About the Author

Jodi Ellen Malpas was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northampton, England, where she lives with her family. Working for the family construction business full time and with the prospect of taking it over once her father retired, she tried to ignore the lingering idea of writing a novel until it became impossible. She finally found the time and courage to release her creative streak and in October 2012 self-published This Man as an e-book. She took a chance on a story with some intense characters, notably Mr. Jesse Ward, the Lord of the Manor, and sparked incredible reactions from women all over the world. Two months later, Jodi made the decision to give up her day job to concentrate on her new and very unexpected career in writing.

    Like the first book I loved the intrigue of the story and the MMC and his attitudes from zero to 1000 in mere nanoseconds...the FMC could've been a little more developed as with the first book she made me crazy as just when you thought she was good and moving forward...nope huge slide back...I still enjoyed the books and the ending could maybe continue?!?

    I absolutely loved this book. I loved the love story as much as I loved who done it part. I even wish it was longer because I couldn’t get enough of the twist and turns. My only complaint is at the end when explaining his last forgery switch I would love for that to be explained in greater detail, I felt it was barely touched on.

    Malpas has done it again! I really enjoyed the mystery of this duology. It was a little bit of the Thomas Crown Affair and Indiana Jones. The reader's always trying to figure out whose telling the truth or lying. The attraction between Eleanor and Becker is powerful. Becker is a haunted soul, Eleanor is seeking life outside her small town life. Coming from a small town, Eleanor is innocent in many ways. Then she meets Becker who awakens things in her she didn't know existed. She soon realizes she's in love with a man she doesn't understand. The more Eleanor discovers about Becker, the more her love for him is tested. It's a good read. The only negative for me were the endless love scenes, which prolongs the reader getting to the pith of the story. Don't get me wrong, I love love scenes as much as most readers; however, Becker and Eleanor were at it like rabbits. Other than that, it was a great story. I still highly recommend it. 👍

You’ve read Artful Lies and you think you know? Oh you have no idea. Savor this story. Don’t rush thru. I read most of it while traveling and I was emotional toward the end. On a plane. Did I care? Nope. I read the last chapter twice. It’s that good. And. There’s an epilogue to end all epilogues.

    Thank you Jodi for bringing us into the mysterious antique art world, introducing us to the Hunt family, showing us Becker and Eleanor ‘s complex love story and of course......allowing us a peek into The Haven.

    The conclusion of this series was everything I'd hoped it would be. Hot, steamy, sexy and had me glued to the book from page 1. The story between these two characters and their romance was so well written and I loved the excitement and intrigue the world of art added to this storyline. I have read every book Jodi (yes I feel we are on a first name basis at this point) has ever written. As an avid reader, I live for those books that you can visualize. I know exactly what Becker and Eleanor look like. I can see The Haven and I can even smell the history in it while I'm reading. I felt like I was at the Andelesea gala! This is what makes a GREAT author and a GREAT read. Any fans of the movie Entrapment? I felt a bit of that nostalgia while reading this but way hotter and so thrilling.

    I loved these characters... to a point...but in the last chapters this book becomes story telling nonsense. When Becker leaves to go to Rome and his grandfather knew he went without even telling Eleanor (after all the s@$t she's put up with) the story becomes a complete piece of disappointing BS. This storyline was insulting nonsense... such an ncredible let down. The grand father was always and I mean always against Becker seeking the statue. Always. But all of a sudden Becker leaves for Rome without telling Eleanor. Just before this Becker was arrested. He apparently knew he would be, had figured out how to get around the arrest and never said anything about any of these possibilities to Eleanor. The excuse is that Becker wanted her to figure out who he was on her own and chose to accept him. It's so unrealistic and contrived ridiculousness. I was sooooo disappointed in these last chapters of the book it broke my heart. To see this wonderful book go in this ridiculous direction...shame on the author for trying to come up with too convenient and quick an ending. Write another book about finding the statue ... or a short story about its discovery rather than writing this lame BS. So after all this time the grand father changes his mind, over night, and decides that it's really okay to lie to Eleanor again. He's told Becker throughput the book and, according to the book, for many years that he ( gf ) doesn't want to lose Becker (like he lost his son and daughter in law ) to the search for the statue. Then all of a sudden he's okay with Becker going to find it. It is such a bunch of ridiculous storytelling that I couldn't believe this author would try to condone such drivel. These last chapters are an insult to her readers. There are so many times Eleanor should have packed her bags. Becker's philandering, Eleanor being constantly subjected to his sexual conquests over and over again with only a sentence about how she just comes to accept this is, again, so unrealistic and shallow it's insulting. There's not a paragraph where Becker says " I'm sorry you have to deal with this. If the shoe was on the other foot I know I'd be crazy jealous". No, instead there's no acknowledgement ! WTF. That's crazy. At least acknowledge the pain it would have caused
    .
    I could go on and on about the things Becker asks Eleanor to just conform to, just accept about him ... and she does because she's in love with him but almost to the point of her own detriment...and he never has to accept anything about her. Why, because he's hot ???? Not good enough.

    In closing these characters were so great in so many ways and the story had wonderful moments but the things I've mentioned were unrealistic because they were never given the time to emotionally develop as they would have in the real world. Because of that the plot comes off as shallow in many spots.

    Who knew the world of Arts and Antiques was as corrupt and dark as this story is! Being totally honest the thought of arts and antiques bores me but in no way in the slightest does this story do that when it comes to the Hunt Corporation, because Jodi Ellen Malpas gives us everything but. The whole time of reading I had those nervous but excited butterflies in my stomach. I love nothing more when Jodi gives us a darker intense story that has you on the edge of your seat, and I mean expect to be gripped until the very end because even so close to finish I was unsure and nervous how this would go.

    He doesn’t just bring the steam and control , he is fire and flames and I’m sure no one would say no to one of his special spanks from this apple crunching hottie! You think you have him sussed ? You really don’t because he just keeps on surprising and shocking us!
    Eleanor is even more feisty and stronger. Her sass has increased and without a doubt she is the perfect match for Becker and his challenging ways. Their love is rooted deeply, it’s rare,pure and full of passion and leaves you in awe. And when you love some one as deeply as she does, you love all of them, you accept them for who they was and who they are, including the bad and their flaws and all.

    She creates really pull you in and she gives us secondary characters we all adore as much as the main and always leaves us wanting more.
