The Son of Darkness (The French Vampire Legend Book 4) Kindle Edition
Jéhenne Corbeaux has faced extraordinary enemies and more dangers than anyone has the right to survive, but now she must confront her past in order to find her son.
Corvus, Master of the vast and powerful Albinus family is back where he belongs with his beloved wife at his side. The shadow of his time in Tartarus still clings to him though, and his control is not what it once was.
Jéhenne, witch, goddess, and Mistress of their great family is not a woman to mess with, but there’s one man who she’ll obey without question—because she has no choice—and it isn’t her husband.
Corin Albrecht, the most powerful Fae their world has ever seen, has a hold on Jéhenne that Corvus knows nothing about. If the truth comes out, the results could be spectacular and deadly.
Guided by the half-fae mercenary, Dragon, on a journey into the war-torn Fae Lands, Jéhenne faces dangers the like of which she has never before seen—and the most dangerous of all, the truth of what passed between her and Corin, and the lies she told to keep herself safe.
On her quest to find her son, hidden from her by the boy’s father, Dis Pater, Jéhenne is accompanied by those she trusts and loves most. Corvus, her brother Cain, best friend Rodney, and also Kai, searching for the family he’s never known.
There is much to be discovered on this perilous journey, and a great deal to lose.
Jéhenne wants to return home with the family she has always longed for but as always… there is a price to pay.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA perfect ending to an amazing series. I'm gonna miss Jehenne and Corvus. Im so, so happy for their happy ending. Corin, Laen, and Claudette(Oceana, although brief), was nice that they was also present throughout the book. I am very satisfied with this series. A beautiful journey. I know I'm not the only one hoping for spinoff about Lander and Aurelia. Please let it happen!!! Thank you Emma V Leech!

If you are new to this series be sure to read this and the Dark Fae series in order. They intertwine so wonderfully!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have read almost every book by Emma Leech and she amazes me with the diversity of her writing talent - historical romance, mysteries fantasy and all are really good! I really think they should make the The French Vampire Legend into a movie or several movies. Can’t wait to read whatever else she writes!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSuch a long wait but completely worth it! Emma, you have weaved your Magic again! The wit, the charm, the emotion, the drama, the heartbreaks and more... contentment is the name for my feeling... 🤗
I wish I could read the book on and on... I wish the story had never ended... I wish I could still be in Fae land and not come back to this cruel earth. Alas! It is over and I will just have to wait for the next book to come out! 😌
I love Emma's Fae land and vampire legend stories the best. They are one of the best books in my library on Kindle. Not many books come closer to it, not even her own historical romance books. It is the magic... of Emma, of Fae lands, of the vampire families, of the witches and of the even miniscule characters … you relate to each and everyone of them! 😘
I hope Emma will not make us wait for a loooooong time for the continuation of story with none other than our Corin...😍 Please write it as soon as possible Emma, pretty please with few pounds on top! ❤🥰😍
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI want to start with saying I adore all of Emma's books (I think I've read all of them), but I am very torn about this ending to the French Vampire books.
I think overall this was a very satisfying ending. Corvus and Jéhenne get their happy ending with Lander and Aurelia. I finished this book in a couple of hours because I love the characters and story and had to know how everything ended. But I think there are a some things that we didn't get closure on and the storylines felt glazed over and rushed at some times.
~Warning - Spoilers~
One issue I have is that this book felt very different then the other three. It felt a bit rushed and not as emotional. There were emotional situations happening in this book of course, but they felt glazed over and less impactful than the story lines of the other books. For example, Jéhenne's son is found quickly in the book (which was fantastic, I really didn't want to spend the whole book waiting for him to be found) but the journey to find him wasn't very exciting. They arrived to the fae lands, travel a bit, see Corin (slight predictable drama), travel some more, and then stumble upon her son. Easy peasy I guess. Also the whole situation with Corin and Jéhenne lying to Corvus. Corvus was basically fine with everything that happened after biting Corin. It just felt too easy. I assume the author didn't want to put us readers through too much again (I know my heart was about to give out at multiple points in the other books haha), but I wish things weren't so easy at every turn in this book.
Then there is this side story line of some bad smugglers that they deal with really quickly but it really wasn't interesting to me. It felt super super glazed over and I didn't really see the point? What even happened to that bone wand? That felt important but then just faded away.
The one of the most exciting story line in my opinion is learning more about Lander and his powers, and there was barely any follow up on this. What are his powers *exactly*? What happening during his 2000 years locked away? How did he kill his 2nd monk "teacher"? I want to see him grow up and just learn so much more about him and I want to see him use his powers more. Also, why are books calling to him? Is "knowledge" somehow connected to his powers? What does this mean? The books talking to him felt big, but the only follow up was Jéhenne being like "We will deal with this and help him".
I love what Corin did for Corvus and Jéhenne and that was a big plus side to the book, but this also felt very rushed over and easy? Something else I wished to get some follow up on is their alliance and the unrest in the Fae kingdoms. It actually makes me think there will be another series off of this one to follow up on their new alliance and to show the kids as they grow? Also, what's going to happen with Cain and what Sariel told Jéhenne? He's staying in the fae lands but I would love to see more of him and hopefully some sort of healing.
Now the last thing I want to touch on (because this review is getting way too long!) is that I wished we saw more of Corvus in this book. To me he actually seemed to be on the backburner (always sleeping) and while he was in the action he just didn't feel like a huge character and "felt" different. Maybe this is only me and I'm reading too much into this haha
Like I said, I do love this book but I would list this as the "worst" book in the series. It was less emotional and while we did get a HEA for Corvus, Jéhenne and their children (too easily IMO) at the same time there were a lot of other character storylines that didn't get closure.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat can I say?? Emma has done what Emma does Best 💜 I must say if you haven't read any of this series it will be soo worth it to read from the start so everything will fall into place. Or It is just as awesome alone...
Myself, I started off with Emma's, Fae and Vampire Legend Series. So this was a MUST for me..
Emma knows how to cast her own spells on the pages she writes. You will feel like you are actually there in the Fae Kingdom with the most dream able King Corin and Prince Laen or meeting the Vampire Legend himself along with Jeanne, family and some very interesting friends.
You will have the ride of your life with all of the excitement, twists and turns, feel every emotional change between the characters and atmospheres between the lands. You will feel the love, heartbreak, anger and so much more. Trust me, you will find it hard to put any of Emma's books down, especially this long awaited ending (or hopefully beginning) to this very magical book..
- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI Loved this book from beginning to end, I couldn't put it down! No spoilers here you definitely want to read this for yourself! It is the perfect culmination of all the characters coming together in one final epic story that will leave you feeling just happy and exhilarated for Jehenne and Corvus their family and friends. 100% Recommend!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best read.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWaited with rapt excitement for this book. It was like all the books in the French fae and French vampire series, absolutely amazing. Loved the cross over of favourite main characters from both the fae series and the vampire series. I can't wait to re read them over and over. They're that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tear Jerking ! Wonderful Marvellous read ! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseJehenne is almost happy except that she doesn't have her son with her - he was hidden away by her former lover Dis Pater in the Fae Lands !
Corvus has vowed to accompany her but a vampire in the Fae Lands is surely a recipe for trouble !
Their journey is filled with adventures, trials and friends, old and new who would do anything to keep their family together.
Corin , the kind of the fae lands - has something special for Jehenne and Corvus which makes this book utterly heart rendering !
A beautiful conclusion - I think to Jehenne's and Corvus story - though I do hope for a continuation of the characters introduced to us in this series !
