Valkyrie Renewed Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 20 ratings

The world needs saving, and my magic can help. Too bad I have no memory of this power.

I have everything I could want: a loving father, my
just best friend Diego, and our family mountain retreat where lost souls come to find themselves. And yet, I find myself feeling like there’s something missing.

When a scarred, weary warrior with a missing hand, looks that could kill and melt my insides, and an air of familiarity rolls up, I begin to wonder if it’s not him who is lost, but me.

Fighting the way Diego’s smiles sends my heart skittering, and ignoring Tyr’s crazy talk of gods and a past history with him thousands of years ago, becomes the least problematic parts of my life when nightmares of menacing black wolves return to haunt my dreams, and magic begins to fly from my fingertips.

When the truth becomes too much for me to ignore, am I up to the task of healing a broken world, or will the wolves again go for the throat?

Valkyrie Renewed is perfect for fans of fated second chance romances, reincarnation, reimagined mythology, and stories such as Twilight of the Gods. It is book 2 of Astrid’s slow-build, the-men-fall-first saga. Her other two books are Valkyrie Lost and Valkyrie Freed.

Astrid’s story is part of the
Valkyries Rising series. Tales where the heroine doesn’t have to pick just one mate. In these pages, you’ll find strong heroines who don’t back down, and the shifters, gods, dragons, and other immortals who love them and fight by their sides.

If you need a bit of a back story, Tyr lost Astrid to a wolf in a past life and made Frejya promise to bring her back to him. Fastforward to the present time, and they are finally reunited. But reunited means a difficult time for Tyr as Astrid has close to no memory of her past.

Astrid is now a healer of a different sort and is best friends with her secret love of her life, Diego. And then this mysterious hunky god comes into her life making her more confused. I have to say, I love this triangle as both are so good for Astrid. They fit her just great, building her up and being her protector.

I had a little bit of a time trying to connect and remember people from the past with people in the now. So, if you're a bit type a, write it all down as reference!

I liked the story and the development of the characters. It felt more rounded compared to the book before and it made me appreciate the world and the storytelling behind it better. It's very interesting to read about Norse Mythology and this makes it more appealing to a new crowd.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved this book about Astrid who has been reborn multiple times since losing her life during a war between the gods. It is now current times and she is about to have her whole world change when Tyr shows up at her family's retreat - a place for those who seek healing for their souls. Tyr can't believe that he has finally found his lost love. Though she is not the same person, she still looks like his Valkyrie and maybe she will fail for him all over again. But there is her best friend Diego, who obviously wants to be more, and her best girlfriend Aya who turns out to be the goddess Freya who has been watching over Astrid during this life cycle. There is someone, or some thing, that wants Astrid dead and she is going to need to embrace her new and past lives if she wants to defeat the evil that stalks her.

Loved the Astrid-Tyr-Diego triangle and how all of the characters in Allyson Lindt's Valkyrie world come together with Shannon's characters to add to a great story that isn't over yet. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Astrid-Tyr-Diego a bit of a lethal combination. Astrid has been reborn multiple times with Tyr always on the search for her. While in her past lives she was not a “real” Valkyrie in this rebirth that has changed. In this lifetime she has no memory of who and what she was until something triggers her memories.

The forces that killed her originally is still on the hunt for her, but with the return of her memories and her mates she may at least have a fighting chance this time.

The author does a great job of laying things out for you a bit at a time, it still is a bit of an information overload at times and keeping track of who’s who and their new names along with their old names and at times I had to reread a few pages to figure out who was speaking. The lines got blurred a few times and it got a little confusing.

The chemistry between the three of them is off the charts, there is MF and MFM contact so if you are strictly a two person show this may not be the read for you.

There are other stories interwoven within this story that I am curious to see how they play out. I’m also ready to follow where this trio leads.

I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

Astrid starts the book as a lady with very few problems - she has a rewarding career, she lives in a beautiful place, and she gets to spend time with her almost life-long best friend Diego. The only real cloud in her sky is that Diego is a Hotty McFlirt but Astrid's convinced he just wants to be friends. It's when Tyr shows up to Astrid's retreat that she starts to have some real problems.

But, not terrible problems - she's got a past to reckon with that she can't recall, a fear of large dogs that she's trying to face, and magical abilities that she didn't really know about. And two smoking hot guys to help. Why can't my problems be more like this? :)

I enjoy Ms. Pemrick's world-building and this book is no exception. She also crafts characters with depth and that feel real, even if they are magic wielding Norse gods. If you haven't read Valkyrie Lost, you probably should before reading this book - you'll be able to understand and follow the plot either way, but the emotional depth in some of the later scenes won't resonate as fully without the entire backstory. Can't say more without spoilers :)

Supernatural story about Norse mythology that transcends time. Features ancient gods and mythical creatures set in modern world. It is a pretty good story even though I found it pretty predictable. It has a decent amount steam.

I received a free copy of this book and was asked to read and review it honestly.

I really enjoyed this Tyr had to keep trying to find his "Valkyrie" the love of his life as well as his wife. Being an immortal god of Justice he frequently got called away. Freya and Tyr's wife Astrid got close and when he lost her at the end of the previous book he was devastated.

Freya watches over his wife Astrid until they are reunited. But there is so much action, drama and jealousy herein that it kept me on my toes as well as Riveted by what Astrid had gone through.

My advice keep some tissues handy as the emotional rollercoaster I rode made then necessary. I suggest you grab a copy and be swept away like I did.

I am really loving the variety of Valkyrie books that I am reading at the moment and this book blew me away. The characters are flawlessly crafted and I just loved the angst, passion and emotion between the characters, it is pretty tangible and gets you wholly invested in their story. The plot is excellent and will keep you glued to the pages from start to finish.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
