story in the next book in this series.

An enjoyable story of Ben, a spoiled third son of a Lord, and Dinah, the penniless granddaughter of a wealthy man who find themselves under obligation to become engaged—she, to inherit from her grandfather, and he, to honor his gambling debt to her. Ben is the last of his profligate friends—all the rest have become ‘leg-shackled’. None of that for him!

There is the evil lawyer who wants Dinah and her wealth all to himself, who must be convinced of the sincerity of the betrothal. And there is Ben’s family which must, somehow, accept Dinah into the fold, despite her rough background. The stage is set for an enjoyable story that develops a romantic overtone and ends with a HEA. Readers who love clean Regency Romances will enjoy this delightful, and rather light-hearted, book.

I have read a few of the series and you will not be lost if you start with this one. The author is talented and pulled me into the story and caring for the H/h from the beginning.

This is a romance story that builds slowly. Lately when I read this genre, romance is lacking, but not here. There is one foreplay scene prior to marriage and mildly described. There is passionate lovemaking, within marriage and heat level 4 out of 5. I didn't find it vulgar but because I liked both H/h you felt their connection and love. The scenes don't last chapter after chapter - just near the end.

The secondary character's are richly written and you will care for them. I will have to research because I hope Tommy, Will and even Joe get a chance at HEA.

We have no cheating, no cliffhanger, we are treated to an epilogue about 1 year in the future, romance and HEA. What I enjoyed also, there would be misunderstanding or lack of communication and it didn't last long. There banter also added to the story. I recommend this story and others by this author.

I can't improve on the blurb, so not trying, just what you may get out of reading it. This author writes her character's with such depth, you feel like you know them. (ljb)

4 1/2 stars. I always enjoy this author’s stories! Joe was a great character as the protective adopted father of Dinah. The two of them had needed to work hard to survive, sometimes illegally. When Dinah’s estranged grandfather dies, she cannot inherit his money unless she quickly marries a man with a title. They choose Ben Lancaster to be a fake fiancé and find a way to compel him to do it. Of course, things became complicated. It was delightful to see Ben and Dinah fall in love and overcome obstacles!

Very likable Hero and heroine, both of whom have wonderful friends. Ms. Leech develops fantastic plot lines. It is a hallmark of this series for me. Some of her books form better connections between the love interests than others. This one did not quite hit the high notes of some of her others, hence only 4 stars. All the elements were there, and clearly the eventual marriage was a love match, but more for the telling than the showing. That aside, I really wanted to see more of these characters and their story, especially the HEA.

First off, there were more typos in this book than the others in the series (except the first book - that was horrible!) A proofreader would have been greatly appreciated.
Another problem I had with this story was continuity. I believe it was in two earlier stories (not just one), reference was made to Ben having illegitimate children. I wondered how they might be incorporated into the storyline, but it was as if they didn't exist. They weren't mentioned or even alluded to. And in case it was just a rumor going around about the children, why didn't the author just mention that fact in passing at the very least?
I took a star off for these reasons.

This story is hilarious and brought a smile and laughter as Dinah tries to manage Lord Benjamin Lancaster. I don't think the author meant it to be a romantic comedy, but these two reprobates are perfect together as they face the ridiculous to get Dinah's inheritance from the nasty weaselly lawyer. Let's face it, a regular woman of the ton would never had snared Ben's heart. The man is reprehensible, and needs someone who has the backbone to stand against his rakish ways.

There were heart wrenching moments and lol moments. I don't tell the story but I will tell you to pickup this book and you will not be disappointed. Thanks Emma for a good read!!!

A slightly different setting in Cheapside the more humble side of London. Having been living from hand to mouth, learning how to pick locks, pick pockets and cheat at cards, Dinah Osbourne discovers she has been left a fortune by a grandfather she has never met. The only stipulation to the will is that she be engaged before she is twenty one years old, to a member of the ton.
Lord Benjamin Lancaster is a well know rake. Having made a bet with a young woman to owe her a debt of honour of he loses, he does so when playing cards with her. The debt?....A fake engagement for a short period of time.
The different setting allowed for other types of character to emerge. There is drunken Dot who is kept by Dinah as propriety demands. In particular there is a great character Joe who brought Dinah up rather than see her go to the workhouse when she lost her parents at a young age.
The story adds another dimension of showing what happens when the ton believe one of their own is stepping out of line. A good read.
