There You Are: An M/M Hurt/Comfort Romance (Wild and Precious Book 2) Kindle Edition
Bisexual musician Cody is a free spirit, easygoing and unattached. On a cross-country trip he befriends young runaway Sandy and gets him safely to his uncle Phineas. Beautiful Phineas turns Cody’s life upside down, and Cody learns he's not as unattached as he aspires to be.
Ever since his longtime lover Allen died, Phineas has lived a circumscribed life. A former fierce drag queen now working in a bookstore, Phineas never expected his nephew to land on his doorstep, much less to find love again. I don't want to give too much away with this review. I will say this is such an eye opening book and so well put together!! It touches on sensitive subjects and you are drawn to these characters as you read them!! If you haven't read this book already, not sure what you're waiting for, go read it now!

This is a delightful story, and I'm so glad I read it. I loved the first book of the series, and I recall thinking that I wanted Cody to get his own happy ending. I wasn't disappointed!
There's not a lot of drama, tension, or angst here. This is pretty much a gooey, sweet love story, start to finish. Short enough to read in an afternoon, this one's perfect for a cozy, rainy day read.

Looking for a story with a huge heart and depth? This book has enough for one double the length. There You Are is intelligent, warm hearted and very well written. I highly recommend it.
- Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words
If you have read book 1 in CJane Elliot's Wild and Precious series (aptly named Wild and Precious which we didn't review, but I recommend). Wild and Precious is your straight man figuring out a bit later in life that he isn't exactly straight. In contrast, There You Are fits more into the finding love when you least expect it trope. While you don't have to read book one to enjoy book two, you will miss a great story and more importantly getting to know our main character, Cody.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2020This is a sweet story. Phineas is a former drag queen with a still broken heart after the death of his long term partner four years before. He has to adjust to a new role though when his young nephew turns 18 and leaves home to live with him. Not only does his nephew Sandy turn his orderly life upside down, so does the man who befriended him on the train ride to Portland. Cody is stopping in Portland to play guitar in a band. This is just the most recent stop on his wanderlust travels. Whether he wants to admit it or not, Cody tends to run away from his feelings. The characters in this story were so well written. I loved it when Phineas decided he needed to let his drag queen persona out again. The world needs more drag queens! It was a fun quick read with lots of feels! HEA included.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2020Great read. I liked the storyline in this story. It was interesting and kept me wondering what would happen next. You get great characters in this story they are fun and exciting. Great from start to finish.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2018I was more interested in this book in the series because the first seemed to be a love triangle which I dislike and this one had a train trip which I love.
I love the train and the friendship that Cody and Sandy strike up that leads Cody to Phin.
My favorite aspects of the book are watching Phin come into himself again in so many ways. I like Cody and Phin together and love the cast.
Cody is more simply put together and knee jerk in terms of his actions and that makes this book less than it could be.
Still, a nice romance.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2015i loved There You Are ! The character development and the story were so well done! I will be rereading this book! Love and passion!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2020I received an advanced copy of this book via the author and am writing this review voluntarily. All views and opinions are my own.
I was delighted to finally find myself with a CJane Elliott book in my hands, as she’s been an author I’ve wanted to sample for quite some time now. And There You Are was probably the perfect choice to introduce me to this author and her lovely words. It’s a short, sweet, and tasty morsel that made for a marvelous afternoon read.
I fell so hard for Cody, especially when he took eighteen-year-old Sandy under his wing during their cross-country train ride. I don’t know why, but there’s just something about a person who seems one way on the outside, but they’re really softer and sweeter and more genuine than you could ever imagine once you get to know them. And that is Cody to a tee. He has tattoos, plays in a band, and has no interest in staying anywhere long enough to grow roots. But when he sees nervous Sandy about to hop a train by himself, Cody’s true nature comes out, and he takes it upon himself to see the boy safely into his uncle’s arms on the other side of the country.
To say I fell for Phineas as well would be an understatement. Especially once Phanny, Phineas’ inner drag queen diva extraordinaire, comes out to play. Phinny was such a delightful character. Well-rounded and true-to-himself. Watching him finally find the closure he’s needed so badly following the death of his life partner was bittersweet and beautiful. The grieving process was handled with care by the author, and it didn’t feel rushed or unrealistic when Phineas said his final goodbyes and found solace in the arms of Cody.
I would recommend this book to all lovers of MM romance, but especially those who seek diversity in their reads. I adore the Phineas/Phanny dynamic and how the author accomplishes a normalization that is far too infrequently seen for characters like this. Often, drag queens are side characters used to “spice” things up rather than holding the spotlight they absolutely deserve. Seeing a romance with a lead who embraces his/her inner diva with such outward exuberance was just downright glorious. More of this, please!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2020This book features an eclectic group of people. In the forefront are Sandy, Cody, and Phineas. Life brought them together in a series of events. One was running away, one was moving towards something, and one was running away under the guise of running towards something. Fate played its hand, and these three gentlemen were going to make a profound mark on each other’s lives, and they had no idea (on the day they met).
I loved the premise of this book. It felt unique to me. With so many good books out there, it’s refreshing to come upon one that stops you in your tracks and has you taking notice. That’s how this book felt to me.
The characters were so engaging - except for Sandy’s parents. They were a tragedy. Every character felt well thought out, and I could picture them easily. I like CJane Elliott’s style of telling a story. The words paint a picture, and the picture tells a story. I got so drawn in I was surprised to see it ended. I’m always shocked when I’m enthralled straight through a book, because I have a habit of drawing a good book out to avoid it ending. This story distracted me to the point habits didn't exist. Nothing existed but Cody, Phinney, Sandy, and the others.
This is book two in the series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. Book one is as good as this one, so I recommend just reading the entire series. The books are the perfect length. So, grab a blanket, find a comfy seat, and enjoy this book.
