The Professor's Date: Nerd/Jock MM Romance (The Script Club Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 783 ratings

The professor, the hair stylist, and a wedding date…

Tommy

Help! My sister is getting married and according to her, I need a date. And a makeover. I’m a busy man, though. I don’t have time to meet eligible bachelors, and the tape holding my glasses together works just fine. Until my hair stylist steps on them.

Yes, Noah, my dazzling dreamboat of a hair guru created a mini disaster, but I don’t mind at all. He’s a sweet, funny, kind jock who—

Screech! No jocks. I have nothing in common with sporty people.

Except…Noah is different.

Noah

I don’t date. However, I’m not opposed to offering fashion advice to a sexy professor in need. A haircut, a quick shopping expedition...

Boom! Mission accomplished.

Not so fast. I’ve misjudged the situation and my attraction to the geek with the tragic sense of style. Sure, Thomas is too smart for me by a long shot, but there’s something about him that makes it easy to forget my past. It might be his quietly commanding nature or his movie-star good looks. Or maybe it’s just him.

All I know is that I’m very tempted to be the professor’s date.

The Professor’s Date is an MM geek/jock romance featuring a nerdy professor, a soccer-playing hair stylist, and a quest for the perfect date!

Aaaa, Lane Hayes She did it again! Wrote a story that had me invested from the first pages. Smoking hot chemistry! And some delicious dirty talk! - Goodreads Reviewer

Great plot, storyline and characters - Goodreads Reviewer

...a slow burn with some heartache but everything works out and it's beautiful. - Goodreads Reviewer

I loved everything about The Professor's Date! Tommy and Noah together are perfection. Each filling in the broken pieces of each other. - Goodreads ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book has all the feels. So many funny moments. Tommy is so much more than what he appears and he is everything that Noah needs, he just has to convince Noah of that. 5 GIANT STARS for the professor and Noah's story - Goodreads Reviewer

Absolutely sublime! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can't even begin to describe how much I loved this book! It was charming, funny, sweet...and it made me seethe with anger and cry hysterically. Yup, the emotional full house. I read the book in one sitting because I couldn't let go and I was so sad when it ended. The catharsis and rejuvenation evident in the epilogue are like a renewal for all of us. Just lovely.- Amazon Reviewer

5.0 out of 5 stars Noah and Tommy
It's been awhile since I've read a Lane Hayes book (probably since her last release) and this just reminded me how much I love her writing. Noah and Tommy are adorable together and their chemistry is off the charts. My heart did break for Noah's past but Tommy was the support he needed to finally realize his self worth. I have enjoyed every book in this series, but this might be my favorite.- Amazon Reviewer

I devoured this book in one sitting..Although Noah and Thomas are complete opposites in every way, they are inexplicably drawn to each other and have the sweetest, organic chemistry. Lane is a master of dialogue and writes in the now. We get to experience the relationship as it unfolds in real time as if we were a fly on the wall and it is something I LOVE so very much when reading. A feel GREAT read, it is low angst but I definitely shed a few tears and was left with all the warm and fuzzies. I can not wait to get this baby in my ears and experience it all over again!! - Amazon Reviewer

Lane Hayes lives in sunny Southern California with her amazing husband, who thankfully doesn’t mind cooking, and their fabulous fox red Labrador, George, who’s pure mischief. Both provide oodles of inspiration for the low-angst, humorous books Lane loves to write.

She’s been telling stories about sexy, funny, sometimes geeky and quirky men who find love for a dozen years now and loving every minute. In her previous life, she sat at a desk and dealt with numbers, so yes…romance is much more satisfying!

Lane loves tea, travel, and chocolate…in any order. Add a book and she’s set!

This was my favorite book of the series!! I love Tommy and Noah. Their story is so romantic and full of love. Tommy is a brilliant PhD candidate and professor whose meddling family wants him to improve his look for his twin sister’s wedding festivities. He starts by getting a haircut from Noah, a former professional soccer player. Their initial meeting is the absolute definition of a meet-cute, complete with a bumbling moment when Tommy’s glasses are broken. This sparks Tommy and Noah’s makeover journey. Tommy is less interested in the new clothes and more so about convincing Noah they’d be the perfect couple. Noah’s resistance to being in a relationship is heartbreaking, believing his past has left him broken. But Tommy’s passion, determination, and - let’s face it - skills in the bedroom tempt Noah to face his insecurities.

This book deals with homophobia, homophobic violence, and losing family because of homophobia. These are obviously intense topics, so there are some emotional moments. Still, the overall tone of the book skews more toward the sweet and heartwarming side rather than heart wrenching. Part of that is the way Lane Hayes writes the romantic moments. It’s like Tommy is wooing Noah, without realizing he’s doing it. It’s just so cute and made my heart feel happy.

We also get some fun interactions with Holden and Ezra, so I’m definitely looking forward to their story! And of course we get cameos from other members of The Script Club.

    My favorite of the series.

Sometimes when there’s a nerd/jock dynamic, the nerd is hopelessly clueless and shy and it becomes about a cool confident guy and his nerdy little crush.

This book isn’t that dynamic. Here the nerd is very self-assured, handsome, a bit dominating and yes, very smart.
His partner, while a jock, is refreshingly not an archetypical Masc Jock, but rather a former soccer player who now works as a hairdresser and likes a bit of makeup on occasion.

I really enjoyed their dynamic as I didn’t know quite what to expect from these two.

The conflict was also well done- Lane Hayes doesn’t usually do drama just for drama and her characters are typically pretty straightforward and honest communicators. These two were as well, and I liked that they talked to each other about what was happening.

Have been enjoying this series thus far and this is my favorite story. Tommy gets a hair cut from Noah. There is attraction from the start, and neither can believe that the other would be into him or be good enough for him, but they continue seeing each other anyway and their friendship deepens into so much more. Tommy was a nice surprise. He’s a dark horse in that Noah brings out a side to him that had been untapped until now, and it’s a good look on him. Noah has had trauma in his past, both physical and emotional, that has been his excuse to push people away. He doesn’t count on Tommy not allowing this to happen. I just really liked these guys and their honesty and care of each other. In the meantime, you can see Holden’s story coming a mile away but it should be fun when it comes out next month. Tommy and Noah 🥰

Love conquors everything in life. Two completely opposite characters meet under strange circumstances, nothing really in common with each other, yet have an immediate attraction for each other and after stops & starts, fall head over heels in love. A very beautiful and touching story reminding us of just how hard it is for lots of gay people to come out to their families and friends. The best story in this series so far. Thank you Lane Hayes

I am always quick to jump on Lane Hayes books. I love the sports themes in many of them, and I always find the books enjoyable. This one didn't really meet my expectations, but I did find it a quick, enjoyable read. Tommy is the nerdy professor with a dominant side, and Noah is the jock with a submissive side. I liked the role reversal. Usually we see jock types that are dominant. I also loved that Noah was more than a "jock." He was glittery, fabulous, and spunky. It felt like stereotypes were busted in this book, and I really liked that.

<b>Contains: a weird scientist, a funny hairstylist jock, commitment issues, need a date for a wedding shower.
    </b>
Very well written. The author once again presents us with <b>unique, likeable and endearing characters,</b> even a little awkward.

    **May contains spoilers**
Enter the world of an awkward scientist who is comfortable in his skin and is always himself. He has difficulty with confrontation and will have to mature to define his boundaries at work and with his family. He finds himself in a complex relationship with a hairdresser and soccer player. This one has a heavy past with ptsd and commitment issue. <i>Could they still be compatible when bith their world collide together? </i>

I would have really liked a proud moment where he shows off his relationship against his homophobic parents, like at his sister-in-law's wedding, but in a way, he wasn't there yet in his journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant addition to the series

This was another brilliant book to the series. I loved the relationship between these two characters. Tommy wasn't so much of a 'nerd' nothing too quirky, just a genius who also gave the reader interesting facts. Noah was a more complex character that had deep layers of hurt to get through. Tommy was the perfect person to help. Glad they worked out.

Well that was a bust. It was like eating bland food. Boring, no real character & just enough spice to make you ask why the food wasn’t properly spiced or salted. Not terrible but not good either. I want to read Ezra’s story but the writing style is mildly irritating that I may give it a miss. I would say 3 🌟
