We Could Do This Tonight: An Age Gap Boss/Employee MM Romance (Package Deal World) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 263 ratings

How do I choose which heart to break? No matter who I choose, I'm going to be the loser.

Alejandro

Three years ago, Ben walked into my Portland bar and stole my heart with one look. It didn’t matter that I’m 21 years older than him. All he wants is me.

Benjamin’s beautiful smile and endless charm attract everyone he meets, including my 20-year-old daughter, Anna.

No one knows about all the things he and I have done together. And I’ve made sure to keep it from her.

My carefully constructed life built upon rules and my duty to my family is about to crumble before my eyes because she and I want the same thing—Ben.

In the end, keeping us a secret may cost me both of them. I’m in an impossible love triangle that, no matter which one I choose, I’m going to lose.

And when someone attacks my bar via social media, it’s all I can take.

So, which do I choose? Anna’s happiness? Or a life with Ben?

Ben

I knew I loved Alejandro Sanchez the moment our eyes met across the bar. There was something about the single dad and bar owner that I couldn’t get enough of.

After three long years, he’s finally okay with us. But when he refuses to tell Anna about us, I take matters into my own hands.

I’ll do whatever needs to be done to keep him in my life, even if it means accepting a date with Anna.

We Could Do This Tonight is an age gap, single dad, boss/employee love triangle romance and the second book in the We Could Do This Duet. It is the tenth book set in the Package Deal World with reoccurring characters from the original series. It is best enjoyed after reading We Could Do This Forever.

Note to the reader: If you have not read the Package Deal Series, you might find it beneficial to start there and refer to the reading order for the PD World within the books. All the books are available through Kindle Unlimited.

Emerson Beckett is new to the publishing world. As an avid sports fan and lover of well-written M/M romance books, Emerson loves her new career as an author of gay romance. It’s even more fulfilling for her when she can combine the two.

The journey to becoming an author started with an idea while reading on the sofa. That idea became an email that ultimately resulted in Emerson using those teacher skills to edit novels for three phenomenal MM romance authors. The third referral led to an opportunity to co-write a book series with one of the most genuine and kindest people she’s ever had the pleasure of knowing- Rheland Richmond.

Emerson is the co-author of The Package Deal Series, which includes The Quarterback Keeper, Pass Interference, Unnecessary Roughness, Two-Point Conversion, and three more upcoming books in the series. She will release her first solo novel in late spring 2023.

Besides being a retired teacher and author, Emerson lives in North Carolina and has been married to the same man for 32 years. She is the mother of three beautiful adults, one of whom is proudly part of the LGBTQ Community and completely responsible for her addiction to MM Romance. Even though the kids no longer live at home, they filled the empty nest with an Australian Shepherd, three cats, and a cute bunny rabbit.

Loved Ben and Alejandros' story. This was several books coming. Shoved their dynamics and how upbeat ben always acted. Even when Alejandro was pulling back. Such a fun and emotional love story. Great series

Three years in each others orbit was about all Ben could take. He made a move and although it was a bit rocky to begin with, they both overcame their fears, mostly Alejandro, and made it work. Enjoyed these two.

Alejandro and Ben were definitely a slow-moving machine, but so worth the ride. I loved how Ben put everything into his care of Alejandro, even to his detriment at times. He knew what he wanted and was willing to wait for it. Alejandro is a wonderful man, but he is determined to put everyone above him at all times. This can lead to unexpected hurt to the ones he loves. Thankfully, he has amazing people in his life who know when to push him. Preston is a great best friend. Always there when the wheels fall off. I loved this story so much!

Alejandro owns the bar, Benjamin and his best friend go there and met Alejandro, Benjamin falls in love and gets a job there. Over time the attraction between Benjamin and Alejandro gets stronger and they start a relationship and fall in love, it’s not all smooth sailing but they get there in the end.

“We Could Do This Tonight” by Emerson Beckett is book 2 in the “We Could Do This” duet. I was really looking forward to Ben and Alejandro’s story. Alejandro has been a fixture in the Package Deal universe as the owner/manager of “Alejandro’s Bar.”

These two have been circling around each other for three years and it was fascinating to see what’s been happening behind the scenes. I adored Ben and really felt how much he cared about Alejandro. Seeing his history and how he made the decision to move to Portland and work for Alejandro was really interesting. There was more to Ben than meets the eye.

I did become so frustrated by Alejandro’s treatment of Ben (hiding their relationship, never being seen in public, not inviting him to his house, etc) because it hurt Ben. Ben was so patient and Alejandro was being a little ridiculous. I was hoping Ben would finally let him go and Alejandro would step up to woo Ben. Don’t even get me started on Anna’s crush and Alejandro’s inability to break Abba’s heart. Was Ben supposed to date her just because Anna liked him? Did he get no choice? Anna was only 19 and would probably have crushes on many more people before all is said and done.

I still love this world and all the characters. The beginning was great, I just got frustrated by Alejandro.

WE COULD DO THIS TONIGHT is the second book in the duet We Could Do This. It shouldn't be read as a stand alone but if you do so you should still be able to read it without issue. BUT you shouldn't because you need Nick and Preston's story.

Ben wanted a change he was tired of the same things in California when he and his best friend make the trip to Seattle to see if this is where Ben wants to live he instantly knows he can't leave. Seeing the sexy owner of the bar he knows he is where is meant to be. But Ben never thought he'd have to work at the bar for three years before Alejandro finally lets his guard down enough to let Ben in.

Alejandro knew instantly he wanted the new guy that came into the bar. What he didn't expect was for him to be one of the new bartenders. He had strict rules about dating staff and intended on keeping those rules and for three years it worked until he just couldn't fight it any longer. Ben was everything he wanted but he wouldn't let himself have it. Somewhere along the way Alejandro's daughter develops a crush on Ben which puts him in an more awkward position. Does he crush his daughters heart or Ben's?

First I loved getting a little more of the Package Deal world. Finally getting Ben and Alejandro's story! The tension and chemistry for these two has been through many books. At times I so wanted to kick Alejandro in the butt for the things he was doing and/or not doing. Ben was giving so much of himself to Alejandro that most people that weren't getting a response or were being treated the way Ben was would have left. I'm so happy they finally got their much deserved HEA!

I was given a free copy of this book.

    Ben and Alejandro

I was excited to start reading this. Ben and Alejandro had me intrigued with their interactions in book one. After finishing their story, I would have never guessed what these two had been up to. Luckily, they both had wonderful friends and family to help them finally see what needed to be.

Ugh these two!! I wanted to smack Alejandro upside the head! And I was not alone in that feeling. I'm just thankful he had such amazing people in his life to make him see how wonderful his life could be if he just let himself give in. And Ben. Ben was a freaking SAINT. Not only that, but boy was a total freaking catch and could have had anyone he wanted in a flash. But he didn't want anyone else. He wanted Alejandro.

Ben went through a lot of hurt waiting for Alejandro to get his head out of his rear. It broke my heart because it was obvious how much they loved each other. Every single person in the bar knew. It was impossible to hide with how they looked at one another.

Alejandro's scenes with Preston were some of my favorites. Their friendship really is amazing. I'm still close with my best friend from college and 15 years later and 2 states away we still make sure to visit each other a few times a year. A good, honest friendship is one you never let go of and thank god because Preston definitely came in clutch a few times in this story. In fact, I'd say he was instrumental in helping the beautiful HEA between these two men happen.

We got a few cameos in this one, including a fun scene with Dreamboat. I'm looking forward to his book. And Prestons brother Greyson. I'm also super intrigued about Zane. I want to know more about him. Plus, the name Zane is hot. I wonder if he'll end up with one of the security team. Time will tell!
