- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2023I have not read fiction novels for many years, besides what my kids were reading. Recently, however, I came upon book 1 of the Cape Charade Series by Christina Dodd and couldn’t put it down. Book two continues the story and didn’t disappoint me. I wanted to know what happened next. A few scenes were predictable, but overall, was a great read. I enjoy Ms. Dodd’s writing and have bought several more of her books to read after this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2022I sometimes wonder what sets authors like Christina Dodd and Nora Roberts, apart from other authors who are just ok. I am not analytical enough to break it down, but this book has the same special something as other novels she has written. I love the characterization of Kellen and that she is strong, capable and definitely not a wimp. I love the special little girl that Rae is. Of course I also love the special bonding that tgeyvdevelop along the way while confronted with their dangerous adventure.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2019Kellen knows more about her lost year but through stories not memories. This includes not feeling an immediate bond with her daughter Rae. Rae is adorable and so spunky. Through this story she decides to bond with her mom and the action suspense is on! There is great imagery of the region, vivid emotions and moments and a good blend of sweet and action as there is gun fights and relationship developing. The wedding was complex and a great read. I enjoyed learning about Arthur and his crew. It was also great to see the military friends and family. The bullet is an interesting twist and led to a pretty fascinating cliff hanger.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2023This is a 3 book series and I am about a quarter of the way into the last book. Have really enjoyed the storyline in this series and it does not go on and on with over 20 books.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2019I absolutely didn't want to miss a single word of this book. Christina is creative because who else could write a story with so many unbelievable events and still make you crave what's coming up next. What Doesn't Kill Her is suspenseful, humorous, and filled with lovable characters. I sincerely recommend this book and can't wait until the next installment. I'm rooting for Kellen, Rae, and Max. I'm not sure which I enjoyed more: the storyline or how the characters reacted in it. Cute in places, sad in other places, and always enjoyable. Love this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2022This story picks up where Killen Finds out more about the year she was in a coma and had a daughter with Max. She needs to bond with Rae but does not know how. She takes a job from Niles and Rae stowed away in the van. Things get dicey on the mission but Kellen and Rae ended up bonding. Then at the wedding they find out who was trying to kill Kellen and stop him. I like that this series its more than just one book for these characters you get to grow with them.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2019The Cape Charade series was unknown to me when I spotted “What Doesn’t Kill Her” but I enjoy Christina Dodd’s storytelling skills, so I quickly snagged Book 2. However, not having read Book 1, I was a little lost in the beginning, especially with Kellan’s Rolodex-mental file format. Why was she estranged from her seven year old daughter and why would she want to hide from her? With no knowledge of the characters and their backgrounds, it took several chapters to get comfortable with the plot premise but once I did, the pieces began falling into place and I settled in for a suspense-filled yarn like Dodd does so well. The story is intense with some unexpected twists but the pacing fell off about midway through, picking back up as the action increased. The plot line seems original, the characters are well developed and the dialogue is clever. And seven year old Rae is a hoot! So close your eyes and a curl up with an entertaining read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2022Funny, fast paced hugely entertaining. Although I read the first book in the series, I didn’t remember it very well so this read as a stand alone and I loved it. A great kid, Rae, really steals the show so this is much more action adventure than romance which I liked

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly satisfying read
I liked the first book with Kellen, but I LOVED this second book in the series. Interesting, unique heroine, appealing supporting characters and a fast-paced plot. I would recommend reading Dead Girl Running first as it sets up a lot of the relationships.
