    Dean Jacobs is one of the highest-paid and most sought-after supermodels. Everyone wants a piece of him. He hasn't let fame get to him, and he is one of the most down-to-earth talents in an industry where divas, egos, and make-believes are everything. He is seen as a "himbo," and very few go beyond his image.

    Jonas Durand is the owner of the model agency that discovered Dean. He likes control and is a workaholic. Dating a model is out of the question. But even Jonas can't deny the attraction toward Dean, especially when he is one of the few that see the real him.

    Dean is a gentle soul and likes to take care of others. He is also good at reading people and situations. Slowly, he will get passed Jonas' armor. The more Jonas knows Dean, the more protective of him he becomes. And it's endearing. They are also scorching together! By the way, Jonas knows how to grovel like no other.

    Lily Morton's characters are amazing, as are the descriptions of Paris during Fashion Week and the South of France. And after reading The Sunny Side, I'll be going through her backlist as I want to know the stories of Asa and Jude, Mal and Cadan.

    Can I just tell you right now how much I LOVED this story? Dean has got to be one of my favorite characters that I’ve read in a long time. He’s so incredibly sweet and selfless, one of the kindest guys around. I hated how self-deprecating he was when it came to his intelligence since he really was a bright person, and the issue he has isn’t his fault. His outlook is laid-back and he always sees so well into people, understanding them easily.

    Jonas, as the boss, has always kept emotional distance from his models. The attraction that lingers between him and Dean…it’s obvious but he does his best to brush it aside. Sorry, Jonas—life doesn’t make things that easy. Their relationship gradually builds and the two of them are just so perfect together.

    I will say that I haven’t read the previous books by this author that Dean was in as a supporting character, so I didn’t have a preconceived view of him going into this story. To me, here he has an air of innocence (of the mind, definitely not of the body) in how he responds to people, and just with hit whole attitude in general. He definitely has some fun moments, and he’s wonderful and making others happy.

    The only thing about this story that slightly irked me was Jonas’s reaction to something that happens with his daughter. While I get that many parents may overreact to certain situations with their children, I thought his response and how he treated Dean was a bit overboard and unwarranted. A personal reaction to it on my part, maybe…but it was enough to almost give me one of those “record scratch” moments while reading.

    Even with that, The Sunny Side was still a 5-star read for me, and that is 100% attributable to Dean’s absolutely lovely character. I highly recommend this story to any M/M romance fan, and this book is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

    I’ll start by saying that Joel Leslie is so incredibly talented. The amount of different accents he does during this book, seamlessly, is beyond impressive. He made it really easy to enjoy this book. Any book is safe in his hands lol.

    Alright folks. I’ve heard that Dean was a part of previous books (which I have not read), and therefore my understanding of his character will probably be different from those that know him as the stoner. The Dean I read about here needs to be protected at all cost. What a precious man. It’s heartbreaking reading about sweetheart characters with no self worth because people have constantly been putting them down. Dean thinks all he has to offer the world is that he’s pretty. He’s shocked when s*x isn’t transactional for once, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. He has a learning disability and therefore believes he isn’t smart. The fact that family and teachers, literally everyone who should have supported him all his life has repeatedly told him so, doesn’t help.

    I listened to this on audio, so I don’t have any quotes to add here, but this book surprised a laugh out of me on several occasions. Very rarely do I actually laugh out loud while reading alone, but this one got me even though there wasn’t the constant jokes and forced laughs that many romcoms suffer from. I enjoyed the balance of funny and serious.

    Jonas was an unexpectedly complex character, and he definitely underwent some growth during the book (thankfully lol). He was very much affected by his own upringing, which seemed to be very cold. His daughter was growing up with focus on summer school and homework at 5 years old instead of playing in the dirt with friends. He loved Dean helplessly, and messed up majorly at one point, which he had to work hard to make right. We’re talking some serious groveling.

    Dean’s interactions with Ruby were so cute, and while he may not be the most booksmart in the room, he understands humans and their emotions like few others.

    It’s not 5 stars for me simply because it’s such a long book. It kinda dragged for me in places and I got a little bored before it picked up again.

    Warm and lush and occasionally hilarious.
    I stayed up to read this one. Gorgeous story. I loved the slow build between these two men who have both wanted each other since they met.
    The friends, family members, employees and other models at the agency are screamingly funny, and my heart was captured by Dean, a vulnerable man working in a cutthroat business.
    Strong willed , handsome, ruthlessly capable , older man , Jonas , owner of the modelling agency that Dean works for , puts himself through a strange kind of hell where he desperately wants to protect and stay close to sweet , hardworking Dean while insisting to everyone - and himself- that he really must NEVER entertain the idea of having an actual relationship with him. It’s all sorts of wicked, poignant and ridiculous fun to watch Dean slowly but surely dismantle Jonas’s carefully crafted rationale.
    The writing is good, the dialogue is believable - and Jonas’s inner monologues were so wry and funny.
    I rarely give five stars, but here we are.
    I am looking forward to the rest of this series. 👍🏻🩵🩵🥂

    Just finished this book and I’m still feeling the heart warming after effects of this romantic plot.

    Jonas is very controlling and self controlled, he lives by the rules, strictly. Until he finds himself rescuing Dean from a night in prison and he finds out that the best things in life can come when you loose yourself completely for love and for life.

    Dean is absolutely adorable, he is a fierce observer, an impressive caregiver and extremely sweet and optimistic about all aspects in life, besides his own value, as he suffers from a chronic inferiority complex because of serial mistreatment of his Dyslexia during his childhood.

    We have here an adorable plot about two valuable men with a crush on each other for years. They don’t feel the deserve one another, until they find it will apparently be impossible to resist the pull their love has on them.

    Another great set of characters from Lily Morton. I'm looking forward to reading more about this model agency, somehow I knew LM was going to write a full fledged series about models and their world. Seeing as alot of her previous work has mentions here and there about them. Glad to know we started from Dean, who is a rare find. And I'm just sad that he's fictional. Maybe I'd have liked the book more from his pov more as I want to be inside his pretty head all day long. But the requirement called for Jonas's as we saw how the world's most pragmatic man viewed him. They had great chemistry.
    Especially loved the bits with Jude as he's always been my favorite in the series and glad that amends were made in the end.
    This has all the necessary Lily Morton ingredients: snark, sarcasm, British humor, gorgeous men, opposite worlds, rich settings, nosy friends and warmth so much warmth.
    Loved reading this. And looking forward to the next book, I'm personally rooting for a Pip and Olivier pairing together but we'll see!!!
