I absolutely LOVED this book and the ENTIRE series!
This was the first series I ever read , since I started reading again (back in 2020) .
I’m so glad I stumbled upon it!
Jesse aka “The Lord “ was a perfectly damaged hero who was OTT jealous & possessive of the MFC,Ava.
Ava was the perfect amount of calm & poised to Jesse’s consuming personality.
My ratings are for the entire series as a whole.
It’s BY FAR, my most LOVED series of ALL TIME to date! I would rate it higher if I could.
Jesse turns out to be a very complex character, with so much trauma that unfolds through the books.
The only time I felt it dragged a bit was with the second book. However, it wasn’t enough to stop me from reading
It’s a SWEEPING, EPIC story that covers their lives. The ups and downs, tragedies, funny moments, dating, breakups to marriage & children, as well as some losses along the way. They learn to navigate life together, and I was there for it!
This series is an older one, but is honestly one of my top reads EVER. I’ve re-read and listened to all the books several times. It’s a go to read for me.
I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did.
I think it should be talked about much more than it is. Very underrated!
There’s also a 3 book series (recently released) that tells the entire story from Jesse’s POV.
I enjoyed those as well.
Don’t miss out on this sweeping, epic love story!

OK, so I broke my own rule to hold off and read series until final book has been released. After reading many good reviews and everybody raving about Jesse I just succumbed to my own craving to get to know Jesse and be swept away by his and Ava's story...

Book 2 has been released and my recommendation is to read them as a set and thus I will review as a set - brace yourself for an epic story!

Jesse Ward (age TBA, 35-45 years approx./playboy-businessman/dark blond hair/green eyes/6'3") needs 10 rooms decorated at a country estate, the Manor. He has specifically requested Ava O'Shea (26 years/interior designer/dark brown hair/dark brown eyes/just out of a 4 year relationship) though she has to prior knowledge of him... There! That's the tone of this series right there - secrets, secrets and more secrets... Their first meeting is electric and the story goes from there.

Wow! Jesse! He is just what I needed. In fact he is everything I needed! But it took me a while to get into him. The first time he started barking orders "Mouth!" I felt like - Wow, that does not make him an alpha. As it turns out Jesse and I just need a little more time to connect and once we did I was on cloud nine (sigh!) He truly is all pure, sexy, hot, dominant alpha male, so intense, possessive, compulsive, a playboy a man full of secrets...

For Ava Jesse was:
"...the epitome of bad boy, if slightly older. He's hazardous, enigmatic and completely addictive..."
"...intense, quite volatile, incredibly self-assured and extremely rich..."

Ava is everything that Jesses needed and everything we needed to keep the story going. She stood up to him, she succumbed to him, she riled him, she created more drama and she kept the mystery going by NOT demanding answers. I almost tore my hair out in despair for her NOT negotiating Sarah out of the picture (no ultimatum needed!). It would have been so simple, but then again we probably need the wicked Sarah stirring, stirring throughout this series.

For Jesse Ava was an obsession, pure and simple:
"...I can't answer that, Ava, because I've never wanted anything enough to pursue it so relentlessly. Not like I wanted you..."

I'd also like to extend my sincere thanks for introducing us to all that is sex with Jesse (or f~s depending on the mood) -
Reminder f~s, Sleepy sex, Make friends sex, Shower f~s, Hangover sex, Catching up sex, Sense f~s, Seeing stars f~s, Apology f~s, Possessive f~s, Retribution f~s, Sleepy celebration sex, and... Truth f~s. The last one courtesy Ava.

My only grievance would that these books need some more editing, for ME not enough to deduct any points off my rating. But since I feel strongly that this series is making history, it's only to its benefit for me to point it out: a) At some point I think writing was shifted from past tense to present progressive, but lots of "stood/sat needs" still need fixing. b) Typos, misspellings here and there (bought misspelled as brought throughout book 1?).

Back to the positives:
This series is filled with covert pasts and hidden agendas! It's truly a wild, bumpy and at times emotional ride loaded with undiluted lust and an endless array of scorching sex. So far 2 books, almost 1,000 pages, hours upon hours that for me can only described as elated/euphoric angst - I was glued to the pages needing to know what would happen next, yet NOT wanting the books to end - ever! I am so thankful Ms. Malpas!

As I come down from all that is "Central Jesse Cloud Nine" I find myself staring into space. What an a.m.a.z.i.n.g. read! I think I am going to need some sense knocked back into me - seriously! Jesse. Jesse! JESSE! JESSSEEEE! Ugh, actually what I need is for book 3 to be released soon, more like real soon! Ms. Malpas! MS. MALPAS! Three... Two... ONE... ZEROOO!!!

Well finally, finally, finally I can post a review on this book! Got it yesterday and finished it today. And before I start I want to thank the people with the negative reviews because that is the whole reason I brought it. You're reviews were more detailed and elaborate than the positive ones.

Anyways though, I don't know if this is the going to the first detailed, positive review on this book, but here is my two cents:

Ava is apparently twenty six, but I am under the impression she is also lying about her age. I think she is ten years younger because she acts as such. I know the authors of erotica books like to write detailed descriptions about the so called hot, sexy guy and all. But with this writing and Ava's thoughts, it just came off as fan girlish to me.

And I think Ava is full of excuses. Okay sure lets blame Jesse for being abusive and what not. In all honestly i disagree. Now one review had mentioned he broke a guy's nose and at the time i thought it was unjustified. But I read that scene and the guy was cursing at her from the gecko and threatened her so Jesse kicking his butt was justified in my opinion. Though I must admit what really annoyed me with this whole book was when Ava was banging on the door and Kate did not answer and when she finally comes out and realizes she is blocking traffic, she is not in a hurry about it. How annoying! Yeah that really peeved me.

But anyways Ava yeah, she is full of excuses when it comes to Jesse which is why I think she is sixteen not twenty six. Always just giving in because he is so cute and fine and gorgeous and oh my god! He has a huge D!

Okay child we get it. You're a weak sex craving hound who never got to see enough boy band concerts so when you meet a cute guy he is the sex and you just can't stay away. Cue the eye-roll.

I can't really blame Jesse like the other reviews do. Yes he is this borderline, abusive jerk who calls her a million times a day and flings her over his shoulder and tells her what to wear and not to curse. But guess what? She's taking it laying down. Her excuse? HE'S JUST SO EFFIN CUTE OH MY GOD!!!!

Yeah no sorry I'm not feeling sorry for her. She can call the police, she can get a restraining order and actually tell him to back the heck off, but she doesn't. And that is why Kate does what she does throughout the book and even at the end. Nobody is taking Ava seriously because they all see how easily influenced she is. So why bother? I wouldn't waste my time if my friend was doing that.

And what Jesse said at the end about her being a tease I was like THANK YOU!!! Because she! acting like his girlfriend one minute and then hating him the next for any and every reason. Like the bar scene when Matt is first introduced. Okay so Jesse actually does go overboard right there. And then what happens? They talk outside and come back in and act all couple like. Let me buy you and your friends drinks and such. Oh lets go dance and bump and grind.

Tease much.

OH OH OH!!!! And he gives her space! Right? Four days?

OH MY GOD YOU ABANDON ME FOR FOUR DAYS WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!!!!

BEE! Did you just not ask for space? She finally gets space to think and she thinks he up and left her. Okay. Saying she never got a chance to think. Girl bye!

And also she is immature. Another example of her being sixteen, she wants to rebel when Jesse wants her to do something. Sure okay buy a dress you have to wiggle in just to tick him off, get drunk off your butt just to tick him off. Because communication is so overrated.

And that whole stalking thing at the club. Yeah that's not stalking. The bouncers are already there and he told them to watch her. In the Breathless Trilogy by Maya Banks that happens too on the girls night out in all three books.

But overall I enjoyed this book, it was laughable when it shouldn't have been in some parts. And I don't know I think because I read the reviews and knew what to expect when the paperback came out, I just was not OMG SHE IS BEING ABUSED!!!!

Because I didn't really see it.

I read this book and was like oh that's when the countdown starts, that's when she asks about his age, that's when he gets on her about her cursing and that is when he hides her pills.

The age thing was funny to me. She could have pressed harder, but didn't. And what really annoys me about her is that she jumps to conclusions. Jumps to them and then runs with it.

Ugh! BUT! I do enjoy this book! I eagerly await book two on November 26th, Curse being a paperback reader but at least I am getting the edited version with the grammatical corrections and what not.

This story is set round London and it is written by a FAB-U-LUSH British indie Author who keeps it real by keeping British slang and words, making it true to its roots, right for the story and above all authentic!! For our non-British audience don't forget Google is our friend for words we may not have in our daily vocabulary!

The writing is spot on and flawless, it had me hooked from page one and I immediately knew I had a gem of a story in my hands. This Man is the first book by Jodi Malpas (first in a trilogy), but you wouldn't know it. It's pure class and right up there in my top reads for the year so far.

This Man is not only SEXY; it has a great story. It is hilarious at times, sarcastically funny at others; it has a sweet, intelligent and relatable heroine; Ava and yes our very own mysterious, domineering gorgeously hot Jesse Ward; who actually is slightly crazy too...*sigh*....

Ava is an interior designer who is sent to `The Mansion' where she has been requested by the owner for a project. She is not happy about it and dreading meeting this pompous and batty `Lord of the Manor'. So yeah, she's not expecting much and just wants it done and dusted. Enter Jesse Ward...batty?...pompous? No not so much; more like cocky, domineering and oh so sexy. The attraction is instant and the build-up is one of the best I have read in a long while.

Jesse and Ava have a powerful chemistry which I felt right from the beginning and the sex factor is off the charts passionate, however this Author got the balance of story and yumminess spot on! Their relationship is very much like an assault course of obstacles and a fast and crazy ride you kind of want to get off at times but know you wouldn't possibly want to miss the thrill of. It gave me tingles and yeah I came over all unnecessary...a lot! Jessie sure knows how to stalk...umm I mean pursue the object of his attention and affection! But then again, he is a man in control, he knows what he wants and when he, in this case surprisingly, finds it he is like a dog with a bone (yeah kind of literally). But oh my...his overwhelming need to protect, to keep safe, to love what he deems his...took my breath away at times. My heart also broke for him...but I am not going to say why, just that vulnerability in a strong man like this makes me all teary!

Don't get me wrong this guy is a complete arse at times, infuriatingly so...but isn't that what we love from our fictional (that word should be banned) characters?! There were also a few high 5's or fist bumps (whatever is cool right now, don't want to show my age here lol) between Ava and me as their story unfolded because she gave right back at times, good girl!!

It is so easy yet again here to spoil a great story so I didn't want to give too much away, there's quite a few twists and revelations, a couple are predictable yet most are not. The whole "how old are you?" became frustrating to the point where even I was shouting it at my kindle, (I may have actually sent a message to the Author asking her that very question...may have done...not confirming that.. (*hanging my head in shame*).

Now, what do we dread more than anything when we hear the word Trilogy....yeah we think cliff-hanger don't we. So this has one.....but it is not bad...not much. The second book in this trilogy; Beneath This Man is set to be released around or after Christmas, no date set, but I know I for one will be picking that one up the minute it gets released! Cannot wait.

I read this years ago and have just completed another re-read realizing I never reviewed it!
This is one of my all time favourite series ever! I re-read it often. Jesse Ward is the ultimate alpha possessive book boyfriend. I love him more very time I read. This book contains serious BDSM so if that’s not for you then I suggest you don’t read. However, it is one of the best bdsm romance books ever so you’ll be missing out.

I love the description of London, being alondoner it makes it very real to have places refered to and I have to say that Ava is my heroine. She is fabulous! Her way of thinking so paused not altering no temper... But it has to be her being so naive to certain things, it gives her a Bridget Jones feeling.
The story what can I say? Lovely and I am sure more that one can relate to certain things in this book.
