Heartscape (Vino and Veritas) Kindle Edition
From award-winning author Garrett Leigh comes a gorgeous new romance in the True North world! Think: great food, burly men and good times. Beards are optional but encouraged.
I’m not the obvious choice to run Burlington’s coolest wine bar—quiet, brooding, clueless about tannin content, and always one wrong turn away from another downward spiral.
But no one seems to mind that I'm a wreck. Besides me. I just focus on getting through each shift until the night a beautiful stranger appears, looking as lost and damaged as I feel.
When a mutual friend calls in a favor, the sexy newcomer winds up crashing on my couch. I don't know if it's his melodic Cornish accent, or his ocean blue eyes, or the rock-hard body with the mysterious scars, but I get the feeling whatever happened to him runs far deeper than those wounds.
Having Jax in my home makes my chest warm. Makes me shiver. Makes me want more. But I've got a pile of baggage and I don't want to be a burden on anyone let alone a man who seems to have enough demons of his own.
Our chemistry is off the charts. His arms feel like home. The last thing I want is to screw this up. Is it wrong to hope we can heal each other? Or will one of us die trying?
HEARTSCAPE is a heartfelt MM friends-to-lovers romance in the True North world, with a brooding bartender, a rugged outdoorsman, sweet angst and lots of Shipley cider. Triggers: contains mentions of depression, suicidal ideation and PTSD recovery.

This book broke my heart in the best way. -Kelz Marie
Tanner and Jax are both my favorite kind of hero and I adored every second of this story. -Voracious Book Addict
Heartscape was infused with a layer of grit and angst that made the tender moments feel that much more poignant. I loved these characters. This was a FIVE STAR reading experience for me! I absolutely recommend it! -Shelly, Bookgasms Book Blog
Swoooooooooooon!! Every single aspect of this story touched my heart. Gawd, the complexity but yet simplicity of these two men just destined for each other took my breath away. I cannot recommend this story enough. -Jessica, OMG Reads

- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2024This was a heart wrenching read, but well balanced with the healing power of a healthy relationship. Jax and Tanner are both flawed but they don't make excuses for bad behavior and they grow together beautifully.

This one was so good! I loved Jax and Tanner together. Both of these guys had pasts that caused them trauma and they helped each other heal. They had great chemistry and were such a fun pair (even with Tanners grumpy personality!)
Loved the audio narration with this one as well. Kept my drive to work entertaining.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2023I was more invested in Tanner as a side character in other stories. The character development didn’t ever seem to come together for anyone in the story. I just never cared about any of them because I never felt like I knew them.
Some of the grammar issues were just annoying.
Good series in general, but this one was a miss.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2023Oh man. Tanner is not in a good place when we first meet him. Well, actually, he's in a better place than he was, but he's not quite where he needs to be. He's skating on the edge of falling apart, but he's also slowly putting himself back together. Then Jax ends up crashing on his couch and he starts to connect (for lack of a better word) to things in a way that's healthy for his mental state.
Now, to be fair, Jax is almost as much of a mess as Tanner when he first rolls into Tanner's life. Jax just hides it a little better, sure, but he's dealing with a lot and his way of dealing is kind of to take off and hide out. In other words, both men have had traumatic events happen to them and both need a soft place to land where they can just breathe and be. Fortunately for them, that place happens to be Tanner's apartment over a bustling wine bar.
That said, I don't think the apartment alone would have done it. Tanner needed Jax and Jax needed Tanner. They worked well together and they managed to work through their issues because the other was there to support them when things got bad.
Trauma (of both the physical and mental variety), friends who don't give up, a grump who tires to push others away, and a man who really listens when it matters most. Good stuff!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2024This story pulled me in from beginning to end. I loved Tanner and Jax. This story deals with some heavy topics and both Tanner and Jax have healing that they need to do and have done. I loved watching them together though. They just fit and worked so well and it allowed both of them the room they needed to start healing. This story was easy to read for me because of the connection between Tanner and Jax. They both just felt better being around each other but they never pushed too far too fast. Great read and I will definitely be looking at more books by Garrett Leigh.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2022I’ve been devouring everything by Garrett Leigh lately, and after being left in a deep book hangover, I knew I needed to pick up a story that would suck me in and give me the feels so I grabbed Heartscape. I’d not yet read anything in the multi-author series, but am looking forward to reading more. While this wasn’t as deeply angsty as Garrett Leigh’s other titles, it gave me just what I was looking for. Her troubled characters, a solid love story, and a plot that keeps things moving. I settled in and got cozy with this one and it was exactly what I needed.
Tanner manages the wine bar in the small mountain town of Burlington, even though he’s as far from a wine expert as you could get. He’s a great manager, but beneath the surface is a man who is hiding from his pain and the noise in his head. Everything is the same day after day, until his friend Eve asks him for a favor. After the hostel in town burns down, she has a friend needing a place to stay for a bit. Jax has his own past that he left behind, but he’s in town trying to forge a new life away from it all. These two immediately hit it off and their chemistry never fades. First becoming friends, then slowly more.
These guys had the sweetest, slightly slow burn that only a friends to lovers book can have. I loved how their story wasn’t filled with tons of angst, just enough to give the characters depth and problems. Oftentimes in life, it’s not outside events but internal issues that cause bumps in the road in a relationship. That was the case with Tanner and Jax as both had unresolved traumas in their pasts that hadn’t been resolved. I loved how they were able to face them together and come out stronger on the other side. I loved how they just fell into one another too. Ultimately, this was a sweet and more or less light MM romance that will give you all the warm fuzzies as these two guys fall head over heels for each other!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2024As a Vermont resident I love the vivid descriptions of my home.
The story between these two is soft ad healing without being a magic love cures all solution. Its a love inspires me to be a better person.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful story
I really liked this one - both characters had lots of depth and the experiences were written in such a way that made you feel enough, but not in a way that made you sad - but in the end very uplifted. The passion that they had for each other was such a delight to read - thanks for writing the book x

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful
Loved it. The prose has so much depth to it (I highlighted so many lines of text because Garrett Leigh puts things so beautifully), and the character growth between these two is shmick! I love books that deal with mental health in an empathic and pragmatic way, which this definitely does.
I didn't want it to end.
