True Mate (Prosper Woods Chronicles Book 1) Kindle Edition
When I moved to Prosper Woods, California a couple of weeks ago, I’d had big plans for a quiet life. Let’s just say, things haven’t exactly turned out the way I expected they would. For one thing, as new sheriff, I hadn’t planned on investigating a murder the day after my arrival. For another thing, no one told me supernatural creatures existed. I didn’t believe it at first, but when Vincent Lasco suddenly smiled at me with a mouth full of fangs, things got interesting.
Quiet small town life indeed!
The moment I decided to take Sheriff Romeo Harmon home for a roll in the sheets, I knew hiding my true nature was a huge mistake. Then again, things never turn out the way I expect. The simple life of anonymity I’d hoped to have in Prosper Woods has blown up in my face in the most poetic and spectacular way. Not only that, the guy isn’t even aware that he has secrets of his own. How a guy could have lived all his life not knowing what he was, seems nearly impossible but in his case, I know it’s true.
Supernaturals are everywhere!
The town of Prosper Woods has a couple of new residents who at first glance, seem very unsuited for small town life. Before long though, I realized they were right for the town… probably the only right thing about this weird place. Surprisingly, they fit right in.
Things are about to get interesting!

- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2021I’ve really enjoyed this series so far. It starts with a prequel, True Knight, which reveals how Vincent and Romeo meet. Then, continues in this book with a new mystery story. The prequel is an absolute must and is actually book 1.
The characters are enjoyable and interesting. They are each quirky in their own way and loveable. Vincent and Romeo are a great couple dealing with a crazy world together. I love the town of Prosper Woods and can’t wait to keep learning more.
The world is well done. The shifters are different than what is normal, and I like that. And who doesn’t love vampires and unicorns? And crotchety old witches?
If you’re looking for a fun paranormal mystery series in a small town, this is it. And if you didn’t know you were looking for it, you do now.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2023This is the first book in the Prosper Woods series. This book is about Rome the sheriff and Vincent a vampire. Rome moved to Prosper woods to get a break from LA. He meets Vincent and a whole new world is revealed to him because Prosper Woods is full of paranormals. Because Vincent is a vampire, the local alpha werewolf does not like him because of past issues with vampires. On top of that, vampires show up and threaten Vincent for a book that he has and they want. Rome is still deal with his new life and finding out who is paranormal while dealing with intense relationship with Vincent. The two men will definitely have to work together to survive the trials coming.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2022I would recommend reading the prequel before starting this book series. It is not required, but I kept thinking, I need to go back and read that, as I read this book. It was a fun adventure into a new and exciting par as normal world. I can’t wait to see the other mysteries/issues that Rome, Vi cent and friends solve.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2021I wish I'd read the prequel first and I plan to do so now! But after I figured out what had happened previously, I found then story between Vincent and Romeo entertaining and steamy. I loved the mystery and suspense. The relationship between Romeo and Vincent was a good dynamic.
I received this book as an ARC and gave my honest review.
Read the prequel! And all will be well ;)
- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2021And what an adventure it's going to be!! This new series is intriguing and interesting. New Characters and plot lines. Don't miss this journey .. start right here for the fun and excitement!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2021The conflicts in this story, and there are several come to sloppily composed conclusions with so many holes you might as well strain some pasta.
I get that Logan wants to set up for a ling series, but they should try to focus on making this book good, and right now this and the prequel both sit at 2.5 stars rounded to three.
The amount of repeat in the story is annoying, and there is already a pattern forming whenever there is a conflict. I get that the Sheriff and Vincent are still learning the names and residents of the town, but there really doesn't need to be that much detail into their lives, if they aren't relevant to the story. And at least three characters in the story get pages and pages of description without ever doing a thing for story progression.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2021This was a fun read with lots of different paranormal characters which added to its charm. I highly suggest that you read the prequel True Knight first to help establish the background needed for this book. Romeo and Vincent have their hands full between the werewolves and the other vampires who want something from them. This is a new to me author whose books I look forward to reading. This review is an honest and unbiased reflection of my thoughts after reading an advanced readers copy of the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2021A vampire and a unicorn fall in love...It sounds like the beginning of a bad joke but it's actually the beginning of a fantastic story about two men with virtue in their hearts. They're just a little different, one is a 700 some year old vampire and the other is a man who never knew he was a unicorn.

5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting chronicle!
I enjoyed a lot the dynamic of this book! The intricated plot was fluid and entertaining, with a lot of wonderful characters, many surprises, heartwarming moments and an original paranormal twists. I recommend to read the prequel, it helped me a lot to understand the main situations and how the world is built in this series. An amazing reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice story
I liked how the story between Roméo and Vincent grew deeper while we got to know them and the other characters.
It was quite a fun assemble of characters and I loved how the story weaves around them.
I can't wait to read the next one and see how the rest of the story goes

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and interesting read, but you need to read the prequel first!
If you havent read the prequel, definitely go and do that first. It is required for the start of this book to make sense, so I'm not sure why it wasn't just book 1. It's really not optional.
This book was fun and interesting. I liked how the worldbuilding was done and the characters built. The storyline flowed well, but needs a little more depth with regards to some of the plot aspects. Hopefully that will get built on as the series progresses.
Looking forward to reading the next book when it's released.

5.0 out of 5 stars Live long in Prosper
Once again an ace book from Patricia Logan. I loved all the letters to the newspaper and I loved the animal Sally is. There is an overriding deep love between Vincent and Rome, neither can live without the other. I'm very glad justice has been served on the ex werewolf alpha. I look forward to reading the next book and the search for a lost boy Blue. Brilliant storytelling, loved it immensely.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strange
Prosper Woods is a strange place filled with unusual shifters. I'd recommend reading the prequel first as it lays down a lot of the background and establishes the main couple.
It's fun, doesn't take itself too seriously and I love the little newspaper snippets
