Totally Opposed (Love In Play Book 3) Kindle Edition
When you’re crushing on a guy, the last thing you want is to get caught singing their name while naked in the locker-room showers. Thankfully, Ryan pretended not to notice. I can play the denial game with the best of them, but I can’t ignore the growing feelings I have for him. We’ve been rivals on the field for two years, but lately, my eyes keep finding him off the field as well, drawn to his piercing blue stare and brilliant smile.
As fate would have it, we’re paired together for a sequence of Star-Crossed Lovers skits, and while I’m excited at the prospect of spending more time with him, with rumors of team cuts at the end of the season, it makes me wonder if there is any point in starting anything at all. Maybe we’re just destined to stay on opposing sides.
Ryan
Being on the other side of the world from your entire family is hard, especially when you see everyone else going home to theirs every night. So, when I moved in with Duckie and Ian, I was excited to at least have people to come home to.
But they aren’t the only ones I see every day. Across the alley lives an old man and his cat who greet me with a demonic howl and a gruff reminder that my favorite game isn’t “real” baseball.
Good thing I’m not easily offended, and while I might be still on the fence about the cat, imagine my surprise when I discover the old man is Alan Beaker’s grandfather. Suddenly, my days aren’t just filled with on field practice and rehearsals with the guy I’ve been crushing on hard, they’re also filled with time spent with him off the field too.
It isn’t long until I notice just how devoted to family Alan is, and the more time I spend with his, the more they make me feel like I belong. Now if only I can get Alan to take a chance on us, then I can make this feeling last forever.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was a fun, quick, very long angst story. Alan and Ryan are on opposing teams. They both have a slight crush on each other but neither have realized it. It’s super cute how they come together! Like the previous books there are a lot of very sweet moments. I love that Ryan was able to bring Alan and his gramps together.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2024Format: KindleSo if I was this is an awesome series. I really am loving the baseball side of stories. The chemistry between these two is off the charts wonderful. This is a dual point of view story so if you're getting told the story instead of reading it. Which I really love cuz it's coming from both sides. You do not need to read the previous books to understand this one but the characters do make appearances so it doesn't hurt to go back and read them. You'll you're missing good books.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2024Format: KindleThis was a cute and sweet baseball romance with very low angst. This book is a part of a series but I am proof that it is not necessary to read the other books in order to enjoy this one. I have not read any of the other books in the series but I enjoyed this one enough that I do plan to go back and read the previous and future installments. Ryan and Alan were very cute but I do admit I had a hard time at the beginning keeping them straight. I couldn’t remember which one was the pitcher, which one was the swimmer and which one was from the UK. Funnily enough, those are all the same person. Once I was able to keep them straight in my mind I could really dive into the story. To be clear though I think this was more of a me problem rather than the author as no one else who has reviewed this story seemed to have this problem. Ryan and Alan both had crushes on each other but neither one thought it was reciprocated. This is resolved fairly quickly in a spectacular kiss and then it is full steam ahead for these two. In addition to Ryan and Alan, we are introduced to Alan’s grumpy but lovable grandpa and his demon cat. Grandpa and Precious were the icing on the cake for this story as we got lots of cute interactions with both Ryan and Alan together and individually.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Wow, completely blown away by Alan and Ryan, they are everything! I love everything about these two, starting with their chemistry, relationship, and all the spiciness is amazing. Totally Opposed is the first book I've read by Becca, and I loved everything about it. I found the chemistry between the main characters very organic. The way in which everything just flows, was really enjoyable to read. Alan and Ryan complement each other so well. I also love the dynamics between the teams, and the side characters in the story. Overall this has been one of my favorite reads this year. I definitely recommend this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2024Format: KindleRyan, single again and getting over a crush on a guy who had no interest in him, realizes he has a new guy he is most certainly interested in. Sure, he is on the ‘enemy’ team, and there could be complications, but he seems to be everything he is looking for. He doesn’t want the embarrassment he had with the last guy, so he just hopes that Alan will notice him one day while he is out on the field playing Banana ball, be it his dance moves or fastball that get his attention.
Alan is looking for someone after getting over his ex, but he is also looking for his grandpa to be proud of him. Every time the man who raised him points out that what he does isn’t ‘real baseball,’ it breaks his heart a little more. While working through his family worries, he finds himself enthralled with a guy on the opposing team and gets caught by him singing his name in the shower, naked, unable to explain. It was not how he had wanted Ryan’s attention, but here they are. When they were thrust together to do opening dance numbers that were steamy, they both realized they were waiting for the other.
OPINION: This is a low-angst slice-of-life story about two guys falling hard. Most of the story revolves around the struggles that Alan faces, where Ryan is there to help him through. It’s easy to love Ryan since he is kind and steps up for everything—is it a British thing? As you navigate through their love story, it falls in place easily, and their friends and family embrace the relationship even though they are on opposing teams. Both men are good guys who are doing their best to keep their jobs, fall in love, get through personal issues, and take care of family. There are several sub-plots within the love story and a few wonderful secondary characters that add some humor. There's not a lot of spice, but a few good scenes add flavor to the narrative. This is a lovely book with some great people, not only the main MCs but also the family and friends.

These boys totally deserve each other and knowing that Ryan loves Alan’s gramps like his own was so cute. This whole series has kept me invested and I can’t wait to see Tim’s story. I love that I found all these books and can’t wait to see what comes next!

This was a fun, low angst, cute and quick read which I enjoyed.
Alan and Ryan are Banana Ball players from opposing teams, who get closer to each other by doing promos and opening skits. Ryan also lives next door to Alan's grandpa and ends up helping with him and even cooking for him.
They were cute together and there was no big drama, which I appreciated. Ryan helped Alan start to get over his fear of swimming after a bad experience in his childhood. They are both single after breaking up with not so great boyfriends, and I really enjoyed how drama free they were and how naturally they fit together. Ryan felt like a caretaker with the cooking and I really enjoyed that.
I really loved all the singing and dancing they did, it was so fun. And I really loved the 2 Banana Ball teams that appeared in the book and loved the friens group.
There were a couple of really funny moments and the book gave me feel good vibes. I haven't read the other books in the series yet, but that wasn't a problem while reading this book.
Definitely recommend this book between heavier reads, or if you want something fun and cute with Banana Ball and dancing.
