4.2 out of 5 stars 410 ratings

SOMETHING LURKS IN THE SHADOWS

Returning home on the news of his grandfather’s missing plane, Nathan Briggs waits with his family for the outcome of the search and rescue mission. Only home isn’t the most hospitable place either. Father and son struggle to find common ground to unite them.

On hearing of his inheritance, the rift grows ever larger. Setting out to deal with grief and put space between himself and home, Nathan discovers his grandfather left him an unexpected legacy. Magic.

While he figures things out, confronting his father in the process, he and his best friend Ben play cat and mouse with something lurking in the shadows.

As things escalate, will Nathan embrace his legacy, or succumb to the dark?

Only magic can save them.

Fans of Stephanie Meyer, Cassandra Clare, Deborah Harkness or Lauren Kate who are looking for unforeseen heroes will want to read The Weaver, the first book of the Old Blood Saga.

I like fantasy books. But I like the ones with the witches and the sorcerers and the Light romance and All those things. I will normally avoid A vampire Or werewolf type story. I cannot wait For the next installment. I almost was slower catching on than he did. LOL Looking forward to what happens next.

I read this book in two days. It's a little slow in parts. That's why I gave it 4 stars. But overall, it's a very enjoyable book and series. I've read all four books in five days. The last book was really good. I can't wait for the fifth book to be released!

Good book, wasn’t sure what to expect, searching for a book to read while awaiting another one to come out with the next, would recommend to most, maybe not those who are caught up in the authenticity of the other realms of the worlds. Read it, you be the judge. Now, on to book 2.

Gave up about halfway through. Endless pointless description. Like reading someone's dull diary.

I wanted to slog through this, I like Nathan. BUT; it's crazy slow. I mean NOTHING happens. Not going to be able to finish it. The writing is amateur, at best.

There are slow books that are worth it, then there is this. Very amateur writing style with uninteresting characters.

An interesting tale, which bids fair to develop into an exciting adventure. Looking forward to following the story as it grows, curious to see in which directions it travels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Got me hooked - can't wait for Book 2

When I read urban fantasy I really want the author to take me on a journey and immerse me - Weaver did just that... a story that unfolds over time and across times, blending the modern urban world with just the right amount of magic and fantasy without any of the usual tired pastiches of vampires . There was rich detail for me to build a picture of the characters and their world. The pacing of the story sets you up nicely to really get to know the characters and I'm guessing that's important given this is book one of more to come.... I read this just last week while on holiday and couldn't put it down, once I got to the end I would have easily picked up Book 2 and carried on - I feel like there are loads of layers to the world the author is building up for me and so I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series.
