Twilight Heist (Outlaws Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 34 ratings

Heist rule number two? Never fall for a lone wolf.

A blast from Tuck’s circus past draws Tuck and the charming lone-wolf hacker, Leo, into a dizzying web of passion, secrets, and betrayal.

When the circus comes calling, Tuck is helpless to the lure, and this time, his old troupe’s in trouble. Their attempt to leave Reynauld Industries ended with a hit on them, courtesy of the deadly mercenary group, the Stockyard. Tuck can’t sit idly by, and as the resident stealth operator for the Outlaws, he’s in a unique position to help.

Leo’s a lone wolf hacker, and no amount of his best friend’s pleading, Tuck’s flirty smiles, or interesting jobs will sway him into working with the Outlaws. At least, until they land this one. After growing up in the hellish Stockyard, he’s wanted to take them down for years, and this is the Holy Grail of opportunities. Only problem? The Outlaws can never know about his history with them.

When Leo and Tuck start working together, a chemistry emerges that neither of them can deny. Leo’s mantra of “one and done” falters the moment Tuck shows him a care and steadfastness he’s never experienced before, and the more time they spend with each other, the more he doesn’t want to give up the first man he’s started to fall for. However, if the Outlaws discover his past or the Stockyard finds him first, Leo will end up one of the bloated corpses they’ve left lining the Chicago River.

If you love espionage, high-octane action, and sizzling romance, you need this series!

This book is ridiculously good and had me gasping as it took twists and turns just as thrilling as a high-wire act. Leo and Tuck are hot as all get out and I didn't want the book to end, though I NEEDED to know how it ended! McIntyre gives us plenty of excitement in her signature style. I can't wait for more of this series!

First, I'm officially in love with the Outlaws. Second, I'm even more in love with Tuck and Leo.

We met the Outlaws (and Leo) in book one, Midnight Heist. And I'll admit. I read it knowing that Tuck and Leo were going to be the protags of book two and kind of kept an eye on them seeing if I could glean anything about what to expect from them. Nothing prepared me for how amazing their story was.

They were connected through an intense chemistry and a shared goal - the shared goal spurred on by past traumas in their lives. For Tuck, it was protecting the Twilight Circus that he grew up with and in. For Leo, it was bringing down the Stockyard for reasons that are explained later in the book but would be considered spoilers if I told you in my review. The two goals convene on one job and Leo, despite not being an Outlaw, agrees to work with them. He doesn't, however, mention that he has a personal vendetta with this one. And yes, that does cause some mishaps.

This is a book about two men who yearn to have something deeper than they've allowed. Tuck wants what Grif and Dan found in book one, someone to kiss before a mission and to worry on if he got home. And Leo, he wants to trust - which isn't something he's good at. Trust issues with a capital T, honestly. And its so great watching these two men find what they're looking for with each other. Its even better to watch Leo break all of his rules because of how he feels about Tuck, even when he wants to deny it.

The side characters - the other Outlaws - are again, scene stealers. I cannot wait for Scar's book and the banter between John and Alanna continues to give me so much life. I am weak for Found Family and Katherine McIntyre writes such amazing found families.

Oh, and as for heat? This book is hot. Like incredibly hot. The chemistry radiates between Tuck and Leo and its absolutely undeniable. The emotional tension between them is also undeniable and I just - I loved them. I loved this book. I cannot wait for the next one. 10/10 definitely recommend.

Twilight Heist by Katherine McIntyre is the second book in her Outlaws series. Tuck’s physical strength and agility has led him to being a valued member of the Outlaws. He is shocked to be contacted by a blast from his past life with the circus asking for the Outlaws help. Leo has found himself being inducted into the Outlaws unintentionally through his close friendship with Dan and a hook up with Tuck. His not so happy childhood has left him most comfortable alone behind a computer but Leo cannot say no to trying to help save Tuck’s circus family when they come calling. But with pasts coming to light and trust being in short supply both Tuck and Leo find themselves in danger of losing more than their hearts.

After sharing an indescribably hot night with Tuck, Leo finds the circus situation closely aligns with his own personal vendetta so he agrees to help in any way he can. He opens up to Tuck in a way he never has before but keeps key details secret which comes back to be dangerous to all the Outlaws. Leo keeps trying to put space between himself and Tuck because he refuses to believe anyone will stay in the long run.

Tuck immediately feels connected to Leo but tries to reel in the extent of his feelings due to how skittish the man is. He wants more from Leo but tries to distract himself with keeping his circus family safe with assistance from his new Outlaw family. Things fail to go according to plan both with Leo as well as with the circus and Tuck finds himself questioning everything, even his own heart.

The Outlaws series follows a found family of morally gray characters looking to right past wrongs and live their lives as they want. With each book you learn the history of one of the Outlaws and see them fall in love. I enjoy suspenseful romance and did like seeing Leo give into his feelings for Tuck and Tuck’s patience letting Leo get there in his own time. I did find it dragged a little at times but that could have just been me.

3.5 stars for Tuck and Leo learning to put the past behind them so they can look forward together.

Enjoyable story, it was good but a tad predictable. Very likeable characters. Still so confused on one characters ever changing pronouns.

This follow-up to Midnight Heist was so long coming that I'd almost given up on the series continuing. Let me just say, the wait was so worth it! Leo's and Tuck's story is absolutely fantastic. All the good things I remember from the first book are here: found family, drama, suspense, secrets, and doing good by being bad. (If you've read either book, you know what that means.) This is another exciting thrillride, along with some steamy, sexy scenes which are not to be missed. I loved Leo and Tuck's story and hope there are more 'outlaw' stories to come. I just hope the wait won't be so long until the next one.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Twilight Heist is the second book in the Outlaws series. It can be read as a standalone, but I’d definitely recommend reading them in order. We get Tucks’ backstory, yay! Leo and Tuck grew up in the Midnight circus. Both wanted revenge. Leo grew up in foster care and he craved revenge for the wrongs he felt was against him. Tuck is part of The Outlaws; he was a tightrope walker and that was a useful tool in getting in and out. Leo is a hacker, and they need his help with an operation. Leo and Tuck have to work past their difference. These two have amazing chemistry together. Overall, a fantastic second story in the Outlaws series, seriously loved it! Well written with addicting pacing that I couldn’t stop reading.
