Three Rivers: A chilling Norfolk Broads crime thriller (DI Tanner Norfolk Broads Murder Mystery Series Book 4) Kindle Edition
“Absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t put the book down. Read it in a day.” Mrs EE Porter, Amazon.co.uk
A body caught on the end of a mast, another skewered by a rhond hook, and a chain of evidence Tanner cannot accept.
As a twisting gale howls over Barton Broad, DS Jenny Evans joins a handsome old friend to help rescue the crew of an overturned boat. But when they discover a body, snagged on the end of the mast, one murder soon follows another, leaving DI John Tanner with a race against time, desperate to prove that the most obvious suspect isn’t who everyone seems to think it is.
Set within the mysterious beauty of the Norfolk Broads, this fast-paced British detective series is a dark cozy Norfolk murder mystery with a slice of humour and a touch of romance, one that will have you guessing until the very end, when the last shocking twist is finally revealed.
Three Rivers is a totally addictive gripping crime thriller, the fourth in a chilling series of serial killer books, ones which will rapidly convert followers of L J Ross, Faith Martin, Joy Ellis, Damien Boyd, J M Dalgliesh, and Elly Griffiths into David Blake devotees.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2020I enjoyed the story but, IMO, the author made Jenny into an idiot through most of the book. As a police officer, she wouldn't have made the mistakes and idiotic decisions the author had her make. She spent a good part of the book throwing temper tantrums. I almost didn't finish the book.. Hint to the author: women read your books and we like strong intelligent female main characters, not perfect, but certainly not this dumb. Just my two shekels, others' mileage may vary.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2023The books in the series just keep getting better and better. You think how can they but the do. I finished the book in one day, couldn’t put it down
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020It's actually a good mystery with interesting surprises. It's some between mystery/romance. Leaning towards mystery first and foremost.
The characters are well written and I would delighted to read the next book in this s!

5.0 out of 5 stars An uncomplicated police thriller
I don't normally read crime thrillers but I was attracted to “Three Rivers” as it was set in the Norfolk Broads where I once lived. I don't know why but I was expecting to read some sort of dark and mysterious tale shrouded in mist. But this novel was nothing like that, in fact I was pleasantly surprised to find that I liked it.
The plot is quite straight forward and moves along at a cracking pace. The author makes it easy to understand and explains everything clearly as the book progresses and doesn't add too many characters all at once to make things complicated. It goes into depth about police procedure, office politics and character rivalry, and there is a little romance too. David Blake throws in red herrings but I won't spoil it for you!
It is a light and uncomplicated read, perfect for summer holidays. Sometimes I just don't feel like reading heavy philosophical theories and just want a little fun; entertainment from books is important too, just as much as education, and this book was merriment and easy pleasure. One point, this book is the fourth book in the series: it would be better if you read the other three in sequence first, but that is just a small thing, you could enjoy this book just as much if you read it first, as I did. I would not not put this detective book in the “Nordic Noir” genre, but I think that David Blake might well start up a “Norfolk Noir” genre with this series.

3.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE THE HEROINE
Enjoying this book fully was hopeless from the get-go. The author made it impossible to feel any empathy whatsoever for Jenny, a truly shrewish, immature, reckless, unprofessional, and whingeing heroine if ever there was one. True to form, she even manages to cheapen a marriage proposal. Indeed, Tanner, her colleagues, the reading audience, and the next book in the series would be far better off without Jenny in the picture.

4.0 out of 5 stars Whom to trust?
This is a four star rating from me for this generally well written murder mystery/police procedural book. From the first novel method of discovery of a body to the final reveal and motives was a gripping read. This is a story about trust - who to and why? Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Dialogue Cardboard Characters
Made it almost to page 90 before giving up. The characters don't seem to have much of a grasp on their jobs and their conversations with each other are off-putting and clumsily written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Needs a sailing instructor
Brilliant story except the Prologue and the plot do not appear to match at the end. Sailing terminology in this and others lack something and it is very unlikely that you would attempt the Broads to the Isle of Wight at age 17 in your parents' Wayfarer at any time of year.
It is acknowledged that someone did foolishly cross the North Sea from Scotland at one time in the 60's sailing a Wayfarer it is not what the craft in question is designed for and would be unsafe to say the least.
Yes I have sailed a bit in different parts of the world on many different craft, am an instructor and commercial skipper.
