To Tame a Savage Heart (Rogues and Gentlemen Book 7) Kindle Edition

To Tame a Savage Heart
ROGUES & GENTLEMEN: BOOK SEVEN

Lucretia ‘Crecy’ Holbrook has a secret, a secret she has kept for many years.
Even her dearest confidante and sister, Belle, would not understand what Crecy is prepared to do, the risks she is prepared to take, to get her heart’s desire.

For Crecy is not like the other smiling débutantes; she despises poetry, thinks dancing a chore and is quite prepared to throw something at the next fool to compare her to Aphrodite.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “A wonderful, masculine, Cinderella story.” ~ Amazon customer review

Far more likely to return from a country walk with a badger’s skull and some bloody, injured creature than a posy of wildflowers, Crecy is drawn to the dark, the damaged, and the unlovable. Her heart longs for one man alone, one with a wounded soul, one so dreadfully damaged that even her tender care might not be enough to save him.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Great book! What a dark tale of obsessive behavior and obsession!” ~ Amazon customer review

Viscount Demorte is everything she dreams of.
With a reputation that covers blackmail, murder and madness, cruelly handsome Lord Gabriel Greyston, Viscount Demorte, is far more dangerous than any wounded dog, and his bite … just might leave Crecy ruined beyond repair.

The seventh book of the acclaimed Rogues & Gentlemen historical romance series from Emma V Leech, the multi-award-winning Amazon Top 10 romance writer. Author of fan favourites such as Flaming June and Last Man in London, both listed in the 20 'Romance Reads You Can't Miss' in the Amazon Kindle Storyteller Awards 2018.

**** Warning: This book contains all manner of strong wills and Regency sensibilities, not detracting from the presence of a descriptive sexual encounter or two. We are very pleased, however, to highlight that this book - and series - is in no way verging on erotica. ****

The Rogues & Gentlemen series can be enjoyed as stand-alone novels or as part of the wider series. If the full series appeals, the suggested – but by no means essential - reading order would be:

• Book 1: The Rogue
• Book 2: The Earl's Temptation
• Book 3: Scandal's Daughter
• Book 4: The Devil May Care
• Book 5: Nearly Ruining Mr Russell
• Book 5.5: Winter's Wild Melody
• Book 6: One Wicked Winter
• Book 7: To Tame a Savage Heart
• Book 8: Persuading Patience
• Book 9: The Last Man in London
• Book 10: Flaming June
• Book 11: Charity and The Devil
• Book 12: A Slight Indiscretion
• Book 13: The Corinthian Duke
• Book 14: The Blackest of Hearts
• Book 15 Duke and Duplicity
• Book 16 The Scent of Scandal
• Book 16.5 The Christmas Rose
• Book 17 Melting Miss Wynter
• Book 17.5 The Winter Bride, a Rogues & Gentlemen Novella

Happy reading! And please do leave a review if you can – it would mean the world to hear what you enjoyed most about the book.

This was more than a simple historical romance. The leads are so well developed. They are both so odd they have to be together. The quirky openness of the heroine is the perfect foil for the broken brooding hero. My heart broke and rejoiced for them. It was a beautiful book. Their love story was so gut wrenching and heart warming. I’m in awe.

The best so far, while I have really enjoyed all of the book’s so far this one was the most intriguing to me. Crest & Gabriel were a very different couple and so was how the plot was handled. Well done!

This Story was Absolutely Wonderful. I believe this book was my favorite thus far in the series.

Lucretia (Crecy) & Gabriel were wonderful characters.

I am looking forward to reading August & Patience's story in the next book in this series.

Granted this will not fall into the warm and fuzzy category of romance stories, but it touched me to my very soul.

I have members of my family that have OCD, not to the extent of our H, but I admired the patience our h showed him from the time she was 12. It is hard to understand fully what goes through the head of someone with this affliction. I know it is hard for me to understand why they can't stop.

This is a journey of a damage H and how he was shaped way into adult hood from the experiences he went through because of the actions of his parents. I truly couldn't stop reading, because my heart ached for him to accept the love the h provided.

There is very mild lovemaking outside of marriage - rated 3 out of 5 if that. Our h is such a kind, patient young women that I admired her courage more and more as the story progressed. I know some reviewer's didn't feel the H grew, but I can't believe they read the whole story. His actions at the end showed such growth and love it made my heart swell.

There is an epilogue 6 years in the future that was the cherry onto of the cake - oh how I loved it. We get HEA, romance, no cliffhanger and no cheating. This is more on the dark side of a romance story, so be warned. I found it spoke to me of what love and patience can do for a relationship and a damaged soul. (ljb)

Crecy is a bold heroine, that probably isn't historically accurate, but she's fun to read. She's matter-of-fact and curious and knows what she likes. Her boldness of speech adds to the banter she has with Gabriel. And Gabriel, how interesting to see him in a different light after he was the "villain" in the previous book. I enjoyed that he wasn't a true villain and just had some daddy issues that needed a strong woman to help him overcome. These two really have a sweet, loving relationship. I really enjoyed reading this book.

I love an epilogue and this book had a really cute one!

There is some sexual content. It's not the most descriptive, but it is there and could be offensive to some readers.

Really liked the heroine in this story. She was strong and assertive. Hero was very traumatized from his childhood and had to deal with anger, OCD and doubts. Heroine dealt with his problems better than I would have. Minimal romantic episodes.

I admit to being extremely disappointed with this book. Although the female character seemed very interesting in the previous book, all of the interests and things that made her standout seem to have been leached from her character in this book. Barely mentioned is her interest in the bizarre and macabre, and her instant knowledge of everything regarding the hero was rather dull and predictable. I felt that the story would have benefited from a different set up. Perhaps if the two characters had met during their childhood more than once, or if the male character had returned her letters at least a few times, this instant intuitive knowledge would have made much more sense. Or perhaps if the heroine had some degree of ESP, it would have added some complexity and also fit her personality type. As it is, she just seems way too much of a Mary Sue to enjoy significantly.

Yes, another wonderful story dealing with someone who suffers from some form of autism. This time, it was obsessive compulsive disorder, OCD, complicated by a childhood of abuse, both parents' suicides, and then neglect, resulting in feeling haunted by his abuser. The author handled it very well, I thought. And yes, Gabriel and Lucretia's story is every bit as good as Henry and Isabella's. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 3, 2020
Now I understand what all the fuss about this series is. Emma Leech is a fantastic writer and a very strong story teller. I particularly enjoyed this story and the one before it for portraying so well the weaknesses that can plague a man. I enjoyed Crecy” character and her dogged pursuit of the man she had chosen. The unconventional events of her affair with Gabriel was only too real as love is not always so perfect, neither does it always follow a particular formula. The story touched on deep issues relating to mental health and it’s potential devastating effects but with the happy resolution, which though not always true in real life, gives hope to anyone struggling with these issues. A truly heartwarming story.

Brilliant story and as usual Emma has brought to life through her book amazing characters. I could not put the book down as I wanted so much to see how Crecy was to break through the barriers of Gabriel a much damaged man. This books pulls at your heart in so many ways and brought tears to my eyes in many occasions, some sad ones but some happy ones too, especially the dinner service scene in the épilogue. Thank you Emma for another gem.

I could not put this book down! From every minuscule idiosyncrasy, Gabriel is scrutinised by Crecy and she does not find him lacking. A misunderstood character who is finally given his chance to shine and allowed to heal.

4.0 out of 5 stars A complex hero - well done!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 24, 2020
I do like it when the hero has lots of complex layers such as Gabriel, with his dark, mysterious reputation. Crecy realises that he is so similar to a frightened, wounded animal who snarls and bites if someone approaches them and is determined to heal and take him. After all she has loved him since she was 12 years old.
Gabriel's obsessive behaviour is a challenge and so is the voice of his father inside his head, with the demands he made of a terrified 10 year old boy before he shot himself in front of him.
Crecy is a disordered, unconventional woman who inveigles herself into his well ordered, obsessive, mad, lonely world.

This has been my favourite book in the series apart from Flaming June which I had read out of order. Hero's with afflictions which we think are part of our modern world must have appeared as madness in the 19th century. How many were locked away?
