    This is not a BWWM romance. This is not a story about a black, African American woman. This is a story about a woman who happened to have brown skin.

    Please don't misunderstand my complaint. I have no problem with a white author writing BWWM romance books. It's a commonly known truth that many "so-called" black authors in this genre are, in reality, white. What I have a problem with is when an author tells the reader our lead female is black and then nothing else is said. We learn nothing more about her character, her daily interactions, her struggle. As a Black woman myself, while I know that not all black women are the same or have the same background, there are threads of commonality we all share. Learning about our lives if an author doesn't have personal experience is a necessity- especially if you intend to tell your stories with our reality. Unfortunately, the author is probably thinking, "Oh, this is easy and I'll sell more books!" So she sprinkles in a couple of adjectives and BINGO! We got ourselves a new BWWM!

    No. No, you don't. SMH.

    If an author intends to write competently in this genre, where the majority of the readers are members of the race you're attempting to depict, PLEASE take the time to really learn about us and our story! Make some black friends and get to know them well. Then, come back and rethink this story. Without this truthful effort on your part, all your BW characters will be flat and joyless - cheap counterfeits.

    Loved it! A new author for me so slightly dubious, but it was a great introduction to the series and author. Will definitely be getting more of both! Jace, a tiger shifter, is a mercenary working for Nightfair, they help keep shifters safe from discovery. On enforced leave he does a favour for his longstanding friend and co worker Caleb and picks up Caleb's sister Eileen.
    Eileen is also a tiger shifter and she has been having problems with a pack member that she can't discuss with other family members.
    In all a great first book of a series, had me hooked from the start, struggled to put it down, to get some sleep!!
