Too Good To Be True Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 31 ratings

Disgraced former FBI agent Tim Burkhart desperately wants to reclaim his life and find happiness. Relocating his fledgling private security company to Miami—where his ex-wife moved their two daughters—hopefully is a start. When he’s hired to provide protection for an antiques dealer on his way to Scotland to sell a priceless ancient dirk, Tim believes the break he’s been waiting for has finally arrived. Maybe now he can make enough money to hire a lawyer and get shared parenting of his little girls.
Elliot James runs the antique shop he inherited after his grandfather’s death. Lonely and swimming in debt, he longs for a way to turn his life around but keeps making one mistake after another. Then he finds the ancient dirk tucked away among junk as he’s cleaning out his grandfather’s home. Placing it up for sale, he is thrilled when an out of country buyer purchases the priceless antique. The buyer wants the dirk immediately and sends Tim to ensure Elliot safely delivers it on time.
The moment Tim and Elliot meet, however, everything falls apart. Between break-ins, shoot-outs, stalkers, totaled cars, and the cops, it seems Tim and Elliot will never get to Scotland by the deadline. Despite all the obstacles, an unexpected attraction pulls them together, offering each man a glimmer of hope. But if they don’t deliver the dirk on time, they won’t get paid and neither of them will be able to pick up the pieces of their lives.
Will Destiny Ink help them complete this job and find a happily ever after, or is all of this really too good to be true?

Deanna Wadsworth might be a bestselling erotica author, but she leads a pretty vanilla life in Ohio with her wonderful husband and a couple adorable cocker spaniels. She has been spinning tales and penning stories since childhood, and her first erotic novella was published in 2010. When she isn’t writing books or brainstorming with friends, you can find her making people gorgeous in a beauty salon. She loves music and dancing, and can often be seen hanging out on the sandbar in the muddy Maumee River or chilling with her hubby and a cocktail in their basement bar. In between all that fun, Deanna cherishes the quiet times when she can let her wildly active imagination have the full run of her mind. Her fascination with people and the interworkings of their relationships have always inspired her to write romance with spice and love without boundaries.

I enjoyed this story. Loved Tim and Elliot, they blend together well. This was adventurous and fun with a good mix up and great characters. I enjoyed all the mixes and fun and the ending. Enjoyable read.

One of Destiny Ink’s three fates, Lady Phoebe did it again! She misplaced an ancient dirk that must be back where it belongs before a certain wedding occurs or things will get real ugly, from a supernatural perspective. Being half human herself, she gets to work looking for a man to protect her treasure. Maybe she proverbially, kills two birds with one stone when she also has her latest Destiny Ink match meet up. She indeed finds that the dirk is being sold by the perfect man for her client in Destiny. These stories are so lively, so different from one another and so entertaining.
Tim Burkhart has just recently come out of his closet. His ex-wife is making it as hard as possible for him to see his two daughters who are only four and six years old. Because his wife’s father was also his SAC, Special Agent in Charge, he finds himself fired from the FBI in disgrace. I’ll leave you to find out the cause. Tim is not perfect. He cheated on his wife, but once you get to know her, you might feel more mercy in his case. Tim’s mysterious client is paying him to protect the holder of the dirk, Elliot James who has his own troubles. Although they are attracted to one another, they are plagued with misadventures. What you will also find in these “Destiny Ink” stories is a neatly tied up ending. Loved it. By happenstance, you’ll also meet couples from former books. Love how Lady Phoebe pulls that off! I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews.

Book – Too Good To Be True (1NightStand)
    Author – Deanna Wadsworth
    Star rating - ★★★★★
    No. of Pages – 118

    Cover – Very moody!
POV – 3rd person, dual POV
Would I read it again – Yes!

Genre – LGBT, Gay, Crime, Adventure, Romance

** I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR MY READING PLEASURE **

Reading a Deanna Wadsworth story is a little like coming home. The writing style is perfect, the dual POV suits me to a T and the characters are always somehow familiar, but vastly individual and new. Every time I open a new book by Deanna, I know I'm going to smile and laugh and come away feeling better.

    Once again, she didn't disappoint.

Tim is that typical Gaybie – scared, unsure, nervous, questioning every point of contact and every thought. Yet, he's also trying so hard to be more open and accepting of himself.
Elliot on the other hand, is that out and proud, loveable guy, who is expressive and tender.
Together, they're this bundle of adorable, cuteness. Tim with his insecurities and his desperate need to finally find a fulfilling relationship; Elliot with his own issues over his epilepsy and his terrible dating track record. They need each other in ways that can't really be described. Unless you read the book.

I was so happy to see Nick, Paul and Josef again. And that little slip of adding in Travis, John, Marty and Garret in at the end was just amazing!

The way Deanna dealt with the foot fetish was excellent. No shame, not making a joke out of it, but proving that it can be sexy for both men involved. The whole night together, with the foot massage and “special” ;) was so hot! In a similar way, the very serious topics – epilepsy, dementia, drug use, drug dealing and homophobia (especially in the police/FBI) – were all dealt with sensitively and with passion.

Once again, Madame Eve worked her magic and this pair of loved up, beautiful, heartwarming men were able to find their HEA thanks to her thoughtful connections.

This is one series – and one author – I will never tire of reading.

““I'm going to put it in my foyer,” he said with a sinister laugh.
Hedging, Mr. Strait looked uncertain. “The bedroom is a more appropriate place for this, don't you think?”
    Huh. I didn't imagine the sixty-nine, then.
The man's answering bark of laughter drew the attention of several people nearby. “Are you kidding me? When Tristan's homophobic Southern Baptist mother shows up for Christmas, I want her to see it every morning. The old bitch will be so uncomfortable and have absolutely no idea why. She'll probably leave before New Year's.”

“You say one more word and I'll break your neck and get rid of your body. Google won't even be able to find you.”

Another good book in the Destiny Ink series. Wonderful characters and a great storyline. Tim and Elliott are sweet together and it's insta-love.

This is another fun romance in the Destiny Ink series. The book was well-written and kept my attention throughout. I enjoyed getting to know the characters. Elliot was sweet and in need of protection and Tim is so strong, confident and just the man for Elliot. I liked the instant connection between the MC’s and the heat of their chemistry. This story had more than just a romance. It had a mystery and an ex exhibiting very bad behavior. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Another fun Destiny Ink story from Deanna Wadsworth, this one about Elliot, an antique store owner, and Tim, an ex-FBI agent now in personal security, set to deliver an antique dirk to Scotland. Their meeting is out of the ordinary, Elliot tied to a chair and Tim rescuing him from two punks, but they go on to meet and surmount several other obstacles to their mission, none the least being an epileptic seizure from Elliot. The attraction between them grows quickly, only for Tim to realize Elliot is the partner Lady Phoebe had in store for him. Completion of their mission secures a financial future for both and shared custody of Tim’s daughters, leading to their Destiny HEA.
Lovable main characters as is usual from this author and Destiny Ink, a variety of story lines which pull the reader right in to the end, and usually a visit from one or more characters from previous Destiny Ink stories. Fairly short, fun reads with lots of smiles and feel goods.

A great story for this series I really enjoyed reading this. Includes hot foot fetish scenes. Both MCs have baggage of the past even with one of them dealing with epilepsy.
Tim is an ex-FBI agent and now operating his security company Burkhart Security Inc,  Tim previously married with two daughters down the coast and recently came out gay. Lonely he hires Madame Eve to search for a man for him.
Elliot was an antiques dealer wanting Tim as his personal security to deliver a sword to Scotland. Tim thought Elliot was handsome and for 3 days, a dream job he'd  jumped at.
But there first meeting doesn't go well with a burglary at the shop. Elliot is desperate for the trip to go ahead as planned.

Tim has a new security business, and is trying to rebuild his life after a divorce and losing his job in the FBI. He struggled with coming out, getting into drugs and cheating on his ex, but he’s cleaned up his act and wants a real relationship.

He’s assigned to accompany Elliot, who’s selling a dirk to a buyer in Scotland. Elliot has epilepsy, and hasn’t found a man who’ll tolerate his seizures. When they meet, they see each other’s issues and how others haven’t accepted them, but are able to accept each other.

For an instalove magic tinged story, this was a fun novella to read. The foot fetish wasn’t my thing, but wasn’t depicted in a strange way that affected the story.
