Undone (Vino and Veritas) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 1,792 ratings

My new roommate has the worst taste in men.

I mean, Murph’s special. He’s funny and flamboyant and full of life.

While I’m straight, even I can tell these guys aren’t good enough for him.

I had to yell at one date, toss another one out the door, and throw a beer in another’s face.

Kind of embarrassing, really. I don’t know what’s gotten into me.

I ask my sister what’s wrong with me and she says I’m jealous.

Jealous? Please. Me?

Come on.

Only thing is, I hate the thought of Murph kissing any guy. Ever.

Except, maybe ... me?

Undone is a contemporary m/m romance about a dreamy insurance agent that might not be as straight as he thinks, an adorable bartender who adds sparkle wherever he goes, and maybe one or two jokes about swords.

These boys are so alive that they leap off the page. Their connection was genuine and passionate, and Murph is the most fun character I've read in a long time. Author Kim Hartfield

Another #win from my binge-read of the last 5 books in this series is going straight to Murph’s story after meeting him in Unforgettable by Marley Valentine!! I am so super stoked with the choices Leslie made with this story especially developing Murph and Jason as friends before more. It added a layer of swoon and #feels for me that just made my heart want to burst! Their friendship was amazing and made for some truly funny scenes between them. The progression of the journey was mature, and I could feel the awakening aspect in the story. I wasn’t just reading this one, I felt like I was in it. It drew me in, and I loved it. I loved them. I loved all of it! I’ve never gone thru the type of journey portrayed in this story myself, but when I read the story, I knew it was realistic and relatable. Don’t ask me to pin-point for you the when/where/who of it all because I don’t do that, but you’re going to have to trust me on this. The story was also inclusive of characters other than those specific to this book and that made it even more enjoyable for me because I’ve met them all! I couldn’t have asked for a better ending to my binge-read. Undone mirrored 4th of July fireworks at the end of a 4th of July get together with family and friends for me. It made me *happy sigh* and put a smile on my face!

Ahh. Murph. The sweet, sparkly, over-the-top (in a good way) bartender who brings light wherever he goes is up and he's found himself a hunky guy who doesn't realize he might be into men. Which could be a recipe for disaster, but really just gives us a super protective man who needs a little outside intervention to understand that dudes do it for him as much as ladies.

Or maybe more than ladies when it's Murph we're talking about. Seriously, the guy shines. Jason's not really a grump or anything, but Murph is definitely the sunshine between the two of them.

Speaking of Jason, he's kind of lacking in self-awareness. He's not bothered by Murph's flamboyant gayness, but he's never considered himself swinging toward the male end of the spectrum in a romantic sense. Considering how overbearing his father is, that's a little understandable. Fortunately, Jason has his sister who prods him into giving the idea some thought. And once he starts thinking about it, he realizes that YEAH, HE LIKES MURPH.

On Murph's end, he's sunny and genuinely kind, but he's carrying more than a few scars from a past relationship gone wrong. It takes time and a metaphorical kick to the pants for him to accept that maybe he really is a good choice for a guy like Jason. (To be fair, Murph's fabulousness seems like a good choice for pretty much anyone and he's not afraid to tell people that, but it takes a while for that to really sink in.)

Relationship woes, a Ren Faire, dates gone awry, a lot of sparkle, and two people who fit together nicely.

I struggled a little with this book the blurb made me want to read it the begging of the book was good but then it was like it became stagnant with all the first person in your head stuff there were things I liked and things that really didn't need to be added but that's just my opinion. First off having never read this author I didn't know what to expect maybe it's just her writing style that threw me I have other books in this series so it could have just been this book. Murphy is this over the top happy person who isn't ashamed of himself in anyway even if past lovers did a number on him one in particular this guy was a huge jerk and is the bane of what keeps causing Murphy to doubt Jason. Jason is a really likable guy a huge people pleaser a bit of a nerd but when it comes to emotions hes never really analyzed his own he doesn't realize his current hookup is into him in a big way Marnie never have I ever detested someone more except for Dirk Murphy's ex Marnie character is almost non existent threw out the book until the end when she tries to come between Murphy and Jason then she became this standard trop of the sad person that can't let go so it kinda soured me on the book at this point a little drama is okay but by the end you had Murphy doubting everything Jason said and did Murphy's crumy ex didn't need to be added at the end for me it felt too much especially after the Marnie incedent. Jason well its hard to believe he was clueless about his identity even his sister suspected and why she didn't clue her friend Marnie in I will never know I mean how long do you just sleep with a guy and not question why they won't commit and the minute you leave town they fall for someone who cares that it's a guy just move on and live your life. Jason's relationship with his father was a little cringy his father left a bad tast in my mouth with his homophobic rhetoric then he just decided after years of being like that to maybe except his son's choice I mean did Jason even need his exceptence he had Murphy and his sister new and old friends who were just like thats great were happy for you. Together Murphy and Jason are great they uplift each other the compliment each other personality wise and they have good chemistry but separately they were too much in there own heads which made them just blah like a couple of vanilla characters with know substance and Murphy at the end was frustrating how many times do you need someone to say I Iike you I want to be with you Jason hade to make a list and when Jason made his list I was like and you didn't know you were into guys and I see why your sister thought you mite not be so straight. So all in all this had some high points a good flow then it had to much drama and mental conversation for me to give it a full 5 stars.

I love the Reddit thread that the book is based on and I'm happy to say that I also love the book.

Jason needs a new housemate and his sister suggests Murph.
They hit it off from the start and becomes great friends who shares interests, cooking and outings and the fact that Murph is out and proud and Jason is straight doesn't change that.

Jason loves the colour, sparkle and light that Murph brings to his life and he quickly becomes very protective and fond of him and that combined with Jasons caring nature are making Murph develop a crush on him. But when Jason suddenly are both rude and unfriendly to the men Murph are seeing it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems between them.

I love Jasoand the way he treats Murph both before and after the revelation and Murph is a joy.
Lovely book and a lovely couple.

...optimistic. A lovely contemporary story about self- discovery and acceptance, about the power of (true) love in a world where it's still not easy to be "queer", still fortunately easier as it used to be.
Well writen, very likeable characters, a believable development and pretty much cuteness.
A story for the time one needs some encouragement to live the real life.

Reading Unforgettable, i just knew Murph would have given me the time of my life 'cause he is this sparkly being... and i was right 🤩
    I adored Undone.
It was so damn sweet and funny but also emotional, with a tid bit of angst to keep you on your toes 😍
And can we talk about Jason?! OMG the guy is a gem!! Where can i get a boyfriend like him?!!?
He is so damn caring, it melt my heart.
The only thing i hated was the way everyone (including himself) thought him easily manipulable. So it made me absolutely giddy the way he stood up for Murph and their love, but mostly for his own happiness 😍
