The breathtaking new thriller from the author of the Richard and Judy bestseller NOW YOU SEE HER
____________________________
When a body is pulled out of an office fire, three women are first in line for questioning.
All of them have reasons for wanting revenge against the company’s CEO.
It could be Laura, who has returned to work to find that her maternity cover isn’t leaving. The CEO insists he’s doing what’s best for the company. Laura isn’t convinced he’s telling the truth.
Or there’s Mia. Brought in as temporary cover for Laura, she has quickly made herself indispensable – and popular with her colleagues. But if people knew why she was so desperate to keep her job, they might not welcome her so freely.
Then there’s Janie, wife to the CEO, who gave up her courtroom career to support her husband and his business. She has her own secret to protect – and will go to any length to keep it safe.
They never thought it would come to this.

About the author

Thank you for visiting my author page.
My first book published with Century, NOW YOU SEE HER, came out in July 2018. It became a Sunday Times Bestseller and a Richard and Judy book club pick, and in 2021 I received a silver Nielsen bestseller award for selling over 250,000 copies.
Since then I have published five more novels: COME BACK FOR ME, THREE PERFECT LIARS, THE WHISPERS, THE OTHER GUEST and THE LAST RESORT.
Look out for my next novel, SOMEONE IS LYING which will be out in spring 2024. And I am currently writing my eighth book ready for 2026.
Many of my books are set along the south coast of England, you may recognise some of the destinations. I live by the sea in Bournemouth and love this area with its beautiful spots that make perfect inspiration for the crime thrillers I write. I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I do writing them!

- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLaura has returned to work at Morris and Wood after her maternity leave, only to discover that the woman she brought in to cover for her isn’t planning on going anywhere. Despite her close relationship with the agency’s powerful CEO, Harry Wood, she feels sidelined—and outmaneuvered—as she struggles to balance the twin demands of work and motherhood.
Mia was only supposed to be a temporary hire at Morris and Wood, but she’s managed to make herself indispensable to everyone. Everyone, that is, except Laura. If people only knew why she was so desperate to keep her job, they might not want her to stay.
Janie gave up everything to support her husband and the successful agency he runs. But she has her own dark secret to protect…and will go to any lengths to keep it safe.
My Thoughts: As I followed along with the alternating narratives in Three Perfect Liars, I was drawn in by each of the women. I could easily see each point of view, so that I knew I would have to choose one of them by the end of the story.Or were they all equally compelling?
The story also takes us to occasional interviews with investigators, who are trying to determine the cause of a massive fire that takes out the company at the center of the tale. Back and forth we go as the timeline carries us along for a ride.
As much as I wanted to find the answers to each woman’s secrets, the story plodded along with few hints until we approached the final denouement. Who would come out the winner, or would there be none? Who started the fire and whose body was discovered? 4.5 stars.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGreat characters. The author has done a great job of building the personalities of the three woman. I had figured out the ending early in the book but that did not deter me from enjoying the story. I did not skip pages, like I normally do and even though the traits of the woman surfaced I did not find them annoying. Laura.s whining, Janie’s sacrificing and Mia’s determination were all just part of a good story. Ending was a little abrupt, but did not leave you feeling cheated. Good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2020Format: KindleThree women, one man, and then a fire that burned down the entire building two of the women work in.
We meet Laura, Mia, and Janie.
Laura had a high profile position and even worked on her advertising campaign while she was on maternity leave. When she returns, she finds Mia has taken over the entire campaign and her desk.
Mia is a temp now turned permanent and loved by the office staff and her boss. Mia is doing a marvelous job on the campaign that Laura was in charge of, but she keeps something secret about why she needed and wanted this job.
She doesn’t tell anyone about her personal life or where she lives because she lies about that.
Janie is the wife of the owner of the company where Laura and Mia work, unhappy in her marriage, and has something from her past she would like to forget.
The building where Laura and Mia work was a building no one wanted in the city before it was even built. When it burns down with one casualty, was it arson or just an accident?
There is jealousy, hatred, and a sinister undertone from the opening page…all good traits for a thriller.
You will be on the edge of your seat every time you see Laura and Mia together battling things out in their minds and wondering just what could really be the reason for this tension between the two women. Sure it is work, but there seems to be something else.
And then the party at Harry's happened - it got loud as Laura let loose on Mia and called her a liar.
THREE PERFECT LIARS was quite tense and oh so good.
If you enjoy not knowing what is really going on with the characters because you know something is….
….if you enjoy knowing one of the characters is the biggest fake and troublemaker and everyone is not seeing it….
….if you enjoy knowing the characters don't seem to be who they really are and know most are hiding something, telling lies, and have secrets, then this book will check all the boxes. 5/5
This book was given to me by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Edge of your seat thriller!
I hadn't read anything by this author before but will certainly be looking out for more titles. I liked the way in which she juxtaposed the interviews by the detective with the 'suspects' with their inner monologues, individual stories and their differing perceptions of events. It is clear that the author has a great insight into corporate life and of the many shenanigans that go on...though in 'real life' not too many murders I hope...Good casting; characterization and plot. Set in Bournemouth a town that I know well akin with the descriptions I had a strong sense of place...A recommended thriller of a read with some sensitively handled themes...

4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping
Another excellent novel by Heidi Perks who up until last week I had never read but today just starting my fourth book by her. Very good plot, great characters and so well written.
A fire breaks out at the offices of advertising agency Morris & Wood. The fire is started on purpose by an unknown person but not everything went to plan because a body is pulled from the flames. The story is told going back and forth in time interspersed with police interviews following the fire. We gradually build up a picture of each character / suspect and possible motives. One of the women Laura has recently returned back to work following maternity leave only to find that the temp Mia who was taken on to cover is now permanent and taken over the company’s biggest client. The client was previously Laura's responsibility and she becomes convinced it was always Mia's plan to take over once she was on leave.
Mia has her own secret’s and is very guarded about her families existence. She actually looks after her mother and sister and is the sole earner. On the face of it Mia is a nice person and gets on well with the other staff and is well thought of by the management.
The third perfect liar is Janie Wood, former barrister and wife of the companies CEO Harry Wood. While Janie is not so prominent in the book she has her own secrets and another potential suspect.
This is a cleverly written novel that is a definite page turner and kept me gripped throughout. Lots of twists and full of suspense resulting in another excellent read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many plot holes
Started well but became a bit muddled towards the end. Some of the characters' behaviour was implausible and several holes in the story should have been addressed.
