Showstopper (Vino and Veritas) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 1,018 ratings

I swore I wouldn’t do this again. Mix sports, school, and sex. But right now the only thing standing between me and the NHL is six feet of frenemy packed into a pair of formfitting jeans that have me thinking all kinds of things I shouldn’t. Mostly how to get him out of them.

I don’t just want Kolby. I need him. Because I’ve got to pass this theater class--yeah, I said theater--if I’m going to keep my spot on the team. When tutoring sessions turn into dates-not-dates over Shipley Cider at Vino and Veritas, I realize it’s going to be harder than I thought to keep my hands on my stick and off of Kolby. Worse, I think I might be falling for him. But I’m not ready for that. I want to keep this thing between us on the down low for now.

But Kolby hates secrets. Especially his own . . .

About the Author

Iggy Toma is a voice-over artist, musician, and activist based in New York City. He is an avid reader of romance and mystery, and he has a soft spot for daytime soap operas.

Cooper North is an audiobook narrator known for his readings of books in the Power Play series by Lynda Aicher.

Regina Kyle knew she was destined to be an author when she won a writing contest at age ten with a touching tale about a squirrel and a nut pie. By day, she writes dry legal briefs, representing the state in criminal appeals. At night, she writes steamy romance with heart and humor. A lover of all things theatrical, Regina lives on the Connecticut coast with her husband, teenaged daughter, and two melodramatic cats. When she's not writing, she's most likely singing, reading, cooking, or watching bad reality television.

Showstopper (Vino and Veritas)
Shenanigans for the #win!! What ridiculous fun this story turned out to be. It wasn’t just the storyline itself that was fun but so were Kolby and Adam! This was a genius set-up that I could have read for a long while! The improv class alone entertained me to no end! Shenanigans!! *sigh* This binge-read I did with the last 5 stories in this series was truly epic and Showstopper added the best comic relief I’ve read in a while! This is one story I wish were longer and longer for that alone! That’s not to take away from all the other goodies this story had to offer, though. It was well written with no plot points just hanging there or dramatic events milling around just for drama’s sake. This was a total #funfest I would highly rec to every reader out there! Sidebar: I love the fact that the story has a thin attachment to Moo U hockey which highlights it's versatility in The World of True North! So props for that :)

In this lengthy and wonderful Vino et Veritas series, this particular novel by Regina Kyle stands out for superbly weaving together several tropes, each of which could have propelled the novel alone. The author had made the characters compelling and the story so enticing that I read this entire book in one sitting. I very highly recommend Showstopper.

I liked this book and sped through it in two days. I especially enjoyed the combination of the moo U and Vino and Veritas worlds.
Both Adam and Kolby were likable characters with deep back stories, but I felt an imbalance in the book that impaired my enjoyment.
First of all the pacing was off. It felt like by midpoint they had a falling out and a grand gesture and the book felt done. But then it grinds into a second half introducing new conflict, more fights and yet another misfired gesture.
In both situations it seemed that Adam treated Kolby badly. First not defending him when slags made insensitive comments and afterwards refusing to hear him out and cutting off contact for weeks. These aren't small misunderstandings, these are personality red flags that reduced my support for them as a couple.
Another thing that bothered me was the way Kolbys description seemed to morph from the beginning of the book where Adam described him as tall hot and impressive, to others referring to him as a skinny twink at the end. It seemed inconsistent.
All in all the book could have used more developmental editing and losing some of the subplots. Lack of communication as a way to create relationship drama is my least favorite thing and I wish the author had made more effort to keep them on the same side facing external challenges

We're back at V&V (life and other occurrences forced me to take a small reading break from Burlington) and (to my utmost delight) we got to spend some quality time with the hockey players at Moo U this time around. Adam is big, focused, and trying to find his place after transferring to the university.

But as focused as a person can be, sometimes love just smacks you upside the head and forces you to take notice. Even if the person you end up focused on isn't exactly what you think your ideal is. That said, Kolby has layers. He's smart, driven, and perfectly flirty. Soon he's getting under Adam's skin and the two are spending more and more time together.

That said, they both have secrets. Adam had REASONS for transferring to Moo U and Kolby's family is...not great. It takes time and trust before things get smoothed out between them. That said, Adam's teammates are pretty great. They have his back in a big way when things come out.

Secrets, snark, family dynamics (of both the complicated and supportive variety), friends, the hockey house, a man who isn't afraid to be himself, and another who loves hard when he gives himself the chance to. *thumbs up*

It was fine but nothing too memorable. I skimmed a bit. My least favorite of the series. As a free read I guess it was worth the time but easily skipped.

But…the audiobook was much more enjoyable, too many grammatical errors in the written version. Sorry, that’s a tough line for me to cross.

With an utterly adorable, steamy and downright fun cast, Regina Kyle is scoring a hat trick of her own with this riveting M/M college sports romance with a theater twist! The characters are fresh, the premise is humorous and the feels are flowing throughout. I loved every minute of Adam and Kolby's emotional journey towards that happily ever after!

Adam and Kolby's fireworks start from the very first page when tempers flare and attraction sparks. Adam is a new transfer and is trying to outlive an ugly occurrence while centering on his upcoming hockey career and Kolby is steadfast in his love of theater and simply putting one foot in front of the other to overcome family hurdles.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a college atmosphere with a sports theme and a twist of theater. There's humor, there's love, there's upset and there's emotions. Really enjoyed the realm of their relationship.

I truly loved this book. It really had me hooked from the beginning and I was so disappointed when I came to the end. Kolby and Adam are totally swoonworthy with their strong believable characters and the interesting storyline had me reading late into the night. I just couldn’t put it down until I knew that everything worked out in the end. I sincerely hope that Regina Kyle writes more books like this. I loved it!

Really cute and fun and loving story! I enjoyed reading this book.
Adam is new at Moo U, and needs to focus on school and hockey! So there’s no room for fun , right? But there comes Kolby, ray of sunshine! Can Adam resist?

Having never read anything by this author I was extremely impressed as to how well she combined both Moo U and Vino & Veritas. Kolby is an ex mormon, drama student who was abandoned by his family when he came out as gay. Adam is a hockey player who has just transferred to Moo U and when these two meet the chemistry is instant even if it does take them a while to act on it. Such a magnificent , beautiful book that I look forward to reading many times.
