Hey Readers!

If you're reading this, chances are you're much like me: you love the behind-the-scenes details. You're the dork that watches the 6 hours of extras on the Blu-Ray, and reads up on your favourite authors. I approve!!

So, in the hopes of satisfying your inner dork, I'll share a little about myself here, and hey, maybe we've got more in common...like knowing every single line of Dirty Dancing by heart.

If you haven't guessed by the spelling, I'm Canadian. Try not to hold it against me. I don't have sled dogs that pull my butt to work each day, nor have I ever said aboot'. I do, however, have a serious love for chocolate, Bearflag white wine, and fuzzy socks. I also swear ... a lot. What can I say, I appreciate a well placed expletive ... or four.

I like words. Words make me happy. People, well ...

Totally kidding, I like people, people are great. People are the reason I write. It's the weird stuff we do, the things that us the same, the things that make us different, that's why I love people ... and chocolate. Did I mention chocolate?

I love to be scared. I love watching horror movies in the middle of the night in my dark bedroom by myself. I also love to read things that make my skin crawl and my eyes bounce around the room looking for some horrible something lurking in the corner.

My nearly 13 year old mutt, on the other hand, does not like being scared. Whimpers at the first crack of thunder.

The Witnessing of Matlyn Wren is my debut novel. Something I'm pretty proud of. I think I've written a story that not only asks a lot of questions, which are my favourite kind of book.

I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for coming to learn a little about me.

~Jen

This book deserves more than just 5 stars! This is an experience, a bucket list should include reading this! Having this book for a debut? I can't wait to read more of the author's stories!

This story will feel slow going in, but keep pushing, because in its pages lie a beautiful story of fate, lessons and Omens! Each page will deliver a poignant thought, loving gesture, wonderful or painful memory, a story unlike any other, and an ending that will definitely make you a fan!

This is the kind of story that you couldn't wait to see how it will end. But as you get halfway through, you wouldn't want it to end. This is the story that will stay with you after the last page has been flipped; the kind that will make you think and feel; and the kind of story that will break and warm your heart.

This book is a witnessing to Matlyn Wren's story, but you will also realize that you are not just witnessing her story, you have become part of the story .

I always love when I get to read a debut novel. Discovering a new author is always intriguing. I read The Witnessing of Matlyn Wren, by Jennifer Lynn January, in exchange for an honest review. When I signed up to review this book, I did not know who the author was or what the story was about. I was anxious to see how this blind date with a book would turn out.

It’s very hard to review this book without giving spoilers away. What I will tell you is that Matlyn and Baker have an awesome chemistry together. The author wrote a captivating story that will leave you on the edge of your seat! There is a paranormal twist to this story and I have to admit that the entire story of The Omens captivated me completely. Ingrid and Baker were fascinating characters and I loved the switch between chapters from past to present. I did struggle to connect with Matlyn at the beginning of the story. It took me a few chapters, but I finally connected with her. Baker was a different story. I connected with him from the moment he was introduced. His role in this story kept me at the edge of my seat and I could not wait to see what would happen next.

The supporting characters in this story were great. Good times are on the menu when these characters are around Matlyn. TWoMW was a different kind of reading journey for me. I’m happy that I got the chance to discover this author and her fascinating writing style. If you are looking for something different to read, I recommend The Witnessing of Matlyn Wren. This story was emotional and passionate.

I give, The Witnessing of Matlyn Wren, by Jennifer Lynn January, 4 intriguing, intense, everybody has a story to tell stars!

I bought this book because it was recommended for a good read. I can honestly say, once I started reading I couldn't put it down. It was different than any other book I've read and I've gone from harlequin romances all the way to Stephen King and lots in between. It has it all; romance, humor, etc. Congrats to Jen on her debut book. Looking forward to reading more from you.

Never in all my years of devouring books have been transported to the actual location more then this book! I felt like I was in New Orleans with whole gang! The characters jumped off the page, they were so well developed and complex. The love scenes were hotter then the New Orleans weather, a perfect read. VERY WELL DONE!

Received a copy in exchange for an HONEST Review

This book was described to me as Urban Fantasy, which it is, but it's more like Urban Erotic Fantasy. That's not my normal jam, but I liked it well enough. The author has a vast array of colorful characters and vividly captures what I think New Orleans must be like. (Never been there, but I've heard things lol) The premise of the story is pretty good. Beings known as Omens are bearing witness to important moments in the lives of regular people. There are Light and Dark Omens and are just as you could imagine. Light Omens witness the good happening to a deserving person, while Dark Omens witness, well Dark events in a person's life before they ultimately end.
Baker, a Dark Omen is witnessing Matlyn Wren, while Ingrid, a Light Omen is simultaneously witnessing her sister Parrish. It was neat to read these stories simultaneously and compare the differences.
Baker finds himself in a bit of a pickle when his jaded sensibilities are washed away and he develops an intense attraction to his latest charge...Matlyn.
Not a fan of erotic elements, but technically speaking, the writer has a good character development and the story progression was a bit confusing because it went back and forth through time. I do have to say that I was glad I got a chance to read this because it made me hop out of my YA comfort bubble. Change is a good thing!
All in all I give it a 4 star review and recommend it to 18yrs and up crowd for explicit material. Happy Reading!

The Witnessing of Matlyn Wren by Jennifer January is a standalone contemporary romance with paranormal elements.

It was an interesting read and not your typical paranormal romance story. The characters are varied with flaws and fractures and it was great to see Matlyn own her bisexual status. I really enjoyed the take on Dark and Light Omens as entities and would love to explore these guys further.

This was the first book I've read of Jennifer January's and her imagination is extensive as proof with this world she has created. It took me a while to adapt to the writing style but I'd be keen to check out another book of hers in the future.

I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
